Opie and Anthony Traveling Virus Tailgate Party
Where: Either the back parking lot or as close tot the venue as we can get
When: August 26th 2:00pm

Wanted to see if there was any interest in getting together before the show. I live very close and could bring a grill/ beer pong table. Whatever else we can think of. Try to get banner to advertise the location. Just a few dirt bags having a good time. I'm going with at very least six people.

There will definately be a huge tailgate planned for PNC. Not sure if people are looking for seperate tailgates for people from different boards, or not, but as far as i'm concerned-- ALL fans are welcome, whether they are wackbag, paltalk, fba, .net, no board or any other board out there.

Whats up all?

I have 10 tickets at my disposal. I figure I'll probably have 4 extra by the time of the show... so if anyone wants seats as opposed to the lawn, hit me up. Face value + the stupid ticketmaster charge and they are yours... I don't want to profit... just want everyone to have a good time.

As for tailgating... you're damn right. I don't know how much you have to organize the tailgating since I'm pretty sure it will just be one big tailgate party with wandering, drunk/high vagabonds... I'm fucking excited.

I'll have beer, hopefully some beer pong, definitely a grill, and if you're all lucky, I'll bust out a few special recipies for the grill and MAYBE, just maybe.. if you bring me a beer I like, you can have some.

Fucking A... I cannot wait.

You are correct, sir. It most certaintly does not. For thier own good, if they were smart, they would have everyone possible selling beer. I can't imagine them having the usual beer lines and having OnA fans be understanding enough to wait in line.

PNC: Get them kegs popped and sell them EVERYWHERE YOU HAVE OPEN ROOM.

HA! I think you're right! PNC is much smaller than Meadowlands, Having gone to all XFL games, the Meadowlands (home of the Giants and Jets) couldn't handle the O & A fans with the tiny crowd of the NY/NJ Hitmen.

There are New Jersey State Police barracks pretty much on site there. When I used to see Phish shows at PNC the whole place would be teeming with state police, driving up grassy hills, driving all over the place, talking to everyone to try to get a guage on what was going on. They never had half the control of a Phish crowd.

Yeah...some chick's gonna WOW a cop and he's gonna haul her in? I don't think so.

It seemed like it was more than just hinted at, are the boys going to be at this thing? Opie mentioned that they were cutting their vacations short "to do the show on the 26th". I just kind of assumed that it was a travelling comedy tour that had their name on it, but are they going to actually be there?

Personally, i'd love to see a joint board tailgate, sponsored by everyone on Wackbag, FBA, paltalk, and anyone else who wants to join in. I'm new and I don't presume to know all the politics, and if that would make eveyrone miserable or not, but I thought i'd throw the thought out there. Maybe even have banners with the board names and some laptops set up on air card where people who aren't on any board, and just passing through can come and see what its about. (is that really gay? i'm sorry- i'm like that sometimes).

I'm new on WB so i won't try and take the lead or anything, but i'm organizing a bunch of paltalk people, and gathering some people from the other board, so i'm happy to coordinate efforts if that's welcome, (in my eyes, a fan is a fan is a fan, and all the boards/paltalk people should be able to to hang together,) but if not, I understand-- that's fine too, we can just visit each other. But I'm volunteering to help out in any capacity. :)

My thinking for the tailgate is simple --- get there as early as possible, and park in the farthest lot possible- (so while all the people pull in to park, they move up to the close spots, and we have lots of spots open for people to join up all day in the back)-- put up a bunch of banners (i've stolen a few from road shows over the last few months) and have everyone from the boards park as close to each other as possible. I figured mostly people will just bring lots of stuff and share (foodwise) but it would be great to co-ordinate some things like beer, ice, plates and stuff (see mjmandaly) boomboxes, tarps or coverings in case of rain or extreme sun, maybe a keg, etc.

Any thoughts?

Yes, they will be there.

