to those baggers living in nyc, what providers are the best? i need to get my 360 hooked up to the internet and i guess im supposed to call time warner, but i was wondering if there were any other options available to me. its like 60 or 70 dollars a month with time warner. is there anything cheaper? i live in the hell's kitchen part of town if that means anything at all...thanks in advance for any advice.

How would DSL work for you? Verizon's rates are much less than TW.

i primarily want it for my xbox 360 - ill have to do some research and see if cable v. dsl makes a difference or not.

depends on your proximity to the dsl source. If you're right next to one, go dsl. If you're far from one, go cable. Just find out about ammount of traffic on each local network.

DSL is gonna be cheaper than cable in most cases, but speed won't quite be the same. But, $30 DSL beats $60 cable IMHO.

FIOS is great though. Eventually more people will be able to get it.

DSL should work fine for you. Most likely you will get the highest speed (3 MB/768) and it works FINE with XBOX 360. Call Verizon, its half the price of Time Warner.

I've had Verizon DSL since the days of the shitty 768 kbps DL speed and it's always worked for Xbox Live. At that speed you can't really host your own game, but it's fine for just playing online. If you want to be the host, than the 3 mbps DL speed is the one you want. I think I pay about $35/month for that one. I just saw a Verizon commercial that was offering the 768 speed for like $15/month.
