As for Uncle Junior biting the dust...I could see that, he's getting pretty senile and that cancer just keeps coming back. Chris might go...he's going to keep a lot of resentment over having to have had Adrianna whacked

The 2nd season, where Big Pussy gets it in the end. In my opinion, the show has not been better since. If I was to pick a favorite characther it would be Silvo. Wise, silent, but violent when its necessary.
One of my favorite episodes was Season 3 was "Pine Barrons"

I gotta say Steve Buscemi... it's a shame he didn't get to develop more before he got Dick Cheney'd.
Also Old School Furio.
My favorite episode in Season 4 I think the episode "Whoever Did This" the one where Ralph looses his head over Pie-O-My.

Ralphie.
Ralphie was definitely my favorite character, but my favorite overall season was Season 2. If for no other reason than the episode with Alicia Witt. I *love* her.
Bring on season 6!!! I just finished season 5. I really hated season 5 when it first aired but now it is one of my favorite seasons. Maybe it is from the lack of new Sopranos shows.

Paulie Walnuts and Silvio Dante.
Paulie because he killed the old woman (a friend of his mothers) and took her money so his tribute to Tony would be bigger that week.
Silvio because he killed Adriana LaCerva. "Come here you stinkin cunt."

Gotta agree with you, Furio was great I would have liked to see him fuck that French guy up though..it was great how Tony took over the debt and then turned his pit bull on the guy. The other great part of that episode was seeing Artie try and be a wiseguy and get fuck up in the process.

Your dead on, what a waste to just get ride of him in such a lame way. I would have liked to see Bobby Bacala kill Adriana rather than Silvio. We have only see a few short glances at the dark side of Bacala (in the bar intimidating the union rep & cracking heads once with a crow bar in a construction site) it would have built his character a lot to have him rather than Silvio do that hit. Meh what could have been.

I'm waiting for Patsy Parisi to get more involved. I think it was on Sopranoland or something like that, but the director was talking about him, saying that when he gets angry, he makes Furio look like a girl scout.
Eh, whatever. I don't think Furio would have been very good with the whole New York fued. That's where they would have fucked up Furio, had they not already fucked his story up. He would've been in Tony B's shoes instead, or, he would've killed Tony B waaaay before Tony S did.

The Boston Herald gave it a shitty review today in the paper
Everybody has a right to an opinion. I am sure there are some reviewers who are saying its going to be the best season out of the series. The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle.
That being said the one major issue the reviewer had had with the first episode is that you are re-introduced to a lot of characters and story lines, too much in fact. This is probably a fair critique but you have to remember that this is not a typical half-hour show that takes normal breaks. The Sopranos has been off the air for a while and so they need to "compact" a lot in the first episode in order to re-acquaint the fans with past story lines.
Anyway, Bostonians talk funny and therefor can not be trusted to form solid, sensible thoughts.

Well what do you expect, when HBO spends the first 5 minutes jacking itself about the Soprano's NYC premiere.

They wanted to keep you guessing about Tony.
If they show a preview for next week, the whole shock factor would be lost.
Great surprise ending. Funny since Melfi complains to Tony that he is caring for a man that conspired to kill him... only to have Junior shoot him while he is trying to help him

Bobby Baccalla has got to go. He is the gayest Gangster i have ever seen. Between Pushing the baby stroller and playing with his Trains in the garage dressed like "CHOO CHOO CHARLIE". Come to think of it, when did you ever see Bobby do any Mafia stuff. I don't think i have ever seen him tune some one up or even threaten anyone. Please make Baccalla sleep with the fishes

Bobby has not done much Gangster shit, but they did give him one scene right after his wife died when he went and gave some veiled threats about a union vote to some guy in a bar. Pretty good scene....
and bobby is the one guy I have never wished to be killed at some point or another... probably because he gives off that "hey- even you can be a gangster!" vibe.

Having typed that, the ONLY thing that saved it was the last 10 minutes or so....
Ok I think Tony lives but Christopher has to run things while Tony recovers. I think he;ll have problems with the NJ guy who works for Johnny.
I think Vito is going to get in a relationship he has to hide and the gang will think he is a rat. He'll either come out to them before they kill him for they'll find out after.
I loved whatever Uncle Jun screamed before he shot Tony and how he hid in the closet. he promises to be very funny this season. Also I loved the shot of AJ in class. Very funny

I constantly still wonder if Uncle Junior is fucking nuts...or is he doing this on purpose??? Either way...last 10 mins did save the episode...it started off very dry for a Sopranos episode...just gotta wait to see next sunday.
Oh the other thing I think is going to happen is Janice is going to laugh her ass off when she hears that Jun shot Tony. I think Bobby will laugh too and Tony will hear about it and think it is disrespectful.

