Richard Neer, former WNEW DJ and current WFAN sport commentator, is back on NEW doing sports talk in the morning. After O&A took over the station, he left along with Carol Miller and the rest of them. Maybe Scottso is getting ready for a comeback, too? When I first heard "The FAN at 102.7" in the WFAN announcer's voice, I thought they had gone all-sports, but R&F are still here, thank god.

I'm not a big fan of the show, most of the time I listen to Imus, but here's some background material on Mr. Neer. I like his Giants show on Sunday, tho. And I intend on reading his book, because I grew up with that stuff. Radio just sucks now.

I think classic rock would be a big mistake. Especially since Opie smashed the entire "Worlds greatest Rock 'N Roll library" over the last three years.(hehe) You can't go back, and at the time they were the best at that format. They need something completly different, which won't happen in today's corporate atmosphere.
I'll take my lumps for this, but I listen to WFUV alot. Now more than before, just to hear Elsas,Scelsa, and Fornatle. My point is that I prefer college radio, to the pap they shove down our throats now, and even that(intelligent free form college radio) is going away. Soon it'll all be the same, no matter what you put on, especially with satellite thrown in the mix now. Sorry to rant, Radio has always been very important to me, and the corporations have ROOONED it!

I hate Fornatell.. When he was on with Howard he didn't get his panties in a bunch when Howard busted on him...
They interveiw him when O and A were cancelled and he was like " GOOD RIDANCE they took the GREAT WNEW name and drove it into the ground with their show over the last few years." Shut up you old decrepted POS....
Talking about falling from grace.. He get fried from 2 TWO!! major radio stations in the city to now playing music on a college radio station..
I don't mean to rag on college radio but the college have stations for the students to run not Professional Dj's.
That would be like Frenchie losing his restaurant and has to work at McDonald's

Okay we're back to this. I like Neer's show on Saturday, and I like his Giants show.
I think classic rock on NEW would be a big mistake, but I like FUV. I hated Fornatle's response, in the papers. I thought he was very petty, and small-minded. But he's entitiled to his opinion as are we. We agree on this. I guess I brought up a sore subject. sorry.

No it's not a sore subject.. I just think Pete Fornatel should look in the mirror and realise how much of a failure he has become in his career..
talk about having the HOT chick in school and end up being with AIDS infested crack whore a few years later..
I have nothing against NEER at all I listen to him all the time on the fan..
I didn't mean it attack college radio it wasn't about that. College radio is great because it gives the students the freedom to play stuff that isn't on regular radio.

Okay,
We agree on Fornatle, he acted like a pompous a-hole.

Also agreed. And I still look forward to reading his book.

Bingo! That was my point from the beginning. And it didn't used to be that way, some stations used to be free-form, and the corporations roooned that. We should have the option to listen to what the Jock wants to play, good or bad. Not what the corporation tells the jock to play, and then have phony requests that were taped in advance, and played back like they are spontaneous.

I have Xm which is great because there are station that play stuff that you will not hear on regular radio unless it''s Sunday morning about 3 am and have nothing else to play....
No bull crap play lists... listener driven kinda like Eddie Trunks show.
