First off I DONT CARE if he was a past friend of the show or told funny stories years ago, THIS IS 2006!
This one trick pony was on Hoo-hoo today (go figure) and did... guess what? A Pesci impression. Then Howard approached him about doing a movie where Breuer would do Pesci as a mobster, how "revolutionary" of our favorite Jew.
Hey talentless fuck, Goatboy called, he wants his last resort SNL member back.
Can't wait to hear his Heavy Metal Kareoke on Sirius!

Jim on SNL was a one trick pony. But come on the bits he did on O+A where great. I hate that he would go on Stern but the guy has to promote himself and since he's with the little doggy he can't go on O+A.

I use to love him on O&A back on WNEW some classic bits, but...
He use to do Pesci back when he was on SNL...1995-1998
Howard, Breuer, and Pesci are all irrelevant and are stuck in the past.

breuer can be really funny live. don't knock a comic for not being at his best on howard's show. we all know how little he lets anyone else shine on his show.

I hate to say it but Breuer Unleashed is actually a pretty funny show sometimes. It's no O&A, and not enough to make me buy sirius... But it has its moments.
Breuer himself is just a funny guy. But, he's not "ok now be funny" kinda funny. That's what made him great on O&A and keeps him pretty good on his own show.
Of course, we all would've preferred for Breuer to end up the same place as O&A, but he didn't.
Now he's on the competitions platform and obviously can't be on O&A. That doesn't mean he shouldn't go on Howard and promote his own show.
I, for one, forgive Jim for taking a job doing something he loves for what must be decent money. I'm sure if the opportunity arose to jump platforms that Breuer would consider. But until then, I'm not gonna shit on the guy for trying to make a living.

You shouldnt have to hate to say it. It is funny. And Jim is hilarious on stage. We're not all sheep here that hate everyone on Howard's show.

Not really. The dude was never funny IMO. Just an obnoxious boob with a more obnoxious laugh. I have listened to his "unleashed" show and found it to be mostly just drivel.
The beauty of message boards is that we all have our own POV's, even when I am clearly right on this one ;) :action-sm

Bruer is awesome, Ive always liked him and I always will, his mtv show was a little lame, but it was the early 90s. If youve ever seen him do standup with the band behind him you wouldnt say he sucks, its fuckin genius

Jim's razor scooter bit on O&A a few years back is still some of the funniest radio I've ever heard.

I'll go the opposite route here. I never really liked breuer. All the stories he told were the same about growing up on long island and then snl. to me he was funny once in a while. The one great bit he does is the drinks in the stomach and that is all i find funny in his stand up. I saw him in binghamton three years ago and all he did was tell stories that would build on other stories and then finally a punch line after 10 minutes. Sometimes the joke was funny (to me) and most of the time it fell flat (to me). Yes he is talented, not funny to me.

Glad to see not everyone here likes him. Just like some of us like Vos, some don't.
Every once in a while there is a person on TV, radio, etc. that just drives you crazy as to why (like Jamie Kennedy), and that is what Breuer (sp) does to me.
Everytime I hear his name all I can picture is this:

That dopey, on-the-verge-of-downs-syndrome eyed, "Peaked in Half-Baked" grin.

I found Jim's last 2 comic specials I saw on Comedy Central years ago to be very boring, especially that dogshit one with the band behind him the whole time.
His Pulp Comics special was good.
He was OK on SNL, not great. The bit did get old and he left at a good time.
As far as his apperances on O&A, they were hit and miss. He could come in and do really well, then suck suddenly. There were times he would just get really annoying to me.
I'm sure his show has it's short moments but it would never even get me to sign up for a free trial over at Sirius.

yeah that jim bruer hardcore thing wasnt what i was talking about, after he finished that he liked the band so much he had them tour with him for a while, they were great, they really set the mood for his stories which not only had funny punchlines but were littered with jokes.

I kinda like the guy. . . what times I've heard him on O&A were pretty funny. I really enjoyed "Half-Baked", even though it was basically him doing the "Party Guy" character he always was good at. I've heard some of his material on XM Comedy which was pretty good. All in all, I've heard more good stuff than bad from the guy.:icon_mrgr
The man is making a living and to my knowledge has never said a bad thing about the boys.
Leave him alone.

If you've never heard Breuer on the show, you've missed his (and some of the show's) best moments.
I'll always be a fan of the guy.
I was at one of the shows at the Hu Ka Lau in Chicopee where he recorded his CD with the band. It was a Than-tastic time.....you can also hear my drunken laughing on a few tracks if you listen closely. I swear I heard me.

so are we gonna become like the sfn fags and bash anything and anyone that goes on the competition's side? what happened to pest intelligence?
did he bash o&a to get on howard's good side? no? then how is this relevant?
just because someone goes on howard's show doesnt mean we should hate them. if you think hes not funny, then thats your problem... dont listen to him then.

I found Jim's last 2 comic specials I saw on Comedy Central years ago to be very boring, especially that dogshit one with the band behind him the whole time. You know when he does theater gigs, he actually does this every time, with the band and all? It's awful. I hated "Hardcore".
That said, when he does wednesdays at Stress Factory, just him on stage, hammering out new material, he's a funny dude. I can't take that away from him.
