no problem there, wasn't gonna see it anyway. the only new films i'm dead-set on seeing are X3 and Superman Returns (and maaaaybe Clerks 2), everything else goes on the "If I have absolutely nothing else to do on a Saturday night," "Wait about a year and a half after it comes out on DVD" or "You couldn't pay me to watch this tripe" column.

I won't pay to watch another Tom Cruise movie. Usually I don't give a fuck about anything that stupid celebrities do but this tool is just too fucked up to ignore. Top Gun, Days of Thunder, MI, Last Samurai were decent movies, but nothing was exactly great and he's overrated. I hope his child is a mongrul only for the fact that it would shut all this Scientology bullshit up.

I might see it.

I liked the first two. Just cuz he's a fucking psycho doesn't change the fact that he's Jerry Mc-Fucking-Guire.

I think it was during the talk about Isaac Hayes leaving South Park, and them not rerunning the Scientology episode. Apparently Paramount (movie studio & same company as Comedy Central) got scared because Cruise said he wouldn't do press for M:I-3 if they reran that episode.

So the boys said no one should see his movie, and sorta kinda suggested maybe a free download or a bootleg if you really want to see it.

Dvd Johnie will have it on his table, by the tracks. At least the ghetto is good for something. I will check it out that way. I would rather give him $5 than $50 to a theather.

Yes, since someone paid for it already. Let the ticket collect the dust.

There's probably 3 movies i'm gonna see this summer.
DaVinci Code
Superman Returns
X-Men: Last Stand

There's probably more. I have to resist the urge to see MI3. Hoffman looks so evil.

No homo right? Jerry McGuire was a chick flick.

The only reason I'd see it is for Phillip Hoffman. IIRC Kevin Smith said something to the effect that he's the best villian since Hannibal.

Boycotts are passive protests and unless organized on a massive scale will have no effect on anything.

I for one plan to see the movie because I've heard good things about Hoffman's villian character. I don't care if he's a nancy-boy or if Cruise is a scientologist or a wife-beater, as long as the film in the theatre is worth watching.

Now, having said that, I will follow my usual custom of seeing it on a Tuesday afternoon to avoid the unrepentant savages that attend opening weekend screenings.

I wasn't going go see it anyway, even before the whole South Park thing happened. The Mission Impossible series, is just another example of Hollywood fucks up old TV shows when it turns them into movies. And I agree with what Ron Bennigton said about the series. It has nothing to do with the original TV show, its more like an American version of James Bond.

I saw it last night at a free screening. It was good... really good. Best of the three by far. JJ Abrams does a fantasitc job directing (the first 5 minutes is just.. WOW) and yes, Philip Seymore Hoffman is worth the price of admission. He is fatasticaly evil. The girl from Felicity is really good too. Hey, I think Tom Cruise is a cult following wacko, nut nonetheless, MI3 is a fun movie.

I'm an action flick junkie and this one looks pretty good.

I'm really torn on this one. The movie sounds like it's gonna kick ass and you know it's gonna be one of those you have to see in the theaters. On the other hand, Tom Cruise is an ass and I really don't want to put any money in his pockets.

This is the kind of movie you cant see on Bootleg if you wanna see it. Action movies in general suck when you have to watch them without the dolby and shit.
Whether you spend 10 bucks on it or not isnt going to change the fact that Crusie is a shitdick nor is it going to affect him in anway.

I just won't see it out of protest for the South Park thing. Got nothing really against the guy. I just think what he did was wrong and stupid.(I mean what's to keep Paramount fom showing the episode after they made their money right?)
It's funny, I actually got to meet the guy about a year ago. Really was, surprisingly, a nice guy. He signed autographs, shook hands, smiled, said "Hi" to people.(No jumping around like a madman!) And it wasn't for anything special, he just was going by. You think he would be a jerk but he was not at all.

PSH is awesome as a villian. He should do more of this. I enjoyed the movie throughout. I think the pace was good and the action was good. Uses the same formula as the first two though, might have been the same script with different scenery.

'M:I3' Fails to Meet Box Office Forecast

Fewer people chose to accept Tom Cruise's latest mission, a possible sign that the odd behavior of Hollywood's biggest star may have taken a toll on his box-office charm.

Paramount's "Mission: Impossible III" debuted with $48.025 million, a solid opening yet well below industry expectations and almost $10 million lower than the franchise's previous installment, according to studio estimates Sunday.

Industry analysts had expected the movie to open in the range of "Mission: Impossible II," which debuted with $57.8 million from Friday to Sunday over Memorial Day weekend in 2000, and Cruise's "War of the Worlds," which premiered with $64.9 million from Friday to Sunday over Fourth of July weekend last year.

Rob Moore, Paramount's head of worldwide marketing and distribution, said he did not believe Cruise's private life had any impact on "Mission: Impossible III," directed by "Lost" creator J.J. Abrams.

"I don't think so. There's no question it concerns us if the press is writing about things other than the movie," Moore said. "If people are writing about his personal life, then by definition, they're not writing about the movie."

Cruise's antics in the past year or so, publicity over his romance with Katie Holmes and the tabloid blitz regarding their daughter's birth in April may have left some movie-goers burned out or disenchanted with the actor.

Traditionally reserved about his private life, Cruise abruptly became an open book, jumping up and down on a couch while professing his love for Holmes in an interview with Oprah Winfrey and spouting his Scientology beliefs, including rants against psychiatry.

"Expectations were really high for this film. I think it's a good number, but people were obviously expecting better numbers," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of box-office tracker Exhibitor Relations. "There's a lot to be said for how a star's public persona can affect a movie's box office."

"Mission: Impossible III" earned generally favorable reviews, some critics calling it the best in the franchise and many offering high praise for Academy Award winner Philip Seymour Hoffman, who plays Cruise's nemesis.

Along with potential Cruise backlash, the long six-year interval since "Mission: Impossible II" may have dulled audience appetites.

Head-to-head comparisons are difficult, since the previous "Mission: Impossible" movies and "War of the Worlds" opened over long holiday weekends, when Sunday grosses typically are much stronger than during a regular weekend.

Debuting in about 55 other countries, "Mission: Impossible III" took in $70 million, for a worldwide total of $118 million. Paramount noted that the new movie beat the $115 million worldwide debut of "Mission: Impossible II" in those same countries.

Factoring in higher ticket prices, the debut for "Mission: Impossible III" looks worse. About 7.3 million people saw the new movie, compared with 10.7 million over the opening weekend for "Mission: Impossible II" and 10.3 million for "Mission: Impossible," which opened with $45.4 million over Memorial Day weekend in 1996.

The weekend's other wide releases had fair to poor openings. Freestyle Releasing's "An American Haunting," starring Sissy Spacek and Donald Sutherland in a 19th century supernatural tale, debuted at No. 3 with $6.4 million.

New Line's family film "Hoot," adapted from Carl Hiaasen's novel about teenagers trying to save endangered owls, flopped with $3.4 million, tied for No. 9.

"Mission: Impossible III' led Hollywood to its seventh-straight weekend of rising revenues. The top-12 movies took in $99.4 million, up 27 percent compared to the same weekend last year, when "Kingdom of Heaven" led the box office with an anemic $19.6 million.

I have to go against the grain on this one. It was a pretty good movie. It's been a long time since I watched teh first 2 but I thought this one was better then the first 2. Yeah Cruise is a douche but the movie was great. I'm a big JJ Abrahms fan and I thought he did a great job here.