They played up tonys weight int his episode and he got shot in the gut, so i think hes gonna pull through cause the bullet got lodged in his fat. Junior though has to go, if hes really as out of it as we all think. he knows to much and is to far gone to go into a home, he could let something slip. But hes also being watched by the feds because of his trial, if he winds up dead after Tony is shot in his house (which the police will know happened) the feds will come right for tony.
Also now that the feds are out of informants they will need to find someone new, my guess would be AJ. He's gonan fuck up and they are gonan try and get information out of him.
I also think someone in the familyt is going to take advantage of T being out of it for a while and make a powerplay. My guess would be Vito or Paulie, Silvio is to smart to get involved and Christopher is to dumb to try anything. Tony is going to see this and start grooming AJ.

I actually said it out loud when Uncle Jun yelled down the stairs, "Who's there?" and Tony said, "Malanga" or whatever, I said, "Oh shit, he is gonna shoot him" He was talking as if he wanted to kill that guy all episode.
When Tony said that jokingly, I knew something bad was coming. I knew he was going to try to shoot him, it was really cool that he actually did it.

I can say without reservation that this was the best "Sopranos" episode I've seen in more than a year. You see, because the show's been off the air and...
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y22/drakedrake/cricket.jpg
...I'm just sayin'
Seriously, I thought this was a very good beginning. I know it's fashionable to downplay how good this show is, and I've heard plenty of that today from various people. Clearly this series will always disappoint the A.D.D. crowd (I'll bet Opie really switched over to Lisa Loeb's reality show-- intentionally). But Ant & Norton were dead on about the Dr. Melphi scenes for the past several seasons-- a tired premise that has overstayed its welcome. Tony might as well be talking to a paneled wall-- Loraine Brocco has the acting presence of wood.
Ok I think Tony lives but Christopher has to run things while Tony recovers. I think he;ll have problems with the NJ guy who works for Johnny.
Well didn’t Vito say if anything ever happened to Tony, he was next in line to be the boss? Which then would have allowed Gene to leave and go to Florida; I would like to know how they taped that hanging it looked so fucking real, I’m guessing they had a bungee on him.

I'm sure Vito thinks that because he is the 'self-proclaimed' top earner, but I'm sure the other Capo's would have something to say about that.
Vito might have let Gene leave, but it didn't seem that the FBI was too happy with the move either.

I fucking forgot how much Tony's heavy breathing annoyed/skeeved me until Sunday...jesus christ the guy needs a puff of an inhaler just to eat a meal. that has to be the worst rumor ever. that would mean that there wouldn't be a war between nj and ny and come on we all know there will be. also, we'd know how tony dies which is just dumb. my 4 year old nephew could come up with better rumors than that...
Tony got shot in the stomach, right? That wouldn't kill him for quite a while, unless he had something like as a result of the attack. He was able to reach the phone, and dial 911, so most likely, they send the cops and find him on the floor.

I can see them doing flashbacks, sort of, as Tony is laid up. Him thinking about shit he's done, bad decisions he's made. Though action will go forward with different people manuvering to gain an advantage.
Tonight's episode sounds interesting, I wonder who is getting whacked tonight? Will the FBI look for a new person to flip tonight?

You did see some of the little "power" moves:
Paulie saying he's gonna send a stereo to the hospital, Chris telling him Tony doesn't need it right now, then Chris sending a stereo first.
Vito bitching about everything, putting blame on Baccala.
Was funny hearing Vito say someone else could possibly be a homo.
One of those transitional episodes, Tony's in a coma, both 'famiilies' distraught & confused. The whole empire is going to start to crumble.

My mother is a nurse and when I called her before thats the first thing she said to me when I asked if she watched that horseshit.
That was just an atrocity. One of my friends is sitting here saying that if you didnt like it, your a moron and you dont know how to think about TV. I tried explaining to him how many times these episodes happen where you say "it will make sense eventually" yet at seasons end they still explain nothing. Tony will wake up and we will never find out what that 'dream' was.
That episode took 2 years to write.
I saw someone wrote "at least the preview for next week looks good". Season 4, every single preview looked great and then by the time the episode aired, it was just terrible.

I liked the episode. It was interesting to see how Tony envisioned his life if he was not in the Mafia, with elements of "you are who you are" inserted into his vision. I also liked the "Godfather" angle concerning A.J. being dragged into the "family" by his fathers shooting. If AJ does do something stupid (highly probable) it will cripple Tony and lead to his ultimate downfall.
Anyway, the episode was a needed set-up for a power struggle within the family and a possible battle with New York. Besides, the show doesn't always have to be bullets flying all over the place and action-packed to be good. Remember, this isn't just a series about the Mafia, it's about the struggle to walk the line between a family life and the Mob.

