Great, now I'm a tree hugger.

Thursday night a one of the limbs of a huge ash tree in my yard fell onto my house and onto our cars. It smashed my satellite dish to pieces, put a huge dent in my wifes hood, tore up some gutters, and may have fucked up the roof and chiminey. I had a tree service come out yesterday and they informed me that the tree has to come down. Where the limb fell off, there is a split. It would only be a matter of time before one of the remaining two limbs fell and either hit my neighbors house or fell into the street, hitting my neighbors cars.

As I'm writing this, the tree service is taking this tree down. Its sad. That tree has been there over 80 years and had a lot of green in it. It was huge and provided alot of shade during the summer. We would put lawn chairs under it when we cooked out. Now its being chopped up in a wood chipper. I didn't think that this would bother me so much, but it is. Now I have this huge hole in my yard that looks really empty. This sucks.

I live in a building with a courtyard we had 4 evergreens just about as old, we had a hurricane and one of them fell down, a few days later the management decided to cut the other 3 trees down, I have no idea why (symmetry maybe??) now during the winter the yard looks like bea arthur's snatch, all dried up and barren, trees are nice

When I was 12 we went away to Cape Cod for two weeks. About a week into our vacation, The huge Hickory tree that grew at the base of our driveway decided to give up the ghost in a thunderstorm. It came crashing down through what was my room at the time, and fucked up my childhood house to the point that it took over 10 years to correct. So count yourself lucky.
