Want to get some opinions. I am wondering what you guys feel are the best three consecutive albums in a row, by a particular band. Now there are some guidelines I'd like to throw out there.

1. Must be three in a row
2. Must be in a reasonable time frame. Less than 5 years from 1-3
I hate these bands that take 3-4 years to make an album. It kills the continuity. This will eliminate alot of the newer bands. In the 80's and eaqrly 90's bands like Maiden were putting out new material every year.
3. Must be new material, no live cds and no best of shit.

I will knock out the most obvious three

Metallica
Ride the Lightning
Master of Puppets
...And Justice for All.

Slayer
Reign in Blood
South of Heaven
Seasons in the Abyss

Iron Maiden
Number of the Beast
Piece of Mind
Powerslave

When you look at all the bands that come close it is really an amazing feat.
Mercyful Fate - Melissa, Don't Break the Oath - is the most obvious.

Beatles:
Rubber soul
Revolver

Death - Human
Death - Individual Thought Patterns
Death - Symbolic
Death - The Sound of Perseverance
I know that was 4, but 4 in a row is better than 3 in a row.

Iced Earth - Something Wicked This Way Comes
Iced Earth - Horror Show
Iced Earth - The Glorious Burden

King Diamond - Abigail
King Diamond - Them
King Diamond - Conspiracy

Shit this is hard. I need more time.

Iron Maiden- Powerslave, Somewhere in Time, 7th son, although it's way to easy to shift if one album down to start with Piece of Mind.

Evergrey- Solitude* Dominance* Tragedy, In Search of Truth, Recreation Day

Celtic Frost- Morbid Tales, To Mega Therion, Into the Pandemonium

Atheist- Piece of Time, Unquestionable Presence, Elements

First three Theatre of Tragedy

Artillery- Fear of Tomorrow, Terror Squad, By Inheritance

Metal Church- S/T, The Dark, Blessing in Disguise
Good thread.

No live albums guys and a live album cannot be between them.

Here is another one

Megadeth

Killing is My Busniess
Peace Sells
So Far So Good So What

Overkill
Feel the Fire
Taking Over
Under the Influence

Judas Priest
Screaming for Vengance
Defenders of the Faith
-----Never mind they fall short

Same thing with AC/DC
Back In Black
For Those About To Rock

Many bands pull off two and seem to lose focus.

I do not see very many bands that can put out classic cds year after year. Good cds, yes. Great cds maybe, but if you look at the Metallica example or the Slayer example, you get no argument from anyone.

I am a HUGE Maiden fan. There are plenty of people who do not care for Somewhere in Time.

Some people like Metallica Black album, most people do not. I am talking hands down no questions asked classic after classic after classic.

in maidens 13 album career

9 of them IMO are classic metal albums

Here are mine:

Anthrax
Sound of White Noise
Stomp 442
Volume 8
We've Come for You All (like Exanimate says - 4 are better than 3)
Vote for Bush in 2007!!!

Two of you beat me to the punch with King Diamond
Abigail
Them
Conspiracy
I have to echo those because they're albums that changed my life!!!

I'm going to go with Priest:
Stained Class
Hell Bent for Leather
and British Steel
(can I just skip over the live one in between or does that not count?)

Stuck Mojo (I don't care - I fucking loved them - especially live)
Snappin Necks
Pigwalk
Rising

Testament:
Legacy
New Order
Practice what You Preach

You're right - 3 in a row are hard. Most bands had two, but three were tougher for me.

Judging from Charlie's last interview, he does too. I would certainly put him in my top 5 favorite metal singers. I think he makes me sing along the loudest.

I kind of like Join the Army. I love How Will I Laugh, Feel Like Shit Deja Vu(can't count this as an album), Lights, Camera, Revolution (one of the best albums ever). I even like Art of Rebellion, and Suicidal For Life. I guess I Like the thrashy, metallish stuff, rather than the punk/hardcore.

Suicidal does not work because there was like 5 years from the ST debut to Join the Army.

He is a great frontman and packs a lot of power in a small package. My favorite live shows are Armored Saint before Dave's Death.