I fucking hate the dream episodes. The metaphors alone were enough to make want to throw my tv down the stairs. Sure it set up a power struggle within the captains, sets up AJ trying to cap Junior, and it basically set up Tony being totally fucked up for this whole season which will really leave a sour taste in my mouth. Tony is this show, and if they leave him a vegtable for the rest of the season/series to "signify" some meaning they can get aids and die. Bullshit episode and this season is shaping up to be a piece of shit. I love the show, but this is bullshit to ruin the last season with this story line.

The Russian is not coming back. The point of that episode was to show Paulie falling out of favor with Tony.
Melfi's **** story didn't go anywhere because the whole point of that was to have Melfi make the choice of whether to use Tony to get revenge.

I also believe dream sequences are done to death, but the negative reactions to this episode come from a desire for the same, old mob shit that's also been done to death.
Pretty odd that the bbbboys want the same tired plots when they rip others for watching all the same crap. I like irony.
Um no, the negative reactions come from the fact that we waited 2 years for new episodes and we get last weeks (which without the last 10 mins, i thought was subpar) and then this crap.
Im not asking for the same old mob crap (even tho its a show about the mob) but I also dont wanna see AJ complaining about a hybred car. Maybe if the dream thing goes somewhere in the future and they reveal what the hell it meant to tony that would be fine but this show has far too much of a track record of throwing shit like that in there and then giving it little or no explanation.
The russian thing had far bigger implications just because the guy got away and they never found him. They led you to believe that something was going to come of it and then nothing. not a single word. There are far better ways to show paulies falling out with tony than to have an entire episode of chris and him in the woods eating ketchup packets.
As for people who say " you dont get it because you dont think enough about it." or that you "dont put enough thought into the symbols", fuck you. This is a TV show. We shouldnt have to sit there and analyze ever little thing just to get some hint as to why this is happening. If I wanted to think deeply about something, ill go back to school and get my masters.

To me its looking like a kinda full circle kind of thing. I mean the series started off with Jackie on his way out and Tony becoming boss (via Junior of course) and it could be the same thing, hope not cause a season without the Tony character wouldn't be as much fun but we'll see.
And to the people who bitch constantly about how much this sucks that sucks, this season's horrible...we waited 2 years for this...etc.etc.etc....you have a remote if you don't like it turn it the fuck off and stop your bitching switch the channel put on desperate housewives or some shit, flush your remote and go fuck your mother :deadhorse

What bigger implications did the Russian have? A Russo-Dego mob war? When has the show been about that? It's not the Godfather.
Paulie ended up in the back seat of Tony's car looking like a tired old fuck with mayo on his face. You could see Tony's total disdain for him at that point. It was one of the best episodes they had.
I hate when shit is all spelled out. I know it's a TV show, but that doesn't mean it has to satisfy the lowest common denominator of cheap soap opera plots. In all honesty, plots suck. Characters and their conflicts create drama.
People complain that there is nothing but crap on TV, but when something comes along that isn't immediately satisfying on the most base levels, people shit all over that as well.
David Chase probably knows this, which is why this season started with HL Mencken's quote about the taste of the American public. There's way too much ego coming from viewers in that they are not willing to be led by a storyteller. Ultimately, you might not like how it goes, but at least appreciate that the producers, writers, and directors have their story to tell, not yours.
The first two episodes were basically the same as the rest of the series. A lot of characterization and only hints of larger plots and implications. Don't expect that to change. If people don't like it, they shouldn't continue watching, unless you are like Opie and watch stuff to get mad.

I thought the episode was really good. Watching AJ with Tony scared the hell out of me, as well as when Tony's sister freaked out when she saw them changing his bandages. Tony reminds me of my father like 6000%, just without the mob part, so seeing Tony so helpless was a bit frightening to me.
I think we are spoiled by the first season and now it is just consistently disappointing. If something amazing doesn't happen within the next two weeks I think I'm going to let it go.

Didn't someone call into the show last Monday and say they read a transcript of synopsis of the 2nd and 3rd episodes? I thought the caller said the 2nd episode was a "stand-alone" ep not related to Tony's shooting or condition?!?!
WTF, did the guy just read the first paragraph and see Tony AKA Kevin in Hotel room.......
The show is waaaaaaaaaayy past its prime. Just kill Tony already and end the saga that could have been a good series.

If nothing "amazing" happens over the next 2 weeks, you will still be here 3-4 weeks from now. Many people here complain about how the show now sucks, but they don't seem to be changing the channel.

