The AMD Dual-Core Optimizer can help improve some PC gaming video performance by compensating for those applications that bypass the Windows API for timing by directly using the RDTSC (Read Time Stamp Counter) instruction. Applications that rely on RDTSC do not benefit from the logic in the operating system to properly account for the affect of power management mechanisms on the rate at which a processor core's Time Stamp Counter (TSC) is incremented. The AMD Dual-Core Optimizer helps to correct the resulting video performance effects or other incorrect timing effects that these applications may experience on dual-core or multiple processor systems.

Booya.
About to slap it on my dc set up and lay some benches.

This is good news. I've been considering upgrading my processor to dual core when i upgrade my mobo to this: http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html?art=MTA2MCwxLCxoZW50aHVzaWFzdA
it now allows for both cards to operate at 16X in crossfire mode where as now they only operate at 8X. I have stayed away from dual core technology because most of the actual performance tests in game don't give much of an advantage if any over single core. In fact, some tests I have seen dual core performed worse than single in game.

yeah, for the most part... dc gaming has sucked balls. (Maybe serious sam2 was the only exception so far that I've experienced)
I game still on my opteron single core.
But.... I think this patch might be pretty good because I haven't seen shit like erratic video so far after using it.
Graw, Q4, Oblivion, and the Prey demo all used to shit the bed here and there on the dc... minimally, but you could tell.
Since last night, haven't encountered it.
(erratic video is pretty much the only shit I've seen fuck up on the dc, at least on my end. Imagine the frame buffering dragging along then having to speed up and catch itself for a fraction of a second every so often.)
Either way, I'm getting rid of my dual core opty(and nvidia shit) when the intel memroms come out in august.
Holy shit am I going to eat the memrom up with some ati xfire loving!!!1111oneone111!...
