I cant wait, this is by far the best show on television
Season three of Rescue Me begins May 30th, and to promote it, F/X and Sony are launching a 15-minute digital short that will be available online, on demand, and on cell phones. The stand-alone short, called Rescue Me 2.5, was written by Denis Leary and Peter Tolan. It stars the entire regular cast. No details are available on what the short is about.
From May 8-29, AOL will be the exclusive broadband provider of the video. It will also be available as video-on-demand for free to customers of Adelphia, Cablevision, Comcast, Cox, and DirecTV. A wireless deal is still in the works. On May 30, the short will be streaming on TVGuide.com, IMDB.com, and Heavy.com

For those of you with Direct TV, they are running a 15 minute short story on channel 115. Think of it as a Rescue Me short film. Very funny, had me belly laughing! Reminded me of the “horror stories” we would tell as little kids. Enjoy !

Season 3 Starts This Tuesday at 10 PM
As the third season opens, Johnny mediates a divorce agreement between Janet and Tommy, while Sheila asks Tommy to have a talk with Damian (Michael Zegen) about sex after she finds condoms in his room. In return, she'll help out with John Sr. (Charles Durning). Meanwhile, Sean is seeing someone new; Jerry's hit with a rate hike for his wife's nursing home; and Uncle Teddy's “at peace” in jail after shooting Connor's killer. “I did the right thing,” he says. Maggie: Tatum O'Neal.
Can we sticky this? Leary is a good friend of the show and we should show him support

Excellent start to the new season. Looks like Kenny morphs into Lady Di(e), train tracks and all.
Shelia is much hotter than Janet. Tommy's going to hit that again for old times sake. The Garrity and Tommy's sister angle and the Janet and Johnny angles ought to play out nicely. I'm not sure I like Tommy's new powers of bringing back the dead.

Prof Ant, I think Season 2 should be enough to catch you up. If you can get your hands on Season 1, you won't be disappointed.
I LOVE this show, and have been hooked since the very first episode. I do think the earlier shows had more funny (season 2, ep 1 had me in stitches and tears) but I'm still hooked. I had ADD during the 10pm show, settled down for 11pm, and if there's nothing else on, I'll probably catch it again on Sunday. Anyone know if they'll be replaying this past week's episode on Tuesday at 9pm? I think they did that during Season 1, not sure about Season 2.
JfB...I thought it was blood at first, but I think it was soot filled spittle/mucous (sp?) and he actually did save her.

Tommy saved that girl. This show doesn't play 'Dallas'-style games with his hallucinations; if he'd been imagining it, it would have been pointed out to us within 30 seconds or so.
I think it's just part of Tommy's continual-but-never-quite-finished nervous breakdown; he didn't save his kid because he "didn't try hard enough" (at least according to his cunt hole of a wife), so now he's going out of his way to save kids long after everyone else has given up on them.

I will say that this episode had some of the best writing i have seen ever in a tv show, I am not kidding. The comedy was top notch, but also the foreshadowing with the snakes in the fire at the beginning. so was that girl alive at the end?
I was wondering the same thing. In a previous season (1 I think) there was a girl that Tommy was talking to...only to find out she had a broken neck and had been dead the whole time. So when the girl she suddenly started breathing again, how can you tell if it's in Tommy's mind or really happened? Wouldn't the medics have kept working on her if they thought she had any chance at all?
In earlier episodes they also discussed dating a guy's ex, or his sister, etc. Johnny Gavin should know better, how could he do that to his own brother? Garrity should know better too, but since he is so very dumb, I think Tommy could forgive him.
I get the feeling Lou might blow his head off or something. That whore really messed him up, and tv shows always kill off my favorite characters first.

As someone else said in last seasons thread.
This show just gets better with every episode. It's amazing. I use to like Tommy's brother what a backstabing assfuck. Should get interesting this season.
I'm pretty sure that girl was alive at the end. Because her mother came racing to her side when she saw her open up her eyes. Plus the look that Franco gives Lou I believe is like "how the fuck did he do that"