Tony's not coming back...or if he does, it'll be as a vegetable/retard
Impossible because I know that Swiss Miss filmed a scene with Tony that has yet to air.
I've never lost interest in the show. It's not only about action and mob story lines. The relationship, character development and power struggles are always the main focus and the mob aspect just helps expose human nature at its most base form.
Last night's symbolism was too heavy handed for my taste but Eddie Falco's acting was gut wrenching and Janice's false display of emotion was also equally nauseating.
BTW- my sister met AJ on Friday in the city and has confirmed for me that he is a complete homosexual. Her gaydar is 100% accurate.

I enjoy the way they do the "Dream" sequence on The Sopranos. I also liked seeing Tony as a business man. He was acting like James Gandolofini.
The episode reminded me of "Jacobs Ladder" with all the signs. Like, the lighthouse, being what I take as Heaven. Or, it could be his way back home. As it seemed the helicopter light was his way back to reality. He is in purgatory at the moment. I am interested in seeing next weeks episode.
I may be too easy to please, but I was really entertained by this episode. It left me wanting to know what's going to happen next.

If it were a movie...yes, it's drawn out. But we're talking about a one hour television show.
Obviously, the dream sequences are leading us to something big. We're not talking about a small character dying either, we're talkign about Tony. The main character is stuck in a coma and dying of a gut shot. It's huge, and we need to see how the other guys are giong to act as Tony is on his death bed, including AJ...

It was very heavily into symbolism (gee, ya think?) so that'll turn a lot of people from it...but just from the way it's going to set up the rest of the season, the tensions are so going to boil over within the family as well as with New York...Ant if you just wanna see guineas whackin' guineas, watch the next two episodes.

I am so glad you guys didn't like the episode. The show is ultimately about Tony and his two families. Everyone seems to bitch at these episodes because they are smart episodes that focus on his relationship with his actual family.
I suggest if all you want is non stop action, you should watch the shield. Not much depth but action packed. Please stop bitching because you don't like the main theme of the show.
With that said, I usually watch the episodes 2 or 3 times the week they come out. I won't watch this one again, but I still think it was great and vitally important when you think of Tony. From the begining he's been a tragic hero, so he has to die or go to prison, in order to fulfill the arch. He has to lose both families one way or the other.

I thought Tony's dream of being a businessman that was lost and trying to find his way home was a metaphor for Tony's conscience trying to find his way out of the coma. The show ended with him being called out of the coma by Carmella, and him picking up a phone to call home, but then putting the phone down again.
I agree, I'm not a big fan of the dream sequence stuff, but putting Tony in a coma is a big twist. It will be a real challenge for the writers and cast to pull this off. I hope that Tony isn't in a coma for the rest of the season. That would blow.
It does look as though a power struggle within the NJ family is about to take place. Do you think AJ will take out Uncle Jun, or get sucked into the family business since he has flunked out of school?

I loved the episode, personally. If every episode -- hell, even if every third episode was like this, it would drive me nuts. But you need an episode like this to balance things out. The show was a great episode. I liked getting a glimpse of "straight" Tony - Anthony Soprano, salesman, with his non-tough guy accent.

I liked when Vito farted
Farts are funny. That was the redeeming moment for me. I love the fact that Chase and Co. are not forgetting that this is just a television show. I didn't like this weeks ep. but it did something that another shoot-em-up episode could not have done....got people talking. If this was intended to be the wake up call for true fans, then they have succeeded. I'm on the edge of my seat, waiting for the next move. I have invested a lot of time in this series and I am not going to tune out for quite a while, so they have me in the palm of their hands.
The Sopranos has more loose ends than a plate of spagheti, but there's always a chance that the writers will be able to revive a plot from seasons past to give a major payoff to loyal fans. I remember buying the first seasons box set of DVDs and watching all of the episodes from start to finish. That was over six years ago and I still remember the feeling of regret for not watching the early episodes when they first aired. We may point back to this episode and say it was the "jump the shark" moment, but I don't care because I get to watch my tragic hero drive through the Jersey toll plazas once again. Welcome back, family.

I also enjoyed it. I felt after the premier this season that Tony dies from Junior's gunshot. This is the best way to watch the others fuck each other in the ass to take control of the family. All the references in the premier about Tony might not always be the head of the family was a setup to this. I'll watch it through to the end. Watching Tony not knowing who the fuck he is and not being able to find a way home while he is in a coma is an interesting angle.
And it's always a pleasure seeing everyone weigh in on where a thread should be. Guess the board doesn't need mods anymore.

I look at each season like a masterpiece in progress. Until it's finished we won't know how good it really is. Each episode is a weekly build to what should be something bigger and better. I know O&A complained about the "genius" of David Chase but look at this way. He draws into each week's episode to see what's going to happen. The episode on its own my seem to suck but when the pieces of the puzzle are fully assembled, we'll be able to fully appreciate this season. At least I hope so!

