Are there any personal benefits or drawbacks with either the Inno or Nexus? Owners opinions welcome.

Same guts, different case.

You're thinking about the Inno vs. Helix.
The Inno and Nexus are two different things.
The Inno can recieve live XM anywhere. The Nexus can not. It must be in the home or car dock to get a live XM signal.
Plus the Nexus doesn't have a color screen.

MyFi vs. Inno

I know the Inno can hold alot of shit but I dont have that much time to listen to that much stuff...

My question is- does the MyFi get a live feed off the base? And hows the reception compared to the Inno?

I only need space to record ONA.

Help. Going to beach next week and I need to buy something or I will be lugging my boombox and SkyFi with me and its kinda heavy.

Thanks to anyone at all??:action-sm

...had a myfi for over a year and loved it but it's reception isn't the greatest...the inno nearly solves all those problems and plenty of space to record o&a's entire show...:icon_conf

Yes the MyFi can get live XM without being in a dock. Just plug in the headphones and go.
In my experience the reception on the Inno is only slightly better than it was on my MyFi.

Where I'm currently living reception is crap either way (I don't know why I felt the need to contribute nothing...oh well)

I am very happy with my Inno, and only chosen the Inno over the Samsung since I did not like the buttons on the Samsung. I like a wood floor Inno.

Thanks. The teenage girl at circuit city told me the myfi only gets live feed in the base....which didnt make sense because I know I would have heard complaints about it from people that had it. I will get mine at myradiostore though. Thanks so much!:action-sm

I have to disagree there. I gave my old clunker myfi to my son to use. At the baseball games I go to reception is far better. And even in certian spots in my house I get reception with the inno the myfi never picked up.

Sorry to resuscitate an old thread, but is the ONLY differences between the Helix and Inno the lack of live reception to the Helix itself and the B&W screen? Do they both have built in FM Modulators? Are there any aftermarket parts that allow the Helix to receive live XM in it's "walkman" mode? The price difference between the two is so great that I am leaning towards the Helix (don't need the color screen), but I would enjoy the live reception outside of the home or car dock.

Battery issue is solved with the New firmware upgrade. The FM mods are no longer on the units. Because of the FCC they have disabled their use. You can always pick up a FM mod if its that important to you. The Nexus cannot get Live reception and The Helix can. The Helix is just like the Inno, The Nexus isn't. The Helix has a color screen, so does the Inno, The nexus doesn't. If live reception isn't important get the Nexus. I love My Inno, rememeber to cycle the Inno on and off in the Home dock for scheduled recordings to work ( I don't care what the new Firmware says, do this always). Other then that, I plan on getting a Nexus around Xmas, unless the Inno get alot cheaper.

A co-worker just bought an Inno yesterday and it looks like that it doesn't have FM modulation. From reading the posts, it sounds like they disabled this because of the FCC crackdown. However, I thought that they settled this. If I go and buy a new Inno in the future will it have FM modulation capability? I think my co-worker got screwed, if he bought one that doesn't transmit, and they settled the case.

I think FM Modulation is disabled with the new firmware unless the unit is docked in the car dock (possibly house dock too) if you are "on the go" they are assuming you are listening with headphones so they turn the modulation off.

My Tao actually turns the modulation off when headphones are plugged in, but if you just have the unit on with nothing plugged in it works.

Just curious, do you really need to have the car adapter for the Inno? If it's portable, wouldn't it play in the car unless you're in a shielded area?

Inno BLOWS away the MiFi reception.

One more question, are the Inno and Helix identical in capabilities? Is there any reason why the Inno is priced higher? The Helix is more widely available here at the electronics stores, so that's prob what I'll end up with. Also, is there any buzz of expandability (SD Card or the like) in a (near-) future release.

no it doesnt play in the car there is no modulation for your car radio to pick it up you have to buy a car kit cause the fm mod is built in to the car dock ( just got my inno last week) i wasnt happy about the whole fm mod thing. but it could work in your car if you have a cassette deck just plug the adapter into the spoy for the headphones use the travel adapter and plug in the cig adapter and it works fine.

I think I might have read somewhere that there may be an issue with the Inno pad data, but I am not too sure.

I'm a fancy man who relies on others to do my research for me. YOU go read the specs and report back to me

(Actually I read the specs and they look similar, but why the big price difference? Made me think I missed something)

Is the INNO a true mp3 player. I want to be able to download to it. Or is it just a replay device for XM. Also wanted to know where to get the best price with a car adaptor. I really need 2 car adaptors and the price on them are 69.00 each, and thats fucking stupid.

Yea, one thing I noticed with the Inno is it seems to prefer to use the terrestrial signal.. so even though I have 100% signal strength on the satellite, the terrestrial signal has been shit lately, and so I'm getting lots of fade outs when I record ONA. Very annoying. I usually end up downloading the show... from audible dot com... yea.... from.. audible dot com. Fucking great service that audible.

Oh and there is a slight issue with the pad data when recording 202. Sure would be nice if they got off their collective asses and fixed it.
