Loved Samhain, loved the first four Danzig albums, but he turned into a fucking hack after that. Some songs were ok on the following albums, but he got way too wrapped up in sound effects and not doing them well. Then he started believing he was this character he created for himself, then gets the shit kicked out of him by Danny of the North Side Kings. Now it's all cash grabs he's making.

Once they lost John Christ and Chuck's phenomenal drumming, Danzig was done.

Anyone else ever like him?

I like the first 3. Lucifuge being my favorite. I really like John Christ, and his style of playing. I think without him, the Danzig sound is gone. Chuck was fun to listen to on drums as well.

Man, it's a long way back from hell when you let the day begin

Glenn's voice still ranks up among my favorites.
Exanimate echoes my sentiment on the group, samhain, and his subsequent endeavors. The style he flexed in Samhain and the first danzig albums.. wow. Like nothing I had heard up to that point.
Elvis meets Jim Morrison meets Joey ramone.
Dunno about you guys, but thats music to my ears.

Absolutely

The only Danzig song I've ever heard is Mother.
Bought the single back in like 95 maybe?

I think Glen bought into his own hype to much. Started believe that he was a big, tough, evil guy.

Love the Misfits as does everyone, but never could get into Danzig or Samhain. Everyonce in a while there'd be a song I like, but it takes more than that to hook me.

I'm with everyone else, it looks like.
After 4, it was a train wreck.
One of my favorite Danzig things was at the end of 4. Don't know if it had a title. The Demon has no soul. Fucking creepy and fantastic.:icon_cool

Right after this happened, I went on some Danzig fanboards just to see what his fans would have to say about their boy being thoroughly owned.

One of the discussions still cracks me up to this day, It went something like this:

Danzig fanboy: I'll bet Danzig consumed his soul after he got off that lucky sucker punch.

Funny fucker: The only soul he was in a position to consume after that ass kicking was the sole of that crazy hillbilly's boot.

then gets the shit kicked out of him by Danny of the North Side Kings.

Disclaimer: I'm a HUGE Danzig fan, from The Misfits all the way till Circle of Snakes.

Glenn was born in 1955, which makes him 51. He had just played a set and got off stage and went up against a kid who is MUCH younger than him, taller, and bigger than him. Exhausted, old, shorter and smaller, wow, I can't believe Danzig didn't completely own the guy. I just look at the video in context. Also, what was the last thing The North Side Kings did? Oh yeah, nothing. Its sad when your claim to fame is you knocked down an aging rock star after he came off stage from performing a set.

I think Danzig's newest album, Circle of Snakes, is probably his best since Danzig 4. I enjoyed it, and thats all that matters.

As for "grabs for cash", well considering all the Misfits merch you can buy at places like Hot Topic, and all the highschool kids you see sporting it, I imagine he has enough of it and that the meager record sales of his latest albums don't add a whole lot.

Glen shouldn't have pushed him and acted like a badass, if he wasn't prepared to suffer the consequences. 51, tired, or whatever. He put his hands on the guy, and got knocked out.

You are misguided and not telling the story as it is.

First, if Danzig is an aging rockstar, he shouldn't have used physical force, also known as "small man's syndrome" against a huge meathead. He should also not be a diva, which screwed people out of money when his wishes to break the stages down were heeded.

The other issue you fail to mention is the two sites going at it with one another. Danzig's site made mention that Danny pulled a knife "or other sharp object" on him before he knew the tape existed. Danzig claimed he was going to tell this to the police. The NSK's did not post the video until Danzig claimed he was going to file charges for assault with a deadly weapon, which would have been funny because he would have been charged with making a false statement. He also mentioned how he was attacked, unprovoked. The tape showed otherwise, along with the full argument with Danny asking Danzig for an explanation of why he did what he did. Danzig then tells him to go out and play, but the stage was already broken down, and the fans left because Danzig indicated the show was over. Why? He had to play early.

So let's see... Danzig made false claims, owned when the NSK's released the video. Any charges Danzig was planning on filing got squashed. Danny was really classy in the whole matter on his site. He and the NSK's don't play for a living. They only play for fun. They have other careers to keep them busy. Danny even mentioned how he got lucky, while holding his ground about the situation he was put in by Danzig.

Get the facts right.

And Danzig lost the rights to the Misfits trademark several years ago in a lawsuit. Little to no money there.

The moral of the story...

Tired old rock stars should know their place.

Glennda forgot his place, and foolishly provoked a man he should not have provoked. He shoved the man and then stood in a flexing pose, arms at his side... a pose which may look very intimidating when viewed in the mirror at Gold's Gym, but has no practical application during an actual altercation.

All the record sales, Jeet Kune Do training, and "context" in the world doesn't change the fact that Danzig got his silly ass laid out with one punch.