Episode: Discovery
At a singles bar, Franco meets an older woman (Susan Sarandon) while Tommy picks up a woman (Alexa Havins) who won't shut up. And Tommy's daughter Colleen will certainly blab to Janet about her dad's indulgent treatment of sister Katy unless he bribes her. Meanwhile, Jerry visits Jeannie (Peggy Scott) at her way-too-expensive nursing home, and John Sr. (Charles Durning) insists on having his 83rd-birthday party at his favorite Chinese restaurant---the one no one else likes.
And since it wasnt posted here, here's the article from the Post, with their 4/4 star review:
http://www.nypost.com/tv/64607.htm
HOW is it possible that a bunch of FDNY firemen are that good-looking, have such gorgeous ex-wives, are funny and brave, yet still have more angst than a bunch of "Desperate Housewives"?
If those are the kinds of questions you ask yourself whenever you watch the incredibly good "Rescue Me" - which returned with a bang (or several actually) this week - then you've never met the real NYC firefighter, Terry Quinn, who is Denis Leary's long-time friend and a consultant on the show.
Quinn's life is scarily close to that of Leary's character, Tommy Gavin. For one thing, Quinn was married to and shares a bunch of children with my pal, the gorgeous actress Patti D'Arbanville.
And, like Tommy and his ex, the gorgeous Janet (Andrea Roth), they've had more splits than the San Andreas Fault. It's part of what makes "Rescue Me" great - it's a soap with fire, not just suds.
If you saw the opening episode this past Tuesday, you know that Janet, who cut Tommy out of her life when their son, Connor, was killed by a drunk driver, has a new mystery man in her life. But really, who could have guessed that it would be that guy?
Oh right, Tommy could guess it, and does, at his father's (Charles Durning) drunken 83rd birthday party. Fighting fires is light stuff compared to the fireworks that erupt, leaving someone very badly battered in the ensuing restaurant-into-the-street brawl.
As if things weren't hot enough, here comes Alicia (Susan Sarandon), as a rich woman who picks up Franco (Daniel Sunjata) in a bar. That's right, he's what, 30? - and she's going on 60 this year. Not exactly your mother's 60 by the way - although the jokes about her age never end.
Like? Like this: Probie Silletti, (Michael Lombardi): "She looks like my mom!"
Tommy: "Your mom has a rack like that?"
Alicia is built like well, like a brick firehouse, and isn't afraid to show it, or anything else either. In fact, almost her first words to Franco are: "You're intimidated, huh? The thought of an older woman who knows exactly what she wants, and when she gets it, knows how to keep it happy." And who doesn't want to be happy?
But it's not just about their big age difference alone.
In fact, while Franco is getting picked up by a woman twice his age, Tommy is picking up a girl half his age, and Tommy's nephew, Damian, (Michael Zegen), is sleeping with his knock-out biology teacher.
But it's not all sex all the time. In fact, the scenes between the scenes between the sheets deal with the part of life that goes on when you aren't having sex - parents getting older, loss, anger, fear, and fire - always the fire.
Great TV.

I'm a huge fan of this show. I own both seasons on DVD and thought the first two episodes this season were excellent.
This episode was ehhh. It was a bridge episode to get to better things...I hope.
I understand Probie is a dumb ass. The story lines of him fucking the mother and daughter.. nailing, getting dumped by, and stalking the chubby girl,...even turning into a pillow biter..are somewhat believable. But I shouldn't be expected to believe this guy is so stupid that he doesn't know how old he is. That was a reach and is the only complaint I have had in 2 fantastic seasons.

Is this another one of those "your name here" things?
If not, thanks...even though I was going to change it today. Working on a graphic of a baby in a paint mixer/shaker thingy.
Getting back on topic, I thought last night was a great show...they brought the funny back.
And yes, they need to stop reffering to Susan Sarandon as "hot" unless the bitch is on fire.

No it was not one of those insert your name in this thing, I love Action and paid for a bootleg dvd set of the whole series awhile back. I just saw that Jay Mohr is in the beginning of Canteen Boy, one of the most hilarious bits of SNL.

Watching it when Leary looked under the table and saw the hand holding, and waiting while he took a bite of cake, not knowing if he was going to flip out or remain calm, was brilliant TV.
Agreed. It was great, I remember thinking he's gonna kill him. His brother is a douche bag. He didn't even fight back and knew he was fucked up. Cant wait til this Tuesdays episode. I'm really starting to think the probie is a fag especially with how the show ended.

