So I'm listening to WYSP yesterday....

I had to go a few places yesterday afternoon, and didn't have my XM receiver with me so I was listening to good old WYSP. They were giving away tickets to the Virus show @ The Tweeter Center. Not once did I hear it referred to as a comedy show, nor did they mention the lineup. I heard it referred to as O&A and their "nasties" and O&A's Virus. They plugged the $10 lawn-seat special for the weekend, which was cool. A casual listener who maybe isn't familar with O&A probably has no idea what this event is all about.

mind you this is the only promo work that YSP is doing for it. if you aren't a fan of YSP, then you have no idea this is going on here. not a billboard, not one commercial. we got nothing. if they want the boys to take over they need to do more work to get out their name that they are back. there are people in this city that don't know the boys are back and when they find out they give the "really, i haven't heard about it".

There has been no promotion of the show here at all. I only know about it cause I listen to the show every day on XM. I got four tickets, and the friends I'm takin with me had no idea about the show till I told them. And what's worse is I asked for lawn seats when I got my tickets and they told me there were none. I'll be there cause I wanna be, but it seems nobody knows about the show, and that sucks.

I posted it here so they would see it. As far as them not promoting it because it's sold out... Promoting the event = promoting the show. It's really a simple concept. Also, it would be more-gooder if they sell out the entire place, including the lawn seats.

BTW, I was out and about again today and heard more of the same... they were giving away "O&A tickets" and if I had cell signal at the time, I would have called in suggested they promote it a little better. But I was in this elitist douchebag town (Yardley) where there are no cell towers, and thus no cell service.

There is a nice billboard I pass several times a week on the PA turnpike about a mile or so in from the NJ connector. It's got an advertisement for some outdoor/hunting show that was in FEBRUARY. It's a fine choice to be an O&A billboard. Plenty of commuter traffic passes it every day, as well as lots of tourist traffic. There are several billboards along I-95 that are available as well. Friggin Preston and Steve have billboards. I have seen them more times than I'd care to remember. Someone needs a kick in the ass so they get with the program.

The show isn't sold out. I don't know how the marketing of the show works but I think part of the money comes from marketing money from CBS and maybe they didn't get it yet? No clue.

Kidd Chris is still a very good show. The problem is that the station management took away all his old bits and tapes. He is handcuffed with what he can do, and he complains about it all the time. Still, the ratings show he is #1 in the market among male listeners, so the show is a huge success. He has said that he would sign a long term deal to stay in Philly in a heartbeat, since the town is mean spirited enough that his show works.

I agree that there has been not enough promotion of O&A. Too many people got converted to that bleakly unfunny homo show Preston and Steve, and don't even realize the better option available just a short twist on the radio tuner.
