I had no idea this even existed. I think this is pretty important to save and preserve. Got goosebumps looking @ the picture.

It would be saved and preserved if the asshole politicians and 9/11 families would STFU and let the place be REBUILT.

I know its different, but the Smithsonian (can't remember which one) had pieces of the towers on display and that was creepy to look at.

I disagree that the staircase is important to preserve and protect. It's mildly interesting that it survived the collapse, but it shouldn't be allowed to hold up construction.
Not that what's being constructed is much better than a weakened staircase.

I'm torn as to how the WTC area should be rebuilt or built on.. We shouldn't let what happened make us afraid to move on BUT I kinda agree with the families that want some kinda memorial park there for their family members that perished that day... I hope that there'll be some kinda happy medium for both sides...

I have pieces of it in my garage and make it a point not to look at them

being that personal attacks are not allowed on this board i wont attack..
that staircase is now a historical landmark, it is truly the last peice of the WTC standing and should be preserved. it should be in someway used in the memorial. as for your other comment about "what is being constructed is not much better than a weekened staircase" i take alot of offence to that remark.
take a look at WTC 7 i worked on that building and now it will stand on the underground and foundation work that i helped do.

Why should the last piece of the WTC standing be preserved? Just because it is the last piece standing? I don't see that as having any special signifigance worth holding up real estate worth potentially billions of dollars.
Put in a memorial to appease the families, fine, but enough with the bullshit sentimentality about every friggin' piece of dust and rubble that remains. Treat people with respect and courtesy, but recognize that the staircase is just cement and metal and not a sign from the almighty.

Fair enough, I wasn't specifically referring to WTC 7, but rather to the complete embarrasment that is the freedom tower.