HTG- I'm sure the tailgate party will be a fun time for everyone. When fans of the show get together for an event, I have yet to see any problems among them.
Alcohol usually brings everyone together, along with some wowing by the ladies.

I got a room at the hilton that is recommended on the pnc web page as a hotel nearby anyone looking for a room there should check into it I paid like 105 a night for a nice room.I am going up on friday and checking out on sunday can anyone in that area let me know if they know the hotel and how far it is from the show and also if there is anything to do in that area also remember my chick is 18 so bars are out of the question unless they either dont card or dont mind fake i.d's.

That Hilton is right around the Woodbridge business district, practically across the street from a major NJ Transit rail station. Pretty nice hotel and yeah, it's about 15 miles away from PNC. Real easy to get there from the Hilton...get out of the lot, bang a left, immediately get into the far right lane as the exit to the GSP comes at you fairly quick, get onto Parkway south (the first of the two Parkway ramps) and just head straight to exit 116.

As far as anything to do, what you can do is get out of the Hilton, follow the same instructions to get onto the Parkway and get off at the first exit which is for route 1. If you go onto Route 1 north you'll hit Woodbridge Mall, a TGIFridays and a couple of other places. If you go south you'll hit Menlo Park Mall, a great steakhouse, a movie theater, all sorts of stuff to do.

I work at PNC as a side job so I can answer just about any question anybody has. If you have tickets for house seats, you are free to roam around the lawn.

For this show, I doubt the ladies will have a hard time using the facilities (see: sausage fest). However, there are three separate areas with bathrooms (one on either side of the lawn and one downstairs from the lawn, next to the first aid station).

Any other questions, let me know.

Get there EARLY and park in the grass lot between the north and south lots. That is the only place I can think of that would accomodate a 31' RV. Otherwise, you would have to park it sideways and take up 5 spots.

Hey turkyman,

Any ideas for the best spot to park to get out fairly quickly, someone has told me there is an "overflow" lot...I couldnt believe they sell parking spots for $30. Thats a crime! Not even GA is that much! Thanks for the help!

If you're lucky they'll let you park in the grass lot. I went to see Bruce Springsteen, Phil Lesh and Friends and then Ringo Starr at PNC this summer. I was able to park in the grass lot for Springsteen and Ringo Starr. For Phil Lesh I got to PNC a bit before 11:30 in the morning and was immediately directed to that auxillary lot across the Parkway. That was for a show that started at 4:30. Unless I'm wrong it seemed very selective as to the type of show that they do this with (they did it for the same act two or three years ago).

I'm getting there early but I sure hope I don't wind up in that stupid lot.

It depends where you're coming from. If you're coming from the north, try to park in the regular lot on the north side (cones and minimum wage parking attendants will direct you that way anyway), but park at the lot closest to the Parkway. It dumps out right there. For the south, the overflow lot would be a good idea because you would already have your vehicle on the correct side of the highway, but you have to walk or take a shuttle to get back there.

The overflow lot will take too much time to walk back and forth (it's about a mile long path).

I have worked many concerts and I can tell you that no matter what, it shouldn't take very long to empty out the lot. Sold out shows (17,500) have emptied in under 45 minutes. You shouldn't have too much of a problem getting out pretty quickly.

The $30 spots are "premium spots" located close to the entrance gates. It makes people feel special. However, it causes the opposite of what I recommended above. It will take longer to get out because of everybody closer to the exit trying to merge and leave.

