Ok where do I start? RV's are the enemy of anyone who drives professionally for a living.
They are almost always going 10 miles per hour slower than whatever the traffic flow is. They will not move out of the lane to let you merge onto a highway. They swerve all around because the driver has no idea how to drive a vehicle that big. But the main complaint I have with them is:
They take up truck parking spaces at rest areas and truckstops. You are NOT a fucking professional driver. You DO NOT have to rest a certain amount of time every day by law. You will not get kicked out of a Wal Mart parking lot like we do. You can pretty much park anywhere since everything you have is in your RV. We need those spaces to rest so we don't run over your fucking grandkids. Stop taking our spaces. (This applies even more to the fucking cunts who park U-Hauls in semi parking spaces.)
I hope you all get Alzheimers and forget to take your fucking AZT.

Problem is most of your RVers are elderly. They're the only ones who can spend that much time in an RV touring the country and visiting family/friends because they're retired. They are also usually pretty finacially stable and can afford getting one of those big 40 foot bus size RVs.
You also don't need a special license below about a 40 foot RV, so any shmuck off the street could start driving one with their regular license.
Plus, it's like driving a fucking brick through the wind. Sometimes you have to drive slower because of poor handling.

I used to worked security and they put me on an RV sales lot just west of Phoenix for an overnight shift for a few months. These fucking people would bring their RV's to get service and holy shit! You should see the damage these assholes to some of these. People tearing the roofs off like a the top to a sardine can, or huge gouges out of the side because these idiots only have a normal drivers liscence to drive what amounts to something the size of a bus. Some of these were upwards of 250-300 thousand dollars. Nice way to piss away retirement money I guess.

Lesson 1: trucks take a long time to get up to speed, so it's very important to keep momentum
Lesson 2: Almost all trucks are speed limited to anywhere between 62 and 72 mph. So say I'm limited to 68 and the truck I am trying to pass is also limited to 68. It is going to take a while to pass him, but I have to unless I want to lose all of my speed.
There are a lot of bad truckers out there these days, lots of savages behind the wheel now that can't even speak english. But to fault the drivers because of physics or the mechanical limitations on their truck is wrong.
Hope that clears some things up for you. Now if we could just stop the dumb truckers from calling the shows we'd be set.

That still doesn't explain why you have to pass another truck just because you can go a mile faster than he does, especially up a hill. Why do I then have to follow behind you for the five miles it takes for you to pass each other at 35 or 40 miles an hour. It makes no since. Loose your momentum.
Happened to me this morning. I'm going along about 70 and there are these two trucks in front of me. Right before I get to them, the second truck pulls out in front of me to pass. It was on a upgrade so I had to follow him for miles at about 30 miles an hour while they rode together side by side trying to pass. If you can't pass quickly stay behind each other.

And let's be honest about the RV complaint. At least around here, the RV season isn't all year. There are MANY MANY MANY more trucks on the road than RVs because RVs are a luxury that a few people can afford, trucks are part of our industry. Truckers are much more aggressive behind the wheel, period. That may be because they have to be somewhere and RVers are driving for leisure, but it is also the way it is. RVers usually aren't carrying as much weight too.

RV people can be very annoying. They scare me on a daily basis, mostly just from the massive potential for destruction they have in accidents. I do agree though with Moe, there aren't too many of them on the roads and not all the time. "Professional" drivers always seem to have a stick up their asses. Sometimes they need to take Opie's advice and eat their own. I don't think they'll find too much sympathy for RVs taking up a few parking spaces in rest areas. I also think public opinion is far worse for truckers. I fully expect to see some posts like, "if it wasn't for us 'out here' . . . . ." and "everything you get comes from the truck . . . . " We understand you work hard to make your living and bring products to the people. If you aren't content with certain aspects of your job, then find something else to do.

It would be great if there was a Truck Only lane, like the HOV lanes in some States.
I always get the fuck out of the truckers way, because I understand how long it takes for them to stop when carrying that much weight.
It would also be great if the assholes riding in the left lane understood what passing only lanes are for.

Still doesn't give four wheelers an excuse to hang out in our blind spots or give RV's an excuse to steal out rest area spots. I can honestly say at least bikers understand the rules of the road and I have never had a problem with a bike on the road. They understand what happens when you fuck up a lot better than cars and RV's.
The smart thing to do is to let the left lane clear before jumping over to pass. Unfortunately a lot of trucks these days are being driven by uncut savages who could give a shit about traffic flow. The drivers who know what they are doing wouldn't jump out in front of a line of cars to pass, I know I wouldn't. Having a line of cars behind me for 10 miles is as bad for me as it is for them.
But if I have the choice of losing all momentum and having to take a hill at 20 mph instread of 50 mph, I have to get over to pass that guy who is going 1 mph slower than me. It's not about being somewhere at a certain time, its about 20 mph being a dangerous speed to drive on a 70mph road.
Someone who drives 120,000 miles per year is almost always going to be a better driver than someone who drives 15,000. The only exception is the growing number of professional drivers who just don't give a fuck. And they're even more dangerous to me than they are to you. Ever see a 2 truck accident?
Maybe if they stopped teaching how to "love one another" liberal claptrap in schools and started showing gory traffic safety films; and at the same time started requiring truck drivers to speak english and pass real tests to get a license, these traffic problems would be fixed.

truckers never obey the truck lane rule even in construction zones. i have seen a sign that says all trucks right lane and they are all in the left lane. the fuckers think they own the road and they communicate with each other when there is a cop around so they never catch them. i think police should be able to drive unmarked cars to catch the fuckos on the road...and not just crown vics, but random unmarked cars so the truckers can't spot em.

Yea i totally agree, the police should do that to catch cars too. i realize there are good truckers out there but a LOT of them are dicks and do think they own the road. and cars don't own the road but when you are driving a vehicle that could crush and kll me instantly you should drive with more respect.

Most trucks owned by fleets are governed that they can't go over a certain speed. My truck cannot go faster than 68 mph. Sucks because everywhere I drive has a 70mph speed limit. Some companies (ABF and Canadian companies in particular) go as low as 62. They do this to save fuel. 0.1 mpg savings would be thousands of dollars a year per truck.

Im a truck driver and I would have to disagree with the biker issue. Bikers are broken into 2 classes. Full dressers and Tuff guys. Full dressers use blinkers, merge into lanes when real gap is present (not screaming past you at 120 after nearly putting the ferring under my bumper) and brake appropriatly (Not waitng until they are 20 feet from the stopped car and nearly doing a nose wheelie at every intersection). Simple as that.
Cant say that there arent asshole drivers out there that doesnt think twice about leaving an alligator skin in the left lane on the backside of a hill but at least 70% are pros. Unlike every other personal driver who can get thier licence by passing an eye test and 1 lap around the parking lot. figure the formula;
Personal Drivers - any1 who is 16+ (this included 90 yr old ladies out on a sunday drive monday morning megring onto the highway with the wrong blinker on doing 35 mph with her foot half on the gas and half on the brake), US citizen? Nah we accept illigals too,
Trucker - Needs to pass an indepth skills test before being allowed to take the road test ( in MA at least), pass a book test 4 times harder and longer (no homo) and be constantly under the scutinized eye of cops, fire dept (I have HAZMAT) and the wanna be heroes, the DOT cops.
Kinda makes sense when ya think about it.
