Another hardcore album from Spooky.
First time listening to it tonight.
It's thoroughly sonic, and quite jazzy.
I can't even try to categorize it.
Jazz-funk-hiphop-trip, something.

I'd recommend it if you dig turntablism, or beats of any sort.

DJ Spooky doesn't get enough credit, he's been turning out great, experimental albums for the past ten years. Dubtometry, the 2003 follow up is a remix album that absolutely does not suck. I've got them both and dig the hell out of them.

Certainly you've heard the greatness of DJ Shadow, yes? He's coming out with a new album in September that I'm hearing good things about.

RJD2 is also quite competent.

Yeah Harv,

Shadow is excellent, rjd2... Ehh.. Never was too impressed by his production techniques, and nothing beats Mix Master Mike.
I was doing some searching around for new tunes, and came across a person, or group named Saltillo. Seemed to be farily competent. You might dig 'em too.

Agreed. And no one does slow builds like Oakie does, though his stuff isn't as dense as Spooky's. I like Crystal Method too, but neither Oakenfold nor Crystal Method are in Spooky's class.

You willing to bring older DJ's into this? Terminator X (Public Enemy) and Prince Paul (De La Soul, Handsome Boy Modeling School) still cook. In most places where he pops up, Dan the Automator does too. But now we're talking about a different animal.

Greatness is not being the best at what you do but being the only one who can do what you do. Spooky = greatness.
