Well my 360 shit the bed, It freezes everytime I put a game in. I called Xbox customer service got the whole indian bullshit could barely understand him, long story short there sending me a box (aka coffin) to send my xbox away, and I receive either a new one or refurbished one in about 3 weeks.
Reading on other forms, this seems to be happening a lot. The average life span of the xbox's that have been dying are about six months. My lasted about seven.
On a good note for some reason I still have my 90 day warranty.
Has anyone gone through the repair process? Or is anyone one else experiencing problems with their Xbox?

Nightstalker did you actually suggest the Phantom? It's not real. The name and company only exists for investors to dump cash into and get shammed.

Microsoft has been fairly good about the whole process of returning 360's. It blows that it happened, but MS has a database of 360's with known issues and are taking them back no matter how old. IIRC, the problems exist solely in the premium consoles. I was in a rush so I wound up with a core and bought the hard drive, wireless controller, and the component cables separately.

Mine should be back on Monday. It went good for about six months, then right after the dashboard update, it started shitting itself. First it would lock up in games. Then the dashboard. Finally, it gave me the red Halo of death. Clearing the HDD probably won't help, as I'm sure support had you pull the drive off and boot the box, right?
Anyways, the whole process will take about 10-16 days. It's frustrating as hell. And that's just returning it one time. I know a number of people on their third, one guy on his fourth, and one on his fifth...at that point I'd be spitting blood.

Shit, mine's run great and I've had it since Xmas. I bought the PS2 and XBOX the days they came out and they still work great after what, 6 years now.

My 360 has been great. It's easy to blow how many units are being returned if you read the fanboy laced web.
My original Xbox that I bought at launch still works like a champ too.

i have a launch core with a harddrive - 3 red lights of death around the middle towards the end of may this year. less than 30 days after my warranty expired. 120 bones to replace. took over two weeks to get it back but new console works great.

I got mine in about 5 days after they received it.
Most people get theirs in about the same time.

It makes me wonder with most of the people that are having problems with it are the ones that leave the thing on for days on end, or are constantly moving it to other houses, or they aren't ventilated enough. Every console I've ever bought still works great. My PS2 and XBOX still go like they did the day I bought them, but I never move them and they have tons of space for air flow.

Wii will be great with kids and people that can't afford a 360 or PS3. I love my 360 and I can't wait to get the PS3. I'll pick up the Wii when it's $99 bucks.

Uh, how is the 360 pure crap after being out for 8-9 months? The Xbox had a bland and boring lineup its whole lifetime.
Please, explain why 360 is "pure crap".

Wii is without question not just for kids. Most people will either have a PS3 and Wii or a 360 and Wii, with others getting Wii as their main system. Most people won't get all 3 and won't have 360 and PS3 because of the prices. PS3's future is very uncertain at this moment, while Wii has a chance to be the best selling console this gen.

I see the Wii doing the exact same as the gamecube, selling well but being #3 in North America and #2 in Japan. Sure the PS3's future is uncertain, but it's not that much different from when the PS2 came out. Same with the price, take in the fact that the PS2 cost upwards of $600 when it came out, then the PS3's pricing isn't far off par.
