Their payroll is the nearly the same as last year, in fact it went down. (remember piazza and others came off the books)

06 New York Mets $ 101,084,963
05 New York Mets $ 101,305,821
04 New York Mets $ 96,660,970

GOD DAMN YOU FUCKING ARROGANT CONSCENDING YANKEE FANS.

In fact, the Yankees are still $93 million higher than the Mets...and added C Wilson and Abreu and Lidle..so basically the Yankees payroll is 2x the mets...

Check it out...opening day payrolls below....who's buying who's division you piece of shit?? The Yankees were double the mets last year

06 New York Yankees $ 194,663,079
05 New York Yankees $ 208,306,817
04 New York Yankees $ 184,193,950

06 Boston Red Sox $ 120,099,824
05 Boston Red Sox $ 123,505,125
04 Boston Red Sox $ 127,298,500

You should never be a loud to post about sports again for using the word Eww. Thats gay. The Mets used money to buy players and take salary dumps from other teams. 2 guys are from their farm system the rest are just bought players. Mets Yankees Bo Sox can make mistakes by signing players that dont make it and sign someone else in their place. Mets fans are the worst sports fns ever. Nothing like a fair weather fan coming from Shea.

I am annoyed b/c the Cubs make more money then all 3 combined and never spend Jack.

You shouldnt be allowed to post about sports until you actually know what you're saying.

Teams that spend money win, thats the nature of the buisiness. No good player is gonna go to a team that wont pay them. Are you sure the Cubs REALLY earn more money as an organization than the Yankees, because I really doubt that, but I'm not about to go look up the teams yearly revenue.

Just because Steinbrenner lets Cashman spend his money, and Minaya got Wilpon to finally open his checkbook doesnt mean you buy all your players. There's very few succesful teams that are made up of most their own farm guys. Reyes and Wright for the Mets, and Wang and Cabrera for the Yankees, although they are the only two homegrown guys, help each of their teams SO much. The Mets would be nothing without those two kids, and the Yankees would be struggling just as bad.

And before you start pissing about the Yanks dont have any farm guys on the team, remember these guys named Derek Jeter, Bernie Williams, Mariano Rivera and Jorge Posada. They have all never played for any other organization and two of them are first ballot hall of famers.

The entire "you buy championships" argument is A) The oldest, most played out and annoying argument ever and B) just something people who dont really know what they're talking about spew.

Oh yeah, Eww.

The Tribune company owns the Cubs which also owns WGN. The Cubs get revenue from Not only Cubs TV but White Sox TV and Rockies TV as well (one other team in the west not sure which one). They do not count this for Cubs revenue but it is revuene earned by the The Tribune company which owns the Cubs. They draw over 3 million fans a year and some tickets are sold by A Cubs ticket scalper for 4 X's the price. So accurate numbers are not available

Go look at the top payrolls in baseball and look at the bottom payrolls in baseball and tell me the records and where each one stands.
I have all the respect in the world for the yankee 90's teams they built there team from the ground up made a couple of trades and it put them over the top. That is a team. I just cant have respect for a team that goes out gets a player he bombs (Kyle Farnsworth, Carl Pavano and Jaret Wright just to name a few) and just go out and get someone else to take his place for even more money until you can find the right fit. It becomes boring. I would love the Cubs to spend 150 million a year but b/c the dang goat every player we get will blow out his arm or become a paralized so I am forced to watch and suffer every year but I stick with the team and watch them fall apart year after year. We had Tom Seaver (Mark Prior) and Colon Ryan (Kerry Wood) and the future looked bright now we have Brian Taylor and Bill Pulispher.

First you say
"Teams that spend money win, thats the nature of the buisiness."
Then you say:
"The entire "you buy championships" argument is A) The oldest, most played out and annoying argument ever and B) just something people who dont really know what they're talking about spew."

Which is it? Spend money and win or that is a lame arguement.

Like someone else said, spending money doesnt guarantee victory. Case in point, The Chicago Cubs have the third highest payroll in the NL (only $6 million less than the Mets) yet they're 19 games under .500 and 13.5 games back. They spend money, how come they arent "buying championships". The Mets have had a high payroll for years, but now they just make good moves and they're winning. To say that means they bought the division is retarded.

The argument is played out because every cumsock who likes a bad team spews the same regurgitated sports radio shit about payroll out. Which is why you do it, you have no real point, so you throw out the hack one.

Teams that spend money will attract the better free agent players, which SHOULD in turn, lead to winning. It helps, but you dont always win. The 2002 Angels had a payroll, of 61.7 million, they beat the Yankees and their 125.9 million dollar payroll in the first round. Obviously, there's no absolutes in sports, so when people cry about payroll, its fucking retarded. The point of saying teams that spend money win, was in emphasize that its a fucking BUSINESS, the players are gonna tend to go where they are gonna get paid and also have a chance to win. You think Delgado, Beltran and Pedro would have signed with the Mets if they didnt think they had a chance to win soon? I'm done arguing with you, because you obviously know less than dick about sports. Go fishing and fuck what you catch.

Don't attack other members it could get you band. Your the only tool here cause you ride both sides of the fence with your argument. Closet homo.

Well, if that's not the most contradicting statement I've read in a long time I dont know what is. And it's spelled, "banned" not "band" if bashing other members got me a "band" that would be cool, as long as I could play drums. Although, the "closet homo" line is awesomely witty. Too bad I'm not a in third grade anymore, or that might have hurt my feelings. Just dont call me a doo-doo head.

People act like spending money is a free-ride to a championship, its not.

Very true point. In 2003 the Florida Marlins beat the Yankees in the World Series and in 2002 the Angels beat the Yankees in the playoffs, both with a quarter of the the Yankees overall salary.

Sometimes it's not all about how much you spend but what you spend it on that counts.

To all the Met fans out there(me included), forget Mo Vaughn. That was the Steve Philips era. We are in a new era now...a better one....

To Philips credit....maybe not getting A-Rod wasn't such a bad thing after all?? I'll take Wright anyday!

Listen you cock face like i said dick wad Look at the payrolls oh yea you wont because that will show how Money buys you a better team and NO i am not saying the person who spend the most wins it all but you have a chance year in and year out. Look at the payrolls and tell me who are division leaders. So when you look at that stupid ass then come back. Cubs spend money and all players go down with injuries they didnt do what the yankees did and go out and pick up a guy for 15 million because my guy who makes 13 million and 18 million got hurt for 2 months. LOOK AT PAYROLLS JACKOFF AND TELL ME WHAT THE RECORDS ARE! Dont pick one team out cause i can say look at Florida they have a low payroll and almost .500 look or look at the cubs they have high payroll they suck. Look year in and year out who is there at the top. Oh yea you wont because your to busy with your uncles cock in your mouth as he is telling you about the good old days of the yankees. I am so sick of this i am done with you and your faggot ass.
Hey jerkoff Delgado was traded to the Mets.
Beltran would have gone to Cuba if they gave him 19 million. He didnt go to the mets cause they are winners.
Your so gay about "thats a hack argument"- angry typing guy. You know it is true that is why you are so angry about it. There is nothing hack about saying the more you spend the better chance you have to win. Why dont the old expos win anything? Well maybe because they couldnt afford to keep the talent they had.

Also, for my two cents. The Mets team has vastly improved in the past two years. Since Willie Randolph started as coach!! Do you think the Mets would be as good if they had another coach? I doubt it.
