Radio gig for Mohr?

WNEW-FM may Mohr than make up for the Opie & Anthony debacle. Radio insiders are abuzz that actor Jay Mohr may launch a talk show at the station.

The acerbic comedian, who starred opposite Tom Cruise in "Jerry Maguire" and with Jennifer Aniston in "Picture Perfect," was a regular on "Saturday Night Live." He also was on "The Jeff Foxworthy Show" and "Local Heroes," starred in his own sitcom, "Action," and was a frequent guest of Opie & Anthony.

Those WNEW jocks were fired after urging a couple - while on the air - to have sex in St. Patrick's Cathedral.

Commenting "that's interesting," Mohr's flack, Julie Nathanson, said she was unable to confirm if Mohr was going to WNEW.

Station spokesman Dana McClintock said, "We do not comment on rumor and speculation."

....from WNEW point of view, IF and I do mean IF they were to eventually bring back O&A, it would be wise to keep their audience, US, "captive" by brining in a friend of the show to keep O&A's audience, US, from going elsewhere on the dial.

I think that we will start to hear some stuff soon....Infinity had yesterday as a deadline to respond to FCC inquiry. I think with that passing, as well as the 9/11 anniversary, a lot of the media focus on the shit-storm has died down, along with the "fringe factor" dwindling. We may see them pop up SOMEWHERE before year end....YA NEVER KNOW

I think they, WNEW, were waiting for this whole thing to go away. From a media standpoint, watch how fast all of the cable news channels jump on the "next big story".

With all the crap that's out there now, 9/11, Iraq, Elections, all we need is another Gary Condit, and O&A will slide under everyone in the media's RADAR, back on to our RADIO

I would listen to Jay. Considering the fact that he was a friend of the show I could see him passing along some "clandestine" hope during his show.
