Hey Wackbaggers -
Im looking to sell my motorcycle and have no idea how to go about it. The internet has come around quite a bit since Ive had to sell an automobile or a cycle and don't know which would be better?
I live in Orlando, so I could put an add in the classifieds of the local paper. But Ive also heard about the classifieds on cycletrader.com?
I'm willing to spend about $200 on ads, so I might be able to swing both but wanted to ask your guys advice first. Anyone have good luck with one or the other recently?
And just in case anyone is interested here:
1997 Honda VFR, 15,898 miles. Excellent condition, garaged full-time. Have the rear seat cowl and handle-bars, manual and service kit and the title.
$4200 obo
(I have more pics if anyone is interested)

Try craigslist and even Ebay. If you don't sell it on Ebay, you will at least get people to see it and ask about it which could generate a sale. FYI Ebay motors on chargers a max of $40.00 final auction fee.

local paper is good, also park it at a busy intersection next weekend.

Yeah, but make sure it's insured.

Ebay will get you the most for it, seeing as how you're not dependant on your local economy
but be warned that shipping a bike can be a pain in the ass.... if you go that route, make sure to state that buyer assumes all responsibility for shipping arrangment, unless you're not against crating and delivering to a Forward Air terminal
other than that, I've had alot of luch with selling kars and bikes through Cycle Trader, but pricing it just right is paramount, so you need to do alot of research on market values
good luck

Thanks for all the input. I put it on ebay today and will see how that goes. Of course buyer is responsible for shipping!
We'll see. Started the auction at 3900 and did a buy it now at 4200. I'll be happy with anything inbetween!

if you wanna cover all bases, before you get into the auction too far, list it on Cycle Trader for shits and grins, for your Buy It Now price
just be sure to revise your auction stating that it's also for sale locally, so if someone nearby bites, you don't get a bad rep. Then, just end your auction, choose "mistake in discription" as your reason, and you won't get stiffed for the full ebay charge
or don't:)

Well I put it on Ebay last night and a guy already did the BUY IT NOW for me. :) Now all that needs to happen is the transaction.
And Im going to keep the plate even though he is going to ride it home. Seems safer for me, since it will still be registered to me right?

Just make sure he's insured and he signs a bill of sale taking possession of the bike.
