Just a reminder to all you PC shooter purists that the long awaited demo for Prey (http://www.prey.com/) will be released thursday afternoon.

It'll be a big one too as we'll get 3 single player levels and 2 multiplayer. The first SP level will be the one we've all seen from the E3 2005 movie (http://www.3drealms.com/prey/index.html#videos) that blew everyone away (you DID see it didn't you?) which is the bar scene where Tommy gets abducted as well as the cigarrette machine, his grandfather, several bar stools and his girlfriend.

hopefully we can get a Wackbag deathmatch server up eh? :action-sm

oh hell yea, been waiting for something besides oblivion to mess around with. the fucked up gravity and portal stuff in the demos looks awesome - have only ever really seen it in serious sam before, but nothing that advanced

Oops!!

The demo release is actually TOMMORROW evening at 9 p.m. pacific time (Midnight for the east coast)

In case you haven't seen some of the portal and/or gravity tech, these 2 movies will have you drooling over the possibilities of the gameplay.

Number Two (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uEkzsVIWFg&search=prey)

Really looks like a great game, almost like a HL2-esque game where they are really heading for the cool graphics/phsyics/sci-fi stuff. Will definetly have to try to demo and as long as it doesn't disappoint, reserve it.

A little off topic, but I can't start threads yet.....

Anyway, I was at EB Games, to check out the release date of Prey, and look to pick up something. I noticed that they redesigned the layout of the store, and only have a tiny section now for PC games. It was less than 1/3 of the space they had before, and no used PC games. I guess when the 360 launched, they needed another section.

Once the Wii and the PS3 launch, is that gonna spell the end of PC games at these stores? Are our nightmares coming true, and PC games being pushed to the side in favour of consoles?

just created my own server to fuck around a bit, player physics stink - wish it was more like quake3 ra or cpma, but with the cool gravity switches and portal tech that kind of jump-move- bunnyhop, curljumps etc. would probably be pretty impossible to code together. gonna hop on multiplayer later and singleplayer also.

weapons are pretty cool, remind me of the organic guns in eXistenZ heh. dunno what the spirit world stuff is for yet (was just messin around on my own) but thought it was something for after you die - a minigame or something.

ack tried multiplayer, lowest ping server i found was 120, should be playable but could hardly even move, think it was someones home server or something. fired up the single player, the intro 'level' is fuckin sweet.

I played it yesterday and HOLY SHIT!! those graphics are great.. The game has been in development since 1995. The walking up walls with fuck with your mind as you are going to have to kill monsters while you are upside down. Also the walls will shit on you as you walk around, also for a demo they give you over an hour of gameplayer in the single player mode.

I can't wait to totally rebuild my system so I can play this game at 1600 resoulution will all the eye candy on.

You can use the spirit to help you in the game. You can get into rooms with your spirit and help you open up locks and whatnot. When you die you go into SPIRIT mode and do a mini-game of killing some deamons and then back to the game.

How about the sound track of "Don't Fear the Reaper", while you are at the dive bad with the biker guys before the aliens attack.

Looks like the full game got leaked. its all over every bittorrent site. Seeing how I pre-purchased it I just downloaded the fucking thing anyway.

I do feel bad for Human Head studios. They said if the game didn't sell enough they might end up having to close down....

Anyway, the game is pretty much what the demo implied. A little less exciting than I imagined but then again my expectations were probably a little too high to begin with (keep in mind I'm only about 1/3rd of the way through so it could get better).

Anthony should be a happy camper as theres lotsa puzzles involving the gravity switches and area portals. Some truly mind bending.

That's a real shame. It'd be nice if people didn't fuck up the smaller developers, like some sort of unwritten pack. Of course like jimmy pointed out, there's alot of anonymus (i know...) douche bags that would leak the game without a second thought.

I concur.

Some of these deathmatch levels are mindbending. Kind of a bummer they only include two gametypes though.

One upside of the game is that a valid CD key is required to play so these warez monkeys won't get the game in its full glory.

BTW, I finished the game this morning. I'll have a mini-review up tonight or tommorrow.

no dedicated server files yet. as soon as they release them I'll be able to get pricing. most hosting companies won't host it without them becasue it requires you to actually run the game which requires a good video card, which most servers don't have and if they do its rather pricey. i'll keep my self apprised of the situation.

What are the PC requirements for this game? Even though I have 2.8 Ghz, 1 GB RAM, and 256 Nivida graphics card, I am worried that it will not be completely lag-free.
