What do you collect?

Thank you to "Myhairygrundle" (hahaha) for the idea for this one. I also was wondering what everyone here collects and how much is the most they have spent getting one item.

I collect vinyl albums/singles no 45s. I have about 400-500 and the most I spent on one record was $130. I also have small collection (about 20) of Franklin Mint diecast 1/24 scale car models and I spent about 200 on a model of an 1987 Peterbilt 379 semi.

I've got a mess of crap that I loosely call a "collection". . . mostly Marvel comics (especially Spiderman stuff), sci-fi toys and figures that "caught my eye", and pretty much whatever I thought was "kinda cool" when I had a couple of bucks in my pockets. I also have a 1000+ collection of CD's from over the years. . . (I'm an old fuck!) going back to the 80's and mostly 90's. I have a few thousand old comics circa 1989-92. I like Marvel comics statues (the 1/2-2 foot tall/ceramic variety). I have 6 of those (Daredevil, Doctor Doom, Capt. America, The Hulk, The Thing, and Thor (with the changable head from "beardy" to "shorn"). If I think of anything else I'll post again. . . I'm sure there's more that I just can't think-of.

Oh yeah. . . I have a set of Franklin Mint Marvel Comics knives in the showcase. . . sweet!!!:icon_wink

I started collecting comic books recently. Pretty much all DC comics since I can't really get into anything Marvel has except for anything relating to Spiderman. My dad gave me his entire comic book collection which is over 1000 easy so I'd say i'm off to a good start. Used to collect TV series on DVD too until I got all the shows I really wanted and quit...I think thats all really.

Ebay is always good, Craiglist has some good local stuff depending on where you are. Sam Ash online always has a decent selection but its a sin to pay their prices.

I collect vinyl, too, and I used to have almost 37,000 LPs, but sold all but 9,000 off to buy a house. I stil have around 1,500 12" singles, and 2,000 45's, too.

I also collected comics, and had around 15,000 books, including some key Golden Age issues and a lot of good Silver Age books, too. They all went to buy the house, too.

The beauty is, that I no longer live in this house.

I would have more, but some asshole broke into our house several years back and stole my fledgling collection along with most of the other stuff in my room.

I've been collecting rangefinder cameras, German (Leica, Zeiss) as well as Japanese from the 1950-60 era like Nikon, Canon etc. I friggin haunt pawn shops as I travel thru Philly all the time trolling for this shit. I've picked up some real gems at garage sales, flea markets and have sold some for some hefty profit over the years as well. You've got to know what your looking for and what commands value based on condition naturally. When the Yen is higher than the dollar the Japs buy shit up like crazy, been a while since that scenario though. I picked up a Leica last year at a flea market on my way home from the shore, my wife was like "you've got to be kidding, your stopping for this" I paid $50 for a Leica M3 with a Summicron lens, all mint, sold it after I cleaned it up a little on ebay for $875.

These things are all metal, all mechanical (no batteries needed) and built like swiss watches.

Well three were from pools that hosted Olympic swimming.
10 were from pools that hosted Olympic trials, 10 are from pools that hosted NCAA swimming finals: 3 division I, 6 Division III, 1 Division II.
2 from Pan Am Games, and the rest from assorted pools across the nation...most are from Jersey, Conneticut, Delaware, New York, and Pennsylvania.
