Goodfellas is a classic. When I bought my first DVD player six years ago, the first four movies I purchased were:

Scarface is good, but it's so dated. The cheesy music, horrible effects, "fancy" new technology, and bad acting by Pacino don't hold up like Goodfellas does. I wouldn't be upset if they remade Scarface with a real latino and showed more realistic violence.

Goodfellas is one of the best movies of the 90s and it's utterly despicable that Scorsese has never won an Oscar.

I love Goodfellas, though lately every time I watch it I have a hard time shutting the fuck up and not pointing out all of the people from the Sopranos who also got screen time in Goodfellas.

Meh. I always liked Casino better, but that's just me. I think probably because I worked in a theater when Casino came out, and I watched it whenever I wasn't busy.

That's not to say that Goodfellas isn't the better movie, I just prefer Casino,, and I think it's got a few better lines...plus, watching Joe Pesci go from fairly calm to pen-stabbing the shit out of a guy's neck is fucking hilarious.

As for Scarface.....come on now..that's a great movie.....so, it's dated, big deal...considering an exact date is given at the beginning of the movie, it's kinda hard NOT to be dated.

I agree. I dig Casino more too. I love Goodfellas, but I always feel like it drags a little bit once Henry gets out of jail and starts dealing with his Pittsburgh connection.

I was gonna say the same thing. It's supposed to be dated, that's part of the movie, the Birds and Psycho look cheesy nowdays too, but that doesnt mean they're not great films.

And yes Scarface is dated. I sure as shit hope P Diddy doesnt get the fuckin idea to remake it and ruin my memory.

Agreed...she drives me batshit too, but the scenes with her and Lester Diamond are usually pretty damned funny. James Woods and the kid.....hilarious.

Plus, everytime I watch now, I just keep telling myself that she gets her comeuppance in the end.
