Alienware laptop won't power on :(

I hit the power button and it turns on 1 out of 20 times. Any one know what the problem could be?

When it does boot, does it remain running or does it shut down suddenly after a while? If it shuts down, then it could be an overheating issue.

If it doesn't shut off after a successful boot, then disconnect any external power and pull the battery for 1/2 an hour or so. After that, leave the battery out, plug the external power in and try booting.

It could also mean the power button isnt making a good contact. Also he said it turns on 1 out of 20 times..So its more likely a power issue...

Does the power button feel loose or anything? Does it charge, battery light?

maybe you need a new battery

I was gonna suggest the power button contact myself. If your case is loose, the button may not be making the contact with the internal button that it's supposed to push against.
