It's been awhile, and with all the newer members, I thought I would bring this one back.
The pup is growing like a weed, and the fat one seems to like him very much.

Oh ya they rock (wicked smaht, affectionate etc...), but lets say they are always on... and being working dogs you have to give them something to do otherwise they do go nuts. My now wife has had her since she was a puppy and lets say the first three years were hell.
If you are looking to get one I would suggest looking at one of the many border collie rescue operations as people see like Babe and expect to instantly get a dog like you see in the movies.

This is Kitty No-Eyes. Notice she has no eyeballs, just sockets. She is a pure bred Ragdoll born this way & rescued from a breeder that was going to deystroy her. Cat purrs almost constantley, and gets excited & plays like a kitten still, funny as shit when she gets too worked up and runs into things. Just for shits & giggles, I move the furniture around just to confuse her (that old gag).

nope, its just 2 holes, and yep, its creepy as shit. especialy when she "looks" at you. wish I had a better picture so you could see them better.
Ragdolls are an awesome breed. the only issue is the hair, but other than that they are the most passive & affectionate breed I've ever come across. They tend to stay kitten-like a lot longer than other breeds, so they don't get lazy & stop playing like other cats.

When I figure out imageshack, I'll put up my Border.
Borders are smart fucks. But you need lots of room for them, they won't like being kept in the house. If you have a decent sized yard, that'll do fine.
And steve is right, they herd everything. We once had a party in the yard and all the kids were running around, damn dog wound up nipping the kids that left the group. Kept the kids in line, though.
I don't think I'll ever get another breed. Borders for life for me.

Well luckily I work from home... so when I see she is starting to get squirrelly I take her outside for 10 or 20 minutes and kick the soccer ball around.
If we do go out... we just tell her we are going to the store and we will be back in a while.
Gonna see if I can rent her services out to the town to herd the geese down on the beach.

Steve, what is she like during thunderstorms? And how is she around other dogs?
She is fine with thunderstorms... does your get wicky in the woo during a thunderstorms? Other dogs for the most part she is ok. She grew up in a house with other dogs and cats. Only real issue with her is oncoming cars (except for our cars)... and moving water, it hypnotizes her for some reason and I end up having to walk up to her and leash her.
Oh and she is wicked sneaky as well, I was walking her and her and my wifes mother's border collie Molly and Molly runs to the left... I go after her, Peggy fucks off down a cliff then accross a river, first I have to hike down this trail covered in high grass, brambles and poison ivy then I have to strip down to my undies, ford the river, hike down the river 1000 feet and leash her and drag her back up the cliff. I forgot to mention this was a day before my wedding and my wife almost has a kanipshin fit cuz she was afraid she was up on the highway herding cars.

That tatoo is a marking she got to show that she is microchipped and spayed.
She came to us that way from the rescue.
In case she is ever lost without her collar and goes to the pound, they can scan her and call us.

Border collies are crazy smahhht. My friends OPENED a peanut butter jar that was on the counter. Grabbed it, pulled it to the floor and got it open while they were out. Also, they instinctivly nip at ankles of people/kids/pets while herding...Not much you can do but warn ppl not to run. They will herd your other pets all day and it is very funny to watch.

Yeah, I used to tell my kids not to run around the house. My border took care of that for me.
Seems every time we would walk him with another neighborhood dog, that other dog would start humping him. He's like, "wtf is with all these fags you're walking me with?"
I agree on the pet food. Occasionally he'll get some pizza crust only or leftover meat from a steak sandwich, but for the most part its PurinaŠ all the time.

that's actually pretty cool. the only dogs I know that clean are the ones the obsessively complessively lick their paws and rip apart blankets/sheets in an attempt to clean them; and I dont know any dogs that can do such a unique trick. Ya when she was a puppy (well for lets say two, two and a half years) she was doctor destructo... she destroyed her LL Bean dog bed and a number of other things. Only thing she does now is peel tennis balls... and she actually peeled the cover off of a golf ball once.

My dog has gotten much better in this respect. One day when I left to go snowboarding, she chewed up three of my remote controls, a cordless telephone, and numerous magazines. She's ruined two dog beds and dug a hole in the backyard big enough for her to sleep in. Fortunately, she's given up on that whole destruction phase. Although, she can chew straight through a cow's thigh bone in under a day.

We're adopting another dog to keep our Yellow Lab company. Pictures will be forthcoming. He's an Airedale Terrier. I've had these dogs all my life. Getting him from a rescue. He's a big fella... 105 pounds, 30" tall at the shoulder. The rescue people are bringing him to me. It's part of their deal. They make sure you're not lying about having a fenced yard, etc, etc, etc. They're really concerned about where the dogs go that they adopt out.
Lets just say, a 101-year-old woman would be quite safe if one of these dogs is around. Past experience has been that they do not like individuals from a certain demographic...

