I was thinking about all the Lara Croft movies, Doom, and the upcoming Halo movie, and I started to think about all the games I'd love to see made into a movie.
I think Half Life would make for a great flick. They say that the makers of HL have seen scripts for possible Half Life movies, but refused to support them because the scripts were not good enough.
What games would you all like to see made into movies?

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 with a very high budget, of course.
I'd like to see Frogger made into a movie. Tape a camcorder to an overpass sign on a busy highway and have it pointing down at the road. Get yourself about a hundred frogs or so from a science supply store. Stand on one side of the highway with your frogs, release them one or two at a time, and scare 'em towards the road.
An indie blockbuster idea if there ever was one.

well, just about every video game i'd like to see be made into a movie already has been - Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, Silent Hill. sadly, they weren't great movies. sure, they're masterpieces compared to some of the worse movies made from games like House of the Dead or Alone in the Dark (thank you Mr. Boll), but they aren't exactly great movies. they may have had some good qualities, but not enough to redeem them. Resident Evil sucked because there was more action than horror. Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within sucked because it was boring. (i'm respectfully leaving Advent Children out, simply because it was more of a "thank you" to the fans of the game than a feature film to be enjoyed by the masses.) Silent Hill sucked because of the scatter-brained storytelling. not one video game movie has been able to hit one out of the park yet.
i guess if i had to choose, then maybe Metal Gear Solid. problem is, there were several Metal Gear games before Metal Gear Solid, so if they were to do a movie based on Metal Gear Solid (and i'm talking directly based on it, not some stupid pseudo-prequel, pseudo-sequel, or some shitty story that "kinda" fits into the Metal Gear story), they would likely have to do movies about those games first before even getting to Metal Gear Solid. if they don't do that, they'd likely just have to leave the previous games as a backstory that is only alluded to from time to time in the movie, although i think that's what maligns many video game movies in the first damn place - leaving the characters' backstories in the games and leaving the uninitiated viewers in the dark as to what the characters are all about.
see? this is why it's so hard to make a movie from a video game.

Robot Jocks was a ridiculous comic book of a movie.
Battletech, despite the goofy name, has a massively detailed backstory (larger than Star Wars) along with reasonably plausible scenarios and technology. Much of it is an analogy of pre-WW2 Europe.
there IS a movie (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9Amp6qSLOc&search=mechwarrior) short being made that takes place in the current timeline of BT . yes, it looks somewhat cheesey but keep in mind its done by mainly freshman/sophmore college kids. Its probably the closest we'll ever see of a battletech movie.

Can't really comment on the natures of Robot Jox or Battletech cause I'm not that familiar with either. But I had a flashback when you posted that picture and thought it warranted a mention that something similar was done before.

I say use Jason Statham from the movie "The Transporter" and "Snatch". Guy kicks ass and looks great in the suit.

Legend of Zelda, the story and music are perfect and if done LOTR style without being too LOTR it could easily be solid.
Now what about the opposite, movies (or TV) made into games... I still am waiting for Voltron the game and Thundercats, snarf snarf!

Halo is on the way. Peter Jackson is directing.
Knights of the Old Republic.
If they ever decide to make another Star Wars universe movie, they'd be best served to get far away on the time line from the disaster that was the prequels, and this would be the way to go. Plus, if it did well enough, they could get some sequels out of it with there already being a sequel to the first game and a rumored third game coming out.

You took my first choice. Great story, especially if you combine the two.
And there better be a third game, with that shitty ending to the second one, or someone's getting a throat punch.
Here's my other picks:
1) Jade Empire - great story, plus martial arts goodness
2) Fable - good strory and good "monsters"
3) Psychonauts - while it might be a little more kid oriented, it's just weird enough to work
4) God of War - and as someone said before, you don't have to cast Vin Diesel just because he's bald

Police Quest? Haven't heard that game in a while. Movie would sorta be like any other cop movie. Sonny Bond would be a take no shit kinda guy.
Its my opinion that one of the reasons that making a movie out of a video game is the storylines are allready established but they really dont work in a movie format. So they either change the story which the fans hate, or they try to work the video game storyline into a movie and it blows.
Just a couple sub par video game movies:
-Super Mario Bros
-Street Fighter
-Mortal Kombat (2 was even worse)
-Resident Evil 1 and 2
-Tomb Raider
I always thought Bionic Commando from the original NES would work.. guy with an electric grapling hook for an arm.
