It is pretty furious. I picked it up yesterday, but have not been able to give it 100% attention. From what I have heard it is nasty and mean.

its alright, i liked it at first then realized that it sounds like everything else they've done and it got boring, idn if i'll buy it, but its alot better then there last couple, even though i got a soft spot for god hates us all

New Slayer in any form is great. I bought it.

I listened to it once and i would say its about as good as seasons in the abyss, great album surprisingly.

I liked it when I first listened to it, but it got boring after a couple of listens. I really only like 2 songs off of it. It just doesn't have the replayability (is that even a word?) that the early albums have. I wish they would have stopped after they put out Seasons.

Because self-proclaimed "true" metal fans hate bands like Korn who are successful through avenues like Myspace and MTV, whilst Slayer does the same thing now.

I have nothing against being on Viva La Bam or Myspace ads, but claiming another band sucks for being radio-friendly crap is wrong when bands like Slayer are now using the same marketing techniques.

Korn could have recorded every one of their albums in a storage container, and gave them away for free, and they still wouldn't be metal

"selling-out" means that a band comprimised their sound/style, for the bigger, better, deal. Slayer is rock-solid in this respect. They can do anything they want and they'll still rule

Dude Slayer is metal because they are metal and have never relented. Who gives a shit what avenue they use to market themselves. They have nothing to do with each other. Korn is candy-ass shit in the world of metal and get a ton of commercial radio airplay.

There is nothing to be compared between Korn and Slayer. You're right, Korn is radio friendly.... BUT Slayer is not. Slayer's violent imagery in most songs makes it too difficult to gain airplay on radio. Everything Korn's done since 2000 has sounded like their cover of "Word Up". When they play something like "Angel of Death" or "Jihad," then you can compare them to Slayer.

Also, MySpace advertises whatever they want. You don't get promoted as the Featured Artist of the Month because you wanted to. If that was the case, a lame emo band from Montana would be featured. MySpace picked Slayer for this.

I hate Viva La Bam, but any mainstream exposure to find more listeners is great. Gwar went on Viva La Bam and nobody is talking shit about them. Slayer are professional musicians so why wouldn't they do an appearance to show off their music? When you are a musician, you want as many people as possible to hear what you've done.

By the way, Christ Illusion is great. It's not as good as Hell Awaits, Seasons, etc. but it's a really good listen.

Album is the shit because it sound like Slayer. It never has changed. Even 'God Hates Us All' is Slayer. I respect that more than all these bands that try an experimental album and then bomb and come back to say "we needed another album for our contract" (Metallica).

Chirst Illusion is exactly what Slayer fans expected. They never let me down.