Yea, mine don't like naggers either. For some reason, dog's DNA is programmed to be careful of the schwoogies.
Oh, and congrats on the adoption, those dogs are the best!

BJ, I hope you're prepared for how big they get. :)
I had a female that was near 50 lbs when I was 18 and lived at home. I made an enclosure for it in the backyard. I sunk a baby pool into the ground and fenced in an area around it. I had to bury the fence to keep her from digging under it. She used to sit in the water and birds would come in for a drink and well, you can figure out the rest.

Hey Budyzir, cute dog, pure rott or a mix?
Dani, he is half Shep and half Rottie, the body of a Shep and the colors of a Rottie ... about 100 lbs at the time I took the pics. He's older now, lost some weight from the photos. At 11 years old, he is in the 90 lbs. range.
I found him in the Wantagh (Long Island, NY) Bide A Wee shelter. He was abandoned at 2 years old for being too "protective" of a wife and children. Really made me wonder what went on in that house. :mad4:
For nine years he has been one of the most loyal and protective dogs I've ever known. In fact, he has made friends with my neighbors and barks when ever there is anyone on their property he doesn't know. My neighbors reward him with little treats, they like the extra security.
BTW, he is not some kind of an "outside" guard dog, he has his own bed inside to which he retires to every evening. He is a happy camper. :)

I got my Airedale, Jake, (pictured above) (http://wackbag.com/showpost.php?p=1935543&postcount=196) from a rescue group. I know nothing about where he came from outside of the fact that he was surrendered because they had a small child and apparently another (unintended) one on the way. It's good, because I want to punch the previous owners in the face. Jake always flinches and cowers like he thinks he's gonna get hit if I raise my voice the slightest to tell him "no" or anything. When I was a kid we had a Siberian Husky. The funniest thing was to watch her outside during a snow storm. She would curl up into a tight circle, tuck her nose into her tail and go to sleep. Later, when I tried to call her in, her head would pop up, she would shake the snow off and just stare at you. It took a while to get used to the fact that she was perfectly comfortable sleeping outside in 20 degree temps and covered in snow.

That thing kicks ass. My wife bought one for our mutt and I love it.
Yeah, I've had mine for a while. I let my dad borrow it and it took a while to get it back. He just bought one of his own. It was actually on QVC, they apparently have a new/improved model. I don't know what the difference is.

I thought only fat housewives had cats? I really don't see their function.
Well, having a cat does have its advantages... As long as you have a dog and get nightly reenactments of Fight Club.
That's Opie getting all vicious-dog-like with Mason The Irritated Cat.

I just got the large yellow 4" Furminator through Amazon.com for $42 shipped. I'll post some before and after pics of my Alaskan Malamute when I get it. If the photo from the Furminator website is any real indication, I"ll have enough hair to make another dog. I sure hope so because she is blowing her undercoat like mad right now.

Go to it. You'll have a pile of fur. Heck, my Airedale was clipped not even 2 weeks ago and I gave him a once-over last night with it and pulled alot of hair off.

Got a furminator last week. Gave the dog a good once over, and had enough hair to start a moustache factory.
Hopefully wife will not have to clean so much dog hair. It will be well worth the $40

He certainly is. Whenever I am home, he insists on being within 10 feet of me at all times. He's a gentle giant @ 100+ lbs, a real affectionate fella and very protective. Part of me wants to see what he would do if someone tried to harm any of us.

I've always wondered the same thing about my dog. Boomer is a gentle giant but he is very protective. He can be in a deep sleep as I'm watching TV and then suddenly leap up, with the hair on his back raised, and start barking out the window at something he heard. At these times, his bark is different, deeper and more menacing. He gets serious at those times and I'm up looking around to see whats up.
God help some ass trying to come in through the window, Boomer would cause some serious damage.

Anyone looking for a Furminator:
QVC has them for $27.12 which is less than 1/2 of what they cost in stores like Petco, etc.
It's actually their new model that's a little better allegedly than the original one. Compared to the one I have, it's just slightly wider. This is the best price I have ever seen for them.
Almost forgot...

Oolong Airedale eh?
Mine just passed (Standard breed, about 60-65lbs) last month after 13 years. Dogs are tough as nails and great pets/guarddogs. More personality then any other pet I've ever had. Cant imagine owning a different breed.

I am told mine is not one of those Oorang Airedales. He's just a big Airedale.
When I go over my parents' house, their normal sized (67 pound) Airedale seems like a dwarf to me.
My advice to you, is to contact your local Airedale rescue group and get yourself another friend. :)

nope, that's legit. Apparently she has a genetic defect (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=467985&in_page_id=1770)that caused her to be all sorts of jacked. There's a similar genetic disease in humans, but I cannot think of the name of it to save my life
