Cool...that will be worth a trip to the multiplex.

Actually...that'll be the 24 finale. Stupid planning by the Boondock Saints studio.

The director Troy Duffy is not a very well liked man in Hollywood from what I have heard, he is having trouble getting the film off the ground. Info used to be at www.theboondocksaints.com

I've heard of it, I've seen it in video stores and best buy, I've just never actually picked it up. So it's one I should just go and buy right? I mean, everyone here basically likes the same type of movies so I'm sure if it's a hit here, I'll love it.

It was cool and all, but what's the big draw? What sets it apart from other vengenance/vigalante stories?

AÉQUITAS... VERITAS...

And shepherds we shall be, for Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand... that our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth unto Thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, Et Filii, Et Spiritus Sancti.

I have no idea. After hearing all the hype about this movie, a friend and I rented it. We were laughing our asses off at how cheesy and bad this movie was. Willem Dafoe delivers the most laugh-out-loud horrendous performance as the queeny cop... To this day, everyone talks about how great this movie is, and I honestly don't get it. I'm starting to think it's just one big joke that I'm not in on.

It could be because you had such high expectations. When I watched it, I expected nothing, so when it turned out to be a good movie, I was really happy. I dont think it's GREAT, but it was a good flick, I've re-watched it a couple times. You're right about Dafoe though, his performance in that movie is really fucking bad. Although he's got a hysterical line when the dude is trying to cuddle with him and he goes, "you're such a fag."

This is an atrocious movie that takes a laughable plot and molds embarrassing acting, embarrassingly bad gun fights, and Willem Dafoe in his worst performance ever into one steaming lump of crap. THERE WAS A FIRE FIIIIIIGHT. Ughhhhhh. HE SHOOTS A CAT LOL. Great. Why does everyone think this movie is so great? What the fuck about this movie makes it so good? I just don't understand it. It HAS to be a joke that I'm not in on as well.

If this thread was about the re-release of Leon, then I'd be jizzing all over the place. As it stands, the only redeeming factor of the Boondock Saints is that it eventually ends.

and, thankfully, so will you.

If you don't get the movie, then don't post nonsensical observations about it. Willem Defoe's character was supposed to be that way. That was the point. Jesus, the movie wasn't a social commentary about defeating crime and bringing white collar criminals to justice. It was meant to be amusing and serious in the guise of Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. Its not supposed to be taken at face value, its a fuck'n vigilante movie . . . MOVIE.

For the love and Jesus and all his little wizards, take the movie for what it is, a comedy/gun fight.

//great troll btw.

What a great gun fight movie it was, like when El Duce and the 2 main characters stand 10 FEET AWAY FROM EACH OTHER and fire off a few clips, killing nobody. That coupled with really high-tech, fresh, and dramatic bullet-time :deadhorse make this a great gunfight movie. The only time I laughed was when I realized people thought they could get away with stealing from Leon, Guy Ritchie movies, and throwing together exagerrated acting to make a good movie.

It doesn't matter either ways, I'll still continue to believe this is a case of the Emperor's New Clothes. Thousands of people will still continue to love this movie and a few of us out there will continue to shake our heads in utter disbelief. I'll stop derailing this thread now because I don't want to make a flame war. I've seen how this movie has its feral defenders.

Tried watching it about 6 months ago. Never got past the 'drop-out-of-the-ceiling' bit. Corny. Slow. Bad acting. Uninteresting dialog. When I realized the only reason I wanted to keep watching was to see how un-PC DaFoe would get with his character, I ejected. A poor, retarded, hillbilly cousin to such noir tributes as Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill, and Way of the Gun.

Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill, and Way of the Gun.

Way of the Gun should NEVER be mentioned in the same category as those two movies. After the Sarah Silverman scene, that movie was awful. It was one of the only movies I ever walked out of.

That scene alone puts WOTG leagues ahead of Boondock Saints:

Bar Patron: Hey, hey. Yeah you, get up. What are you retarded? Get off the fucking car!
Raving Bitch: Hey dickless, get off the fucking car! Hey fucksuck, get your slippery fucking ass of the car! Listen to me, get off the fucking car with your fucking ass!
Parker: Shut that cunts mouth or I'll come over there and fuckstart her head!
Raving Bitch: You're gonna wish you never fucking got up this fucking morning asshole, because my boyfriend's gonna fuck you up! And then after that while he's fucking up your fucking gay uncle over there I'm gonna fucking cut off your cock and mail it to your mother, you fucking faggot bitch! You gaylord fucking bitch! How do you like that? You like that a lot you fucking faggot? You like to ass fuck? Fontanella fucking babyheads!
Bar Patron: Go ahead.
Raving Bitch: You like to fuck babyheads? You like to fuck boys? He's gonna fuck you in the ass, how do you like that? He's not even gay but he'll do it just to fuck...
Bar Patron: Honey honey. She's got a big mouth but she's not kidding. I'm gonna whip you silly and I'm gonna fuck you stupid. You wanna do the man dance? First dance is yours.

Yeah, that scene was great. But I hated the rest of the movie. I also never said Boondock Saints was a masterpiece. I thought it was pretty good and entertaining, but I definitly think people over-hype it.
