Churches nationwide are going to be using this "Blasphemous" movie to pad attendance and fill their coffers. Just disgusting.

It isn't "Blasphemy". It is just that certain parts of the movie could be interperted to be true when those facts or events are made up as plot devices to those that do not know what is the difference between fact and fiction.


Simply, you will not get a realistic picture of the church by watching this movie.

Yeah, but where in the movie/book marketing have they said this is true. It's a novel and a fiction movie. I don't see why the church is so pissed. It's not like they're calling it a documentary.

I think these churches make deals with either the movie or artists for a cut of the gate.

I think it was Marilyn Manson who said in an interview, "When people protest my shows, the only thing that is assured is it will be sold out." Or something to that nature.

"churches seeking to profit" is like "mankind seeking to stay alive by breathing". I'm not surprised about this, regardless if the DaVinci Code is fiction or not. It raises questions and the church is scared shitless about even curious dissention. Why not make a buck out of it while you're squashing it?

It is all about faith. I happen to believe in evolution and the big bang theory so I lean more toward believing the theme in Davinci Code over the Bible. There is no difference between saying that a man walked on water in the Bible vs. a boy flying on a broom in Harry Potter except time. In time, who knows, Harry Potter may be a religion.

Haven't read the book, and the movie doesn't really look all that great, either.

Having said that, though...the church across the street from where I'm sitting right now has "Davinci Code: The true story, Sunday Morning 8am" on it's roadside sign. It's been like that for a couple weeks now.

i was watching the news, and there were interviewing a priest and he said 'we want to establish fact from false claims'

i guess that would explain why the book is sold in the FICTION section of the bookstore

I wish this book was completely true. I would find it great for a writer in the year 2000 (or whenever the book was written) to totally change history. Imagine the crusades, vatican, reasons for countries to be founded... all to be useless.

There is only one thing i agree with dan brown and others about. The old and new books were written by man. They weren't sent down from where ever and just followed. So man could have made stuff up. Personally I believe most of the stories in the old are parables used to illustrate how people should act, not actually fact. And i have no clue about the new books because i'm jewish.

In conclusion, at this point of my life I don't find religion to be a factor on how I act and I think it would be hilarious if dan brown got it all right.
