Hellgate London: Weapons & Videos.

For those not 'in teh know" hellgate London is basically an RPG a-la Diablo using 3D graphics from a 1st person perspective. while it looks more like a FPS the developers (who are all former Blizzard emplyees) insist its an RPG first and foremost. Shooting doesn't require twitch skills. You aim in the general direction and your good to go. weapons have slots for upgrades etc. different player classes, etc. It's multiplayer will be similar to the Guild Wars model. Sort of a co-op or "MMOG lite"

Thanksgiving day release of the third cinematic (pre-rendered CGI) trailer. It is simply stunning (http://www.hglondon.net/index.php/media/detail/247). get the large one if you have the bandwidth then turn up the volume and watch.

watched all the gameplay videos they released a while back, looks pretty fuckin fun.

For this video its simply pre-rendered CGI like any Hollywood movie that uses computer FX.


The game engine itself is built from scratch. It will use instanced areas like Guildwars for online play and the single player. It has to handle a huge amount of particle effects from the weapons. The Doom 3 engine would slow to a crawl if it had to render so many particle fx in a game.
