as i stated in the other thread, it was possible they were rookie Pests who don't know when they're crossing the line. there are probably more new Pests now that O&A are back on terrestrial, so those new Pests have never been involved in Pest missions and attacks and don't know when they're crossing a line. they just want to be Pests, get caught up in what they're doing, and don't put much thought into the legal ramifications of their actions. if they had gotten their asses kicked for it, i would have agreed that they deserved it.

Ok, here's my opinions:

1) Doughboy rules.
2) Anything the pests do in the name of the show is ultimately Opie and Anthony's responsibility. They are aware of this and take as many steps as they can to ensure that the fan interaction with the show is within the boundries that are established. If someone becomes 'take things too far guy', O&A point it out, and clarify what they are looking for.
3) The truly unfortunate thing is that far too often, Opie and Anthony are 'Take things too far guys.' As Doughboy correctly pointed out, Opie suggested the airhorn. Hell, Sex in a Church was the highest point getter on their SFS3 sheet. I'm not sure if there's ever been an instance where a pest has ruined something without O&A giving them specific instructions on how best to ruin it.
4) Two of the best aspects of the show are fan interaction, and the fact that they will continue to push the envelope until they get fired again. Pest attacks are the conglomerated, mulata, mongrel hellspawn of these two aspects of the show.

Hate the pests, hate their role on the show, but don't blame them. O&A created this monster, and they're very aware that one day it will destroy them.

Exactly, noone that has been posting here seems to have actually been there at the time (or noone has claimed to be anyway), so anything anyone is saying can be wrong. However the facts that we do have seem to point to it not being as big as people here are making it out to be, whoopie didn't even make THAT big a deal out of it, she said how she felt about seeing people and that was it...she was never specific about what those people actually did or didn't do. In my opinion, some of the stuff the "pests" do is kind of funny. I enjoy listening to them call in other radio shows and make the hosts' lives miserable. But the ones who feel a sense of entitlement or affinity with the show because they call up a radio show or yell at a news reporter, that's when it starts to get annoying. The O+A army was funnier when it was sort of faceless fans of the show that would do funny shit. It started to lose it's appeal to me when it became an achievement to be a "pest."

- Did a Pest assault, threaten, or intimidate Whoopi?
- Did the Pest go too far if he did?