I think it was partly because of the merchant tents set up in the auxilary lot and partly because of the fact that people were there so early for a concert that started at 4:30. If they could put everbody in one general area, they could control things a little better. I spent plenty of time in that lot during that show, and I wasn't too happy about it.

we have four seats together,
but two of our friends are elsewhere, and we were hoping to make a trade for anyone in our section,

we'll throw some moula in for the exchange,
don't forget the PNC beers are real expensive

we are in Section 403,
Row F, seats 106-112

if you have seats real close to here, and are willing to do a swap,
we'll make it worth your time

we are also looking for two other seats in the same neighborhood
lemme know the going rate for these

PEOPLE SEEM TO WANT TO START PLANNING THIS THING NOW, SO HERE IS WHAT I POSTED AT FBA TO GET THE EARLY PLANNING STARTED. AS MENTIONED, I'M MORE THAN HAPPY TO COORDINATE THIS BETWEEN BOTH BOARDS IF YOU GUYS WANT ME TO-- DON'T WANT TO OVERSTEP MY BOUNDS THOUGH OR PISS ANYONE OFF :icon_mrgr

I think the early people should arrive at around 11- maybe even meet up at a rest stop near by and drive in together to start setting up banners, tables, chairs, whatever---and everyone else join in when they can. My plan is always to park as far to the back as the guards will let you, so the area stays open to more tailgaters as late as possible. If you guys want me to coordinate this-- just add in what you want to bring-- (or just bring shit, you don't have to be on a list, of course), and I'll periodically repost the updated list combining both boards. Also, let me know if you want to be in the 'founding group'. Those of you in the premium lot will have to either walk over to join the others, or have your own premium tailgate :icon_mrgr .

You could go there anytime. There are no gates or parking attendant windows to pass through. The only thing is they will fence off areas during the day of the show. But, nobody will stop you from getting there at 7 AM if you wanted to.

Is it possible/advisable to pick a section in advance and tell people where to meet? or better to just show up and find a place to park. Do they block off some of the lots and make you park in the order you arrive? Or can you go directly to a further back lot any time?

I checked today as I haven't decided if I can attend or not, but just an FYI to those others who do not have tickets yet, there are only lawn seats left. That means ALOT of tickets have been sold.

Turkyman can probably tell you exactly how many people fit under the roof at PNC (if I recall correctly it's 7,000+) and the lawn holds 10,000. I think it might be a little crowded.

God help the PNC.

I believe it's 6,900 for the seating capacity and another 10,600 for the lawn. I don't think this show's going to sell out but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the best attended one of the bunch.

7,500 seats and 10,000 lawn seats. Last count I saw, ticket sales were close to 9,000. This does not count any reserved for corporate seats and radio promotions. So, if 92.3 is holding 200 for giveaways, then it won't show up on the ticket counts.

It's possible, but I don't see walk-ups topping more than 1 to 2 thousand. It all depends on the weather and advertising for walk-ups. Most people already have bought their tickets, so the number will most likely stay pretty close to what it currently is. Either way, they are already past the attendance of many shows that have been at PNC this year. Last night, Poison/Cinderella had about 8K. Ashlee "coattail-riding" Simpson couldn't get more than 4,000. Apples and oranges, I know...but just giving some background.

I think this raises the possibility of a future booking closer to NYC. MSG must be jealous.

Yeah, MSG only holds 20000. If NJ got atleast 10000, i'm sure NY could have gotten atleast 10000.

Quick note for those planning to come late-ish...It took me 1.5 hours to get from mile 117.5 to the lot yesterday because of the Beatstock traffic. This was the worst I have ever seen the traffic two hours before gates opened, and it was mainly due to all the people coming from north Jersey. The crowd for O&A should probably be spread out more evenly, but just be ready to sit in traffic for a while.

I was travelling north from Seaside Heights on Saturday and couldn't believe the amount of traffic heading in for that Beatstock thing. I think it looked even worse heading on the southbound lanes. This was I think about 3 or so. That was crazy.

I'll be in the lot next week about noon with a charcoal grill and some beers. No way am I sitting in that mess of traffic.

Since this thread is getting more traffic than my thread -- I need help. My hotel is the Westin in times square. What is the best way to get to the PNC Bank center? I'm guessing a cab to penn station, then the train to the Matawan station. A flyer says that there is a free PNC shuttle to and from the venue. Is that correct? And how long is the show? The last shuttle back to the station leaves at 11:30 pm. I would hate to miss any of the show. PLEASE HELP!

