Pick one - Which one do you like better?

I like the pace of FMJ better, but for a deeper darker tone,
Apocalypse Now.

My pick - Full Metal Jacket

Both have their good points and bad points. My personal favorite is FMJ thus my name. But I still love AN.

I liked Apocalypse Now, but it doesn't even compare to FMJ for me

FMJ especially the 1st 45 minutes or so untill Pyle eats it. I could watch that everyday.

I think it was becasue of all the jokes and clips I've heard on the show, but FMJ put me to sleep. I knew what was going to happen to Pyle and Matthe Modine doesn't strike me as a military guy.

Another Kubrick flop in my eyes.

that is a very hard one, AN for the drama and cinamatography and the story, the whole heart of darkness thing, fmj for the story and pace. realy its a tough call but i have to go with FMJ

And here's my favorite quote to go with it......

I like both but, FMJ gets the nod. Ya gotta admit, FMJ has more action and a faster pace. AN gets a bit cerebral at times.

I picked full metal jacket because I think its more enjoyable of a film... even though Apocalypse now is a better overall film, its not something I could watch as often as FMJ.

FMJ spawned both "Mail Call" and "L&O:CI". All we got from AN was the fucking "West Wing". Case closed.

It's sacrilegious to bring up those two fine movies but not Platoon, for me it goes, Apocolypse Now, then Platoon, and then FMJ.
FMJ has som great quotes, Hartman is hilarious, but the ending is horrible as is the second half.

"This is my rifle this is my gun, one is for fucking the others for fun"

FMJ all the way. If you really want to get the full Apoclypse Now effect read "Heart Of Daekness" by Joseph Conrad, book on which the movie is based.

Thinking about it, didn't a whole fuckload of Gook's die during the filming of Apocolypse now???? Maybe it is better than FMJ for that reason

I liked when Pyle was doing the obstacle course and Gunny Hartman called him a slimy walrus looking motherfucker.....the man is a genius...

i dont want to come across as a Kubrick snob but lets be honest kids it was Ermy who made Full Metal Jacket . and then you got Apocolypse Now which lets be honest Francis fucked that up by adding an hour to it but even with that extra hour shit its still the better movie

I try so hard to quote the shit he says in that movie but I always fuck it up, there are at least 40 lines in that movie that are perfect, and I only seem to be able to spit out 2 of them

Apocalypse Now. The extended version is even more-gooder.

FMJ had an hour or so of unparalleled goodness

AN had 3....or more w/the ext version

He wasn't going for comedy. He was pulling inspiration from the drill instructors that either trained him, or the ones that served alongside him when he was a DI in San Diego. Gunny Hartman was the end result. We're all just sick fucks that think that shit is hilarious.