I know O&A complained about the "genius" of David Chase but look at this way. He draws into each week's episode to see what's going to happen. The episode on its own my seem to suck but when the pieces of the puzzle are fully assembled, we'll be able to fully appreciate this season. At least I hope so!
at least it looks like next week we will be seein some killin

I agree that Uncle Junior is a dead man. Is there any chance that AJ is actually going to make good on his promise to "put a bullet" in his "mummy head"?
I also agree with the boys, enough with the dreams Mr. Chase. Start wacking people. Janice would be a great place to start, then AJ. Hey, kill them both in a car accident, I don't care. I just want more characters killed.

I think the Sopranos could easily stay centered on mob activity, and the drama surrounding it, without getting old and tired.
Take The Wire, for example; same concept every episode - cops chasing drug dealers, drug dealers killing eachother, cops working with drug dealers, the politics of crime. Yet the show is fucking great, better than the Sopranos in my opinion.
The Sopranos has been feminized and turned into something other than what made it so popular.
 Right on the money sir.. Seems Mr.Chase has lost the formula that made the show popular and used that popularity to turn it into a symbolistic (that a word?...prob not) piece of crap. AND making people wait 2 years+ for it.....bravo sierra sir. You want to throw an episode like this in? Fine. But next week when another option pops up I no longer feel that I may be missing some great lines and some "water-cooler" conversation. I KNOW story lines arent gonna be wrapped up.....The suspense is gone. Yeah I'll still watch out of curiosity..but it aint the same.
Reminds me of the BS kings english they started spitting out in Deadwood. If not for the occasional "Kunt" that show would be out as well. And its a great show
And the WIRE kicks... always has.

Got a pre-release copy of tonight's episode. Strap in kids:
AJ has a long dream about joining the peace corps but he is conflicted about whether to go to Africa to help aids patients or Indonesia to help Tsunami victims build new huts.
Carmella decides to start selling Avon products but it causes tension with Jennie (Sac's wife) because she sells them too. They work it out by hosting a tupperware party together.
Meadow and Fin start planning their wedding but they have an argument over which kind of rolls to use for the reception - wheat or rye.
Melfi has a breakthrough with her psychologist.

Better than last week. The coma was actually a really good idea, even if the whole dream sequence portions were weak, because Tony will probably come out of it with a vengence which could eventually lead to his over throw by the captains.

Better than last week. I will say that next weeks looks alot better and I hope they off Vito.
So what was the point of him losing his briefcase, getting bitch slapped by monks, falling down the stairs, helping the monks and finding out he has alzheimers? Im still holding out hope that it has something to do with things down the road but all that stuff seemed completely pointless in the end with him coming out of the coma.

Far better episode tonight than last, thank fucking god. Vito needs to get ass ***** and then go for a swim with the fishes. Since they don't show the preview for next weeks show up here, I'm guessing Tony is going to be a little fucked up in the head for a week or two, so with all the shit going on with Vito, Bobby, Sil, Paulie and AJ it will be interesting to see how he handles it. Last I checked this thread was about Sopranos "discussion"....not kissing the shows ass!!! Ive been a huge fan of the show since the very beginning but this in not what I want to see in a mob show. Dreams, gay fat guys, goombahs making zombie movies....sorry..thats not the mafia I know....and trust me....I DO know. If and when it gets back to being a "mob" show and its good...I'll give it full credit for being great.

I was just happy last night's episode finally answered the question of WHO the fuck Paulie was stabbing in the Season Six trailer that was released like a month and a half ago.....I kept going back and forth between Junior and Ben Kingsley since the damned thing was released. Hmmm...turns out it was neither. Imagine that.
Steve Buscemi's appearance was great....and yet oddly sad.
Tony pounding on the hotel room wall and yelling was one of the funniest moments of the series....but, of course, that's just my worthless opinion.
The ONLY thing that's been annoying the shit out of me for this season: I am getting REALLY fucking sick of hearing about Billy Leotardo. It's been two goddamned years, he's FUCKING DEAD...get over it, you fucking crybaby. The symbolism started making sense after Paulie was talking to Tony in the room. However, I'm still not understanding any correlation with the monks or the lost wallet and briefcase. Can anybody figure this out, or is it just some strange unrelated thing thrown into his dream sequence?