Tommy seeks out Johnny's ex-wife, Angie (Marisa Tomei), after Sheila runs into her; Sean breaks up with Maggie (Tatum O'Neal); Jerry and Rose spend a romantic evening together; Mrs. Turbody (Paige Turco) is jailed for statutory ...., a development that gives Tommy some relief but also a new worry; and Franco can't find his daughter, Keela. Alicia: Susan Sarandon.
Really? I thought the phone call was Tommy making sure his brother wasn't within quick driving distance of the house.
That's exactly what it was. Tommy had an "appointment" with his ex-wife under the condition that his brother wouldn't be there. He didn't trust his brother, so they arranged that Johnny would be at a given location and that the bartender would take his gun.
That's what the phone call was all about. However, Tommy knew that he couldn't trust Johnny or the bartender, so he knew approximately how much time he had at Janet's house before Johnny could make it home to continue the fight from two episodes ago.

If so I've got to give Al some credit for acknowledging his own past bullshit and stepping up to take a ribbing like a man, from mantown!

SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 4
Adam Buckman over at the NY Post asks if Rescue Me is anti-female.
http://www.nypost.com/entertainment/...._that_started_a_bonfire_entertainment_adam_buc kman.htm
IS "Rescue Me" anti-female?
Could be. But if that's the case, then it's probably anti-male, too.
The debate has raged since last Tuesday night, when Episode 4 of the current season of FX's firefighter drama concluded with Tommy Gavin (Denis Leary) forcing himself on his estranged wife (Andrea Roth) and then exiting her home with a self-satisfied smirk on his face.
Was it a ....? She certainly didn't give her consent, and she even fought him for a bit. So, in that sense, the answer is yes.
However, her reaction when it was over (and even during) was somewhat ambiguous. What really bothered some viewers and critics, as much as the actual ...., was Gavin's expression of triumph.
I can't even imagine any other show doing this. Big ups to Denis and the rest of the cast and crew for doing something different.
EDIT -
HAHAHA! I can't link to the article because .... is censored. So just replace the .... in the link with .... and you can get right to it.

It was pretty messy inside and him and Franco kept getting knocked down by debris
Lou told Franco to come into the room and then the debris blocked their way out
Meanwhile Tommy was searching for victims, Jimmy came out and told him to check the kid, which turned out to be a mannequin, Lou then called Tommy and Tommy made them turn on their cricket alarms and he broke through the wall and pulled them out of the room

Great episode, eating the dip off Garrity's face had me loffing and loffing. This show and Nip/Tuck are my fave FX shows. I never did watch Arrested Development till FX had a marathon showing, why didnt they just leave FOX and head hear as a FX fixture, it was a very good comedy show with no laugh tracks that had me rolling. FOX is more for the dumb and simple-minded I think, FX has the more edgy and "smart" content, gonna miss AD!

I guess the baby will have to be Tommy's now
Cant wait to see how they will explain that one
I wonder if the Viagra will come back to haunt Tommy
So many questions, so few episodes left

I dont think it was mentioned here but Season 4 was picked up, so I'm sure there will some cliffhangers (especially baby wise) with the last episode:
LOS ANGELES -- The boys of 62 Truck will be working another shift for FX.
The cable network has picked up a fourth season of "Rescue Me," which has enjoyed improved ratings -- along with a healthy dose of controversy -- during its run this summer. The show will likely return in the spring of 2007.
"'Rescue Me' is a key part of one of FX's stated goals, which is to foster some of the best episodic series on television," FX President John Landgraf says. "[The cast and crew] have done an incredible job on season three and the audience and critics responded with continued loyalty and passion. We are enormously proud of this series and of Denis [Leary's] Emmy nomination for best actor."
Through its first six airings this season, "Rescue Me" is drawing about 2.9 million viewers a week, a 10-percent improvement over its season two performance. Ratings among FX's target audience of adults 18-49 are up by 8 percent.
Leary and Peter Tolan, who co-created the series about New York firefighters, and Jim Serpico will remain as executive producers. The entire cast is set to return as well.
The show has courted some controversy lately with a scene in a June episode in which Leary's character, Tommy Gavin, assaulted his estranged wife, Janet (Andrea Roth). A number of critics and fans have called it ****, although Leary and Tolan have both said the scene is more complicated than that. Landgraf says Tommy will get his comeuppance as the season wears on.

Wow. This season has been incredible and tonight didn't disappoint. They only show Timmy in the morgue and one body being shown so one might survive. I Think Tommy will be offered the position of new Chief and he will stay since he keeps asking Franko about why he is taking the test. it might come out that he took it a few years back and never got a shot or chose not to take it is why he bugs Frank about it.

