I think the CBS was a great deal all around. I am just curious as to how they are going to work out broadcasting contest-type shows.
They will now have the listenership to pull off bits like "The 55 gallon challenge." Will the contest have to end at 9:00 or do they have the greenlight to remain at Free FM's studio on special days. I also wonder if free FM will continue broadcasting past the 9 Oclock hour so more involved bits can be concluded for their audience, and would XM permit this?

I'm sure it will all work out, but there are a few logistical kinks to work out.

Good point, I hadn't really thought about that. But, maybe they could promo the contests on Free FM. Then actually pull it off in the XM studios. 3 hours with limited commercials should be plenty time to do a good contest bit.

It would also appease all the XM complainers who want "exclusive" content and the bits would probably fly better uncensored anyway.

Just an idea.

Heard your call today C&S, the Anthony and Jack Klugman reference was funny. You've just posed more questions that make me believe this can never work. In the end I see the XM listeners as being expendable. I'm just a gloomy gus.

If they did the actuall contest on XM they would then edit it and play it on FM the next day. They usually do those kind of things the day before a vacation anyway. So contest on thursday on XM, then replay edited bit during 6-9 friday with regular worst of 9-12. It'll be a great way to advertise to the FM listeners what ya can get if you buy Xm.

great point... i'm guessing this could become a great reason to ride it out until 12.... they rarely started contests at the very begining of the show so they could probably squeeze anything into 3 hours.....

Id guess that they start contests during the FM show, and it goes into the XM show shortly there after. theyd have to clean up the xm portion and play it on fm another day. thats a hell of a commercial for buying XM radio
