I thought you would need iTunes regardless because the iPod doesn't like anything else besides iTunes, but I found an article on how to move your music files without iTunes. I didn't even know this, but I'm not a windows users ither, everyone should own an iMac. http://www.cnet.com.au/mp3players/mp3players/0,39036128,40061466,00.htm:action-sm :action-sm :icon_lol: :icon_mrgr :icon_bigg

My daughter uses a shareware program we downloaded (I think it was like a 5.00 paypal "donation", but it may be free now) that's a winamp plug-in that downloads directly to her ipod. Cuts itunes out completely so she just downloads music from wherever and loads it through that. I can get you a link if you want it.

Oh, what the hell, I found it, so if you want it, here it is:

So if you have a pc, you can't use Windows Explorer to drag and drop files onto your Ipod like any other storage device?

Fucking garbage. I have a Creative Zen which allows me to drag and drop on any pc without software. Plus, if the battery were to ever die, I can replace it myself without having to send ti back to the manufacturer. I don't get why an Ipod is better.

What really bugs me is when somebody might ask me if I have an Ipod and I tell them no I have a Zen Micro and they respond with, "Is that an Ipod?". No stupid, its an MP3 player.

I just replaced my broken Zen Touch (oh how I cried) with a Zen Vision:M.
My Touch breaking was the best thing that could have happened. Not that I didn't love my Touch, but the Vision is the fucking greatest device ever. Screw iPods with their mp3 only format & iTunes management. Creative is hands down the best when it comes to this shite.

I have an Iriver H320 and an Iaudio G3. They both rock. They are both drag and drop no software required, recognize Mp3, Ogg, WMA and some others I don't use. The Iriver has line in recording, line outs, headphone outs, wired remote, Picture viewer, Fm tuner, built in mic for voice recorder, and is totally hackable to change the Firmware (kind of like operating system) can play full movies with free open source program that converts them from DVDs. The only things that are better with Ipods are the maeketing and all the accessories you can get. Also the Iriver was released, out and discontinued before the Ipod color was even released so it was way ahead of its time.

The Iaudio is tiny, 1 gig and runs for 40 hours on 1 aa battery.

There is a program called myTunes that is open source, and a fairly decent replacement for both iTunes and the internal iPod OS.

Google it.

However, if you set it up to run, I don't know how you'd go back to the Apple system if you did.

windows media player should work, basically any program that allows docking to a device like real player...with some shit i have i dont even have to use their program..i just open the player as a drive but i don't know if you can do that with an ipod because i do use itunes but with my nexus 50 i treat it as a drive

the only official program that will do it is Itunes (Windows Media player works with just about every OTHER player out there - NOT the Ipod)

There are some "hacky" software programs out there that will also do it. Check websites like Ipodlounge for more info aboout those programs. None of them are as easy to use as Itunes,m however.

i cant seem to get my napster program to recognize my nexus...is this because i'm a lite member and didnt "register" to pay the monthly fee? i should still be able to load shit onto my player with it no? either way i just open my player like its a file and it works that way too..no safe disconnect but it's not necessary
