Once again, that's a super cell thunder storm over the Mid-west. That is NOT what a hurricane looks like. Are you going to believe crap posting on the internet that people claim is something, or are you going to believe the Meteorologist that knows what he is talking about.

I hate to have to admit that Papagolash knows anything, but he's right on this one. Katrina was hundreds of miles wide. A storm like that wouldn't fit neatly in frame like that. Also, That's Prairie land. Not a river delta or the gulf Coast.

So, are you a Meteorologist or a weatherman? You can see some stuff like this in the midwest and in the outer cells of hurricanes.
ahh who cares.. they're still some great pics.

I'd like to see someone go on Snopes, find a really good, possily convincing Fake story, then bring it here and post it as truth to see how many people buy it.

These pics were posted on wb before Katrina. The person just said they were
really cool storm pics. I agree, they're really cool. It's so obviously the mid-west though. There's fuckin corn growing.

Hehe... I was wondering how long it'd be.
The sky became bleak slowly and rain came in bursts. The wind picked up gradually till even trees couldn't stand up. There wasn't a wall coming in. Just a slow series of rain and wind. Till eventually there was nothing but rain and wind. I watched as trees got knocked down outside. Parts of peoples barns and houses went flying by. For 8 hours we stayed in a shelter hoping that it held. Anyway it wiped out the cty of New Orleans and I'll never stay for one again.

Nice supercell/wall cloud/tornado pics.
But that's NOT Katrina.
Actually, Papagolash is correct. These are pics of supercells and its associated formations. A hurricane has cloud cover that can extend for hundreds of miles and which usually hides the connected structures. Furthermore, if I am not mistaken, Katrina made landfall in the early morning hours. These pics appear to be late afternoon when solar heating is most effective and leads to increased convective efficiency (hot air rising which fuels super cell activity).
By the way, I was a meteorologist and I have run forecast operations dealing with typhoon predictions in the south Pacific and ship routing around them.