I almost wonder if the whole wallet, briefcase and alzheimers deal was a sign of Tony not knowing who he is as a person anymore or something along those lines. It'll be interesting to see where they take this whole plot now, Tony was in a coma, may have some brain damage, so I think that's where they whole identity scenario is going to come into play. The best was when Paulie was talking to Tony and damn near killed him just from his voice and the shit coming out of it. Paulie may be a dumb shit but he is a funny shit;

I think I understand the symbolism:
When Tony is in the coma, his subconsciousness takes over and we get to see that deep inside he does not really want to be in the mafia. He becomes Tony Soprano the businessman, BUT his subconscious is holding on to the mafia lifestyle by the name of Finnerty. Finnerty is in the mafia, and that's where the suitcase comes in. Tony is holding on to this suitcase (the lifestyle), but has no idea why or how it got there. When he goes to that house with Buscemi, Buscemi tells him to "let go" of the suitcase, therefor letting go of his mafia life and dying. In the dream, Tony does not want to let go of the suitcase for whatever reason, and that reason is prolly because he's being held back by that same subconscious feelings of being in the mafia, and not in the same time.
About the monks, the only thing I could figure out there is that Finnerty screwed them over, and the symbolism there is that Tony screwed over a lot of people in the real world and that pisses off God which in this case is represented by the Monks who say that everony is a part of everyone else and everything, and therfor Tony is being a bastard to society. Kinda like being judged before you die.
Hm, that's what I make of it anyway; I hope that made some kinda sense.

What's with Vito molesting Finn? Just because Finn saw him blowing a guy in a truck doesn't make him gay, unless Finn had a look of lust on his face instead of shear horror.
I wish at the end they played the cancer Hawaiian version of Over the Rainbow, but it's kind of hacky now.
And does anyone else think that Tony's wife in the coma is Debbie Mazaar? It sounds alot like her.
The ONLY thing that's been annoying the shit out of me for this season: I am getting REALLY fucking sick of hearing about Billy Leotardo. Don't forget that Tony B also shot Phil at the same time. Then Tony S fucked him over with regard to revenge..
I think that we'll see that, for the purposes of future episodes, Phil needs to continue to be pissed at Tony S. and be willing to fuck him over at a moments notice (even if he is cutting his nose off to spite his face). I'm betting that Phil will end up consulting Vito in a power play to take the family over from Tony (probably over the objection of Johnny Sack). Phil's anger will be the driving factor in his action.

You make some good points. MY brother in law also told me that Kevin Finnerty is an alias that Tony used in Season 2 in relation to that plane ticket scam. I haven't had a chance to verify this yet.
Is it a stretch that the name may also be a pun? As the guy in the bar points out, Kevin Finnerty sounds like "infinity." Since Tony is dealiung with issues of the afterlife, the name may be calling your attention to that in a really subtle way. That is the only reason I can imagine them including that cornball joke about the guy driving a lexus, just to make you think of the word "infinity" in relation to his name. I dunno...

so far this season, is great, man if they kill paulie, that will be the saddest whack ever on the sopranos his been there for 6 seasons, and the best character, but yeah after he hit that guy in the leg , you kind of have a feeling that somethign will come of that, vito will be killed soon, hell yeah the war def is gonna start soon, theres never been real serious beef with ny yet and its always on the edge, this is gonan be it, people are gonna get killed, i wish they would get into more ny characters all we really know is sac and phil - so a bunch of nobodies are gonna start killing the regulars lol, vito will probably side with phil, man i can't wait, waiting a week is killing me! ahhhhhhh

Phil Leotardo definately wants to push Tony because of that "sweetheart" deal that he agreed to with Johnny Sac. Who do you guys think it is that Tony beats up in the back of Satriale's?(was that where they were eating sandwiches? Didn't look like the Bing.)

Best show of the year by far. Now this shit's getting good. I was surprised by Carmela telling Tony to watch Vito, she's never ever said anything like that in the previous years, would be nice to see that gay fuck get what he deserves. As my gf pointed out, I wonder how much the Schiavo activists paid to get that fucking lame ass tshirt on the show tonight. I kept waiting for that radical religious fuck to get beat by a bible by someone, I sure hope Tony doesn't go all wacko now. Good episode and I can't wait for next weeks.

Tonight's show felt like a show from the first 3 seasons, it had that zing to it that's been sorely missing this year and was absent for most of season's 4 and 5. Kinda felt for Paulie though, shitty deal being the son of a whore nun.

Folks, that is how you write a screenplay. Wow. Probably the meatiest and full script theyve written ever on the show. Great scenes and deep storylines and parallels between Paulie and the Barone kid. The scene with the rappers, old patient, Paulie and Tony was hilarious. Everything from evolution, rap, birth control pills, identity and good old fashioned Mob shop talk. Great fucking episode.
Could not have said it better myself. Probably one my favorite episodes ever. Thank you HBO On Demand, I'll be watching this again tonight. Beautifually written... and shot... it was a lot darker. I really liked the scene when Tony realizes the human race is just a postage stamp on top of the empire state building. Christopher says "I don't feel that way"... a great way of showing the extremes of philosophical thought, but his face was shown in half-light the entire time. Could be the black/white thought of it all... or a two face connotation? Not sure... but a fantastic episode all around.

