It's definitely part of the reason Earl's so vocally against it. If something goes wrong, he's doing everything to protect his ass, and to curb the "you're the producer, this is your fault" backlash he'd inevitably get.

And XM's probably not going to do anything to the hosts since it's not really a scandalous kind of thing that could involve legal action (like O&A and the show that shall not be mentioned).

Therefore Dave's the fall guy if something goes wrong.

Sorry, I couldnt resist, I dont like that show. I've been watching it and while each individual episode is entertaining enough, the whole is really disappointing. Maybt it has to do with the fact that like 80% of the first 2/3 of the final season has to do with Vito's homosexuality. I have nothing against it but I mean, there are other, more interesting, characters going on here but all of them just seem to have minor, minor subplots. Pauly and his mother and his prostate cancer combined has barely any screentime compared to Vito. Tony got shot and since then he's pretty much just been lying around. Really disappointing overall.

Are those the seasons with Sargeant Spearchucker???? He was in the movie as a ringer for the football game and in the first couple of EPISODES but canned him when they learned there were no black doctors in Korea. But yes, the first parts of S1 had him. S3 ended with the death of Henry Blake. Then S4 gave us Col. Potter and Honeycutt, whiney little pissants who took all the fun and amorality that Blake and Trapper John brought to the show.

It just seems like there's not the same effort there as in previous season and that they are buying time with some of these episodes before they kick into gear the inevitable shake-up (or fall, or whatever will happen) of the Soprano family (which probably won't even be put into motion until the final eight eps in December).

These episodes just seem to have no direction to them.

I don't think it's the worst season. I remember the season after the season Livia died was the worst or the one where Tony/Carmela broke up every episode. This season at least has entertaining episodes. I find the Johny Cakes stuff really funny but, as I said, it's the biggest plot this season when the biggest plot should involve Tony, Silvio, Pauly or even Phil Leotardo those people just seem to be wandering around without direction. As you said, it's the lack of direction that bothers me.
