Hello Everyone,

I will be performing at the Irvine Improv this weekend, May 12th and 13th, for four shows only. Here is the info: Irvine Improv, 71 Fortune Drive, Suite 841, Irvine, California (949) 854-5459. Show Times: Friday, May 12th at 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., and Saturday, May 13th at 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

I strongly recommend making reservations! Don't be left out!

I understand where you're coming from, its just hard for me to drive 50 miles down to a club, get drunk, or even not get drunk, and then drive another 50 miles back home. That is a long haul.

And Irvine, is practically San Diego.

Anyways, I get where you are coming from, and hope you have some great gigs, I wish you would show some sypathy for us in LA, and maybe play a few local shows, maybe if you have a free weekend?

It is posts from like the ones above that make me wish I was in fucking Jersey again. People this is Jay Mohr. He has to be the top 3 funniest comics who not only come on the O&A show but supported them when people like Dice and Lewis Black turned thier back on them. I drove from San Bernardino to Irvine and once again scene a great show. Jay Mohr puts on a great show and throws 3 other comics at you. Michael Loftus nearly brought down the house. By the way Irvine is nowhere near San Diego it is at the top of Orange County almost LA county. Ontario is about 45 minutes from Hollywood. I don't really see a problem with that distance to see a great act. I guess when Bill Burr/Sticker stop in Ontario on May 26th 8:30 is out of the question for you. Me and Gabriel paul will be handing out wow stickers in support for one of the boys.

I don't want disillusion you, but actually I do know who Mike Epps is (I mean, not personally, or anything, and I wasn't trying to make Jay feel good or anything), but unless he calls my favorite show from time to time and makes me giggle like Jay does, who is he really? I mean, in the context of my little O&A world, who is Mike Epps, hmm?

Know lots about Jay, too, or at least what he put in his book. I read it when it came out, and even paid the hard-cover price for it, so I know plenty, buster..... Alright, I know a little. I don't remember all that much. There was something about stolen jokes in it. I know Chris Kataan sounded like a real asshole, I remember that.

I'd go see Jay Mohr in a heartbeat if he was playing around here, though - he makes me laugh. I love that he reads the board, and posts every now and then.

If I remember the book correctly, I think Jay did have a bad time, a long, long time ago, but he owned up and paid for his mistake, and we should probably just leave it at that. So maybe your joke didn't fail at all, it just wasn't as silly as you might have thought it was....

I'm not really that familiar with Mike Epps (but I really do know who he is). I'm not so sure it's so much that he doesn't translate to the O&A audience, as much as the opportunity hasn't presented itself. I've heard he's funny, though - and they love funny. I don't see why he wouldn't translate, they just haven't talked to him....yet. You never know.

Although, they were awfully hard on that "Honeymooner's" remake he was in...just on principle....no need to remake it, and all that.

If you think about it, Patrice would never translate - in theory, but he's fantastic when he's there! Sometimes people can surprise you. :rolleyes:

But then, I think it's a travesty to ever try to remake any movie or show that made another actor's career. i.e. - The Dukes of Hazard, Starsky and Hutch, need I go on?

Movies with relatively anonymous characters (at least to the current generation) are easier to pull off as remakes. i.e. - Poseiden will probably be good.

Mike Epps is not the funniest guy in the world, but IMO he doesn't deserve the lambasting he received here about his recent HBO special. That said, I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Well, Patrice does bring up race a lot. Good or bad, he does do it. He also brings up gender differences a lot, that's just his way - but he's pretty fucking funny doing it. I think he plays the gender card more than the race card, or at least as much - as if women were another species to be trained, rewarded, and chastised to get results from - like a dog. If he weren't so funny, it would be really offensive, but he is, so it's not.

I think most people around here love Patrice, I know I do. I think maybe it's the screaming thing they don't like so much - it's a little loud sometimes. I read a lot of comments about that (and yes, i do read the board, thank you :icon_wink).

I know when Patrice is there, it's going to be a funny show (no offense to Jimmy, who I also love) but Patrice always makes me laugh.

I think he must have some very good feedback, or they wouldn't let him do his Saturday night shows, and Elo definitely wouldn't consider giving him a regular show, he sure wouldn't talk about it on the air.

I'm with you about the remakes. No reason for any of them, you're right. I can't think of a good one (did you see "Bewitched"? Horrible, horrible movie!)

Although, I'll probably go see Poseidon too, at the Imax, because it sounds like it will be good that way. That actually sounds like a good reason to remake a movie.