THEY CAN'T WHACK PAULIE! its just not gonna happen, fuck it, if the best character on the show gets it before Vito, i'll cry
Paulie's not going to get killed. He's going to be the problem character this season. Think Richie, think what's his name (head in the bag). He is going to get weirder and more unpredicatble. Although I was sobbing my eyes out for his ma (aunt) when he stormed out. Poor thing. Gotta feel sorry for her.
I wonder if Jason's mother will come back to Tony saying "You promied to take care of my son".
I dont think the paramedic ended up having to pay afterall. He was left holding the envelope when they wheeled Tony out. Lucky break.

Better than last week. I will say that next weeks looks alot better and I hope they off Vito.
The Sopranos has many things in common with New Jersey's DeCalvacante crime family, and their boss was killed after his girlfriend reported seeing him sucking a big black cock in a club one night (was it cold out there?). Vito is way too careless in his closet and it's going to get him killed.
There's a great A&E documentary on the DeCalvacantes, if you have Comcast on Demand it's under A&E, Investigative Series, Elizabeth, NJ.

I thought he was choosing between the driver and the nurse guy..He could have gone with the nurse guy, but that wouldn't have made much of a statement..It was just look though, but I don't think it was a setup.
He was sizing everyone up. It was going to be Bobbie at first but them he went for the biggest guy. It is the only thing that makes me wonder if it was set up. He'll pay him for it either way I think.
Christopher is going to report those terrorist guys. I can feel it. I think he said something last season about wanting to help put guys like that away. Doing your duty or something.

The bar thing was fucking lame. You going to tell me that Vito ( a captain ) who knows that bar is paying tribute would risk getting seen there. Bullshit. They could have nailed him in a better way.
Oh yeah ...and he knows the guys collecting. Give me a break.
True, he could have come up with something better than it was a joke but I guess they need to write it so he is scared and uncertain. You would have thought he would have traveled alittle farther though. Very stupid. PLUS, could they have given him a more cliche gay outfit? He looked like the Village People or someone coming out of a glory hole in the 70s. Too bad he wasnt dancing with Harvey Weinstein from Torchsong Trilogy.

Eh...maybe Vito only knew them cause they were New York guys. I'm glad that they're going to off him like that (either blowing his own head off or whatnot) and none of that whole "well I was blowing Finn the other day..."
Definately enjoyed this episode. In the "next week on" when Christopher comes in and says "T, you ain't never gonna believe this..." I'm thinking it's gotta be Vito being found splattered all over the hotel room. Either that or he finds out that his two raghead buddies are just that...
No Im thinking Christopher is talking about something happening over in John's camp and that will be how it gets brough up that T is going to have the guy killed. Too obvious for the terrorists, especially since I think hes gonna go to the feds with the info.

If those where New York guys, and Vito gets at them, then it could spark a war. Tony obviously picked the strongest and youngest guy to regain his alpha male dominance. Well done scene. Quick question, Sacks wants Tony to knock off the smaller guy (Frankie Valle) at the wedding correct? He was the guy at the beginning who got the letter then it said 6 weeks later.
Johnny's ego is crushed. Not only is he brough to his daughters wedding in shackles but he has to ask a favor of Tony in order to maintain his control. SO in essence he has lost his control and given it to Tony. Then after the wedding. If GInny Died it would be way too much, but so good. They could have a full on war if Ginny Died. Wonder what Phil is going to do now that he has publically disrespected Johnny?
Junior is so pitiful. I feel horrible for him. Tony will forgive him.

Anyways, what the hell is going on with Tony's nose. I know that Gandolfini is a fat man, but no matter what scene he's in you can constantly hear him wheezing and attempting to breathe.

Next to go; Rusty, Johnny Sac, Junior, or Vito (if he hasn't already eaten a bullet)?
I'm thinking the Arabs are working with the feds, either cooperatively or unknowingly, and all will be revealed by the end of the series in a big take down of the Soprano family with the Arabs having a role in evidence to back it up.
When Christopher ran into the feds in the sandwich place and they asked about Tony being in the hospital and brought up the Arabs I thought something has to pan out with those two guys.

I also think something will come of this but I think they are not working with the feds. I think Christopher will start working with the feds (not giving up family business but just info on the two middle-eastern guys) because he believes they are terrorists. Tony will eventually find this out. That, combined with the fact Christopher is trying to make it in the movie business again against Tony's wishes will eventually end in Tony "correcting" him.
I'm thinking the Arabs are working with the feds, either cooperatively or unknowingly, and all will be revealed by the end of the series in a big take down of the Soprano family with the Arabs having a role in evidence to back it up.
ding ding ding...I think they're working with them to. although I'm not sure they'll take down the whole family (or any of them, Chris may figure it out and kill them first).
As far as Vito goes, I don't think he's going to kill himself or kill those guys who saw him in the gay club.
I think he's just hiding out, expecting that those guys will talk, word will get back to Tony, and Tony will have him killed. This'll probably happen, they'll find Vito, and kill him in a most heinous way.