Well Tommy cant be offered the position as new chief, he's still just a FF. I would guess that Chief lives but may need to retire. I really think that Johnny is dead, just my guess though. God damn best show on TV.
By the way, one of the best lines of the season may have gone unnoticed. When they were helping the fat knitter on the fence, she fainted, and Tommy goes "It's like Iwo Jima all over again". God damn I laughed out loud and woke my wife up with that one.

here is what i think happens. johnny dies and tommy has to take care of the baby. this means he can't leave with shiela who just bought the house and this will make a lot of drama.
chief will live and get even with the black bitch that left him to die. he gets her deported but before she leaves she tells his wife that he cheated on her and ruins that relationship.

Until an hour later w the old bitch forges who she is and who he is. I don't see the Alzheimers being a big plot line at this point. I do think Tommy could face some shit when people start asking where Chief got VIagra,

Thats what I thought. Especially when there was about 2 minutes left in the show and they are showing someone who has never been on the show before. And when he got out of the car I knew it was over Johnny. Cant wait for next week.

Yea, you would too if you only had about $2.75 in your pocket
You better be bullshitting
I aint bullshitting pal
Eli, Tom...Call the cops
C'mon get off me, I'm FDNY, FDNY
Bullshit...Prove it
See that? Like that huh? I got that ahh 12 stories up, raging inferno up in Harlem in an apartment looking around I lost my halogen, couldnt find it...But I found somebody's Grandmother and I had to hand her out in a bucket to save her, punched my way through the window...She died about an hour later at the hospital...Look at that one huh? See, see that one? That was some drunken asshole in the Bronx, he fell asleep while smoking in bed...He started the fire...Woke up trying to crawl out, I got him, bringing him down, trading my mask off with him coming down the stairs, the stairs give way, we go right through half a story onto these metal spikes...He lived, 4 kids and their mom died...Yea...I knew 60 guys who died on 9/11 and you know the funny part is, I bet ya all people in this bar, you can name 5 finalists from American Idol, before they can name one, ONE name of the 343 men who gave their lives from the FDNY on 9/11...Anybody got a name? One name? Huh? Anybody got a name of a dead fireman huh?...No, nobody...Didnt think so...I dont have any money because my wallet and badge were in my new truck which got stolen this morning, my wife's pregnant, shes going to have a baby but we dont know whose it is because shes having sex with me and my brother, my uncle's in the joint because last year he shot my uh, this drunk driver who killed my only son and I just saw my son on a crosstown bus out in front of this place about 3 minutes ago...
Sweetheart believe me, this is way, way more bad boy then you're ever going to be able to handle, so do yourself a favor and go blow a drummer

Yeah the tribute fucked me up a bit and the shot of ground zero put me over the edge. Took me back 5 yrs to a bad place. I havnt seen that memorial yet, but I have to check into it. The only fire house down at ground zero was the 10/10 house, which was literally 100 feet away from the south tower. The shot they used of the pit was actually looking south, so they used a bit of cgi for that scene. I dont know if the house has a memorial. I do believe there is a memorial at the south cove which is toward the water down there. I'll find out on the 11th. I always make a trip down there at midnight on the 10th, and have my own time there. Still freaks me out though.

I have watched the other seasons of Rescue Me, and they kind of dragged for me. This season was a complete turnaround. I hate fucking CSI, and that other crap like it. One liners delivered while standing over a dead body is crap TV. Rescue Me season 3 was some of the best TV I have ever seen. Leary needs a punch in the mouth for that finale, now I have to fucking wait all this time for an answer? He was on O&A talking about how taxing it is, and he wants to hang it up....so there's alway that "what if..." factor. Maybe he's dead, and is a ghost type figure now, and only shows up in a few episodes, and season 4 kind of fades into the next faze of fire fighters at the house. Mother fucker that was good TV.
Oh, and I loved all the constant banging. I was filling up every episode for a while there. Those women on that show have great bodies.

But, I'm glad there will be a season next year and Leary will have survived the fire. As for the psycho girlfriend.......dead

This show is starting to get too Melrose Place for me. I love the show for teh banter with the guys in the firehouse, the 9/11 theme and a lot of the dialogue. But some of the stories are so over the friggin top, it kinda loses me. All the shit that happens to Tommy Gavin and everyone else int he house, it should be retitled "The Trials of Jobe".