Don't know much (or nothing) about the Matawan shuttle. But, I do know that the show will end at 11. Although the boys are fancy gentlemen, I don't think they're willing to pay Holmdel a hefty fine for breaking the 11 PM noise ordinance.

Your transportation route sounds about right. You'll have to take the NJ Coast Line with Bay Head as its last stop.

I can't post yet (don't know why), but I tried contacting the PNC Arts Center. Calling the phone number (732) 335-0400 absolutely gets you NOWHERE as its all computerized and you can never reach a live human being to talk to. I tried e-mailing them and here is the response I got: (see below)
I DON"T BELIEVE THEY ALLOW ANYONE TO HAVE AN OPEN FLAME. that means no Grilling, which totally sucks. Do you guys think they are bluffing?

"Parking areas open at 2:00 PM. Please be advised that early arrivals may be directed to satellite areas and restroom facilities may not be available until later in the day. Tailgating is permissible as long as you only occupy one space and there are no open flames permitted."

They usually let the 1st come 1st serve park in the parking lot closest to the main gate of the venue. I've been there for a few concerts, and i've never seen a grill in action, so I dont know if they allow them. But Im bringing mine anyhow, so fuck em.

Here's my PM response to JPARCH:

The retarts there are probably playing the corporate line. I work EMS there, so I'm not too familiar with the enforcement of the rules, but when I am walking or driving through the lots, there are plenty of people with both gas and charcoal grills going. It's part of the tailgating mentality! Therefore, I say grilling will be fine, don't worry.

I have a direct # to PNC, which when I called it on Saturday went right to a person. The # is 732-203-2500.

Also, in regards to enforcement of the grills, I never see security patrolling the lots, just NJSP. They don't bother enforcing public intoxication or underage drinking, so I don't think they're goanna care if people are grilling burgers.

Hope this helped, and where should I stop by for my free beer and burger?

ETA: The open flame comment might be in regards to campfires and/or bonfires, which I could understand as being prohibited since any open burning of this type is prohibited throughout the State of NJ.

10,069 this morning. That does not count the comp. tickets. When they announced that they broke 10,000, the count was at just over 9,000. Therefore, I would estimate the total in attendance to be near 11,000.

That's awesome. Well I hope those with great seats up front bring a camera and turn around and take some shots of the huge crowd. Said pictures should be used in response to any "four listeners" comments from Howard zombies or any other douchebags on message boards. You really seem to be in the know and I'm holding out hope that great seats will be released on ticketmaster last minute. What do you think the odds are that it occurs? 1) Sit anywhere...I think Ticketmaster does that for counting purposes.

2) Food and drink purchased in the venue are allowed. I think they allow sealed beverages (non-alcoholic) at the gate, but not sure if it varies by show.

But EVERYONE is are welcome and encouraged to join up and party with us.

And yes, Kenny and Keith completely blew my mind yesterday. When they heard we had done so much planning for the tailgate, and the PNC was planning to keep the lot closed until 3:30, they took care of it and got them to open two hours earlier. So gates will open at 1:30 and the early tailgate set up crew will be waiting there at 1.

Also am looking for another twosome for golf on sunday.. where the golfers at?

It's an indoor venue, so yes the show will go on.

What about those of us with lawn seating? SOL, bring umbrellas and our lil' yellow slickers?

Not exactly...The stage and 90% of the seats have a roof, but no real protection on the sides from wind & rain.

But the show will go on either way I'm sure.

According to ABC here it's a chance of a shower. Looks like a normal August in New Jersey.

Probably right after this deluge stops:icon_conf

What's the story with cameras? Will they allow photo and/or video cameras in to the show?

The Arts Center website says no professional cameras. I think normal consumer use cameras are fine. I'm bringing mine.

I'm heading out now. My special parts are tingling in excitement, and I just might have to touch myself.

See y'all there! :action-sm