You mean the one where he said greasing the union or something?

. The only thing that happened was everyone found out Vito is an ass pirate... 60 min? a whole fucking hour and nothing was settled. In fact they started new untied up crap.... what a waste
ha ha, their just purging the audience. I love it.

Based on Frank Vincent's comment when he was on the show, I expect something to happen to his character next week. Maybe Vito will kill him if he goes after him?

"Alright let's take this in the back."
"Yeah, that's what Vito did."

Not bad, amazing how Vito can hook up with another fagget that quick in a antique store in butt fuck no where. Show is shaping up though for one big blood bath at the end of the year. Anyone else notice the dude in the lawyers office checking out Meadow, then at the end of the show Finn and Meadow are going at it. Me thinks she goes after old laywer dude.

There was the one about greasing the unions, but the first one that Chris laughed at and Tony yelled at him was tony saying something like "how are we gonna take some guys word for it. Maye the guy had a hard on for him".

Probably one of, if not the funniest episodes all season.
The aids line was fucking great but what made it was the look on Pauly's face when he yelled, "YOU MEAN FUCKING AIDS!?"
BTW,
I used to live in NH, and you would be hard pressed to find 3 fucking homo's in the entire state! Somehow, Vito finds them all in one little town...

I speculate she breaks up with Finn and starts seeing the guy who sold the garbage business. Then she tells Tony that Paulie is shaking him down for 4k a month.

Lots of funny in that one.
The camera angle of the baby sitter made the episode all worth watching. ;)
God damn Vito. Kids in bed, wife's out. Bang the sitter you fucking homo!

Since Finn really only proposed out of confusion/fear, so I definitely see them breaking up. Actually, I wouldn't put it past Meadow jumping off into total whoredom and banging both the lawyer AND the trashman. Toss in Terry Arabiatta as well, just for fun....
she's going to dump Finn. I think the guy from the office wont come near her b/c she's a Soprano and that will piss her off.
I wonder if Tony will let Vito disappear into the New Hampshire gay lifestyle and never be heard form again.

I think Vito will be back, and it will lead to some hysterical scenes. I guess Vito being gay is based on a real NJ gay mob guy. They let him live since he was so good at what he did, just like Tony said last night.

Guys WTF is this? Tony is always eating this and I have no clue what is is. They pronounce it like this
Bee-ah-lee.
I have no idea how to spell it.

Its like a bagel, normally with onions. Its actually a cross between a bagel and a roll. It is spelled Bialey. Not as doughy as a bagel, but more filling than a roll.
I am sure someone else will come along with a better description.
Its a NY thing

they are excellent. Check your grocery store for the Thomas version, not really the same, but it is pretty decent.

Biali
Like Dopie said, it's like a bagel, only the middle has onion's in it.
The guy who plays Vito says he suggested he be gay so he would stand out and get more air time

The funny thing is, is that I really didn't like Vito all that much but for some reason, I feel bad for the guy.
No matter how Tony feels, he HAS to either whack him or turn his back.
Sucks all around.
I see the guy "waddling" around and not being able to help himself.
I mean, he had a GREAT living with the construction and all, one of the best mob rackets, and the wife and kids.
It makes you think a little, ya know?

I don't feel sorry for Vito, I feel for his kids and wife, but not for that fudge packing faggot. I had almost given up hope after the dream episode, but this season is getting real fucking good. It's going to drive me nuts though with the race being on while Sopranos is.

I guess the Melfi crap is inevitable every time, just like explosive diarrhea. I actually look forward to those scenes now bc I picture O&A and Jimmy making fun of her. Just like explosive diarrhea, it sucks during it, but afterwards you can reminisce and joke about how awful it was. God, she's so horrendous you just want Tony to call her a cunt and throw her dumb silver tissue box again.
By the way, the movie The Basketball Diaries was on the other night, and Lorraine Bracco plays Leonardo Dicaprio's mother, what a nice lil surprise.

actually the melfi scene this week was one of the funniest scenes of the whole season. gandolfini's acting when he was talking about queers was classic, from start to finish.
"although...the lesbian thing with the uh..."
watch the goofy arm gestures he makes to impersonate lesbians :icon_lol:
also "in your circle i'm sure you get all kinds of gays, and uh ... trans-whatevers of all stripes". reminded me of chappelle- 'mexicans, a-rabs, and all kinds of different chinks'
