I remember back during the heights of metal, Death was kind of looked down up, and the metal press even went as far as to say it ran its course during the mid 90's.
Now metal appears to be in a renaissance with many returning to their roots and some of the old timers being the flag-bearers of good quality metal. Now what I'm seeing to a large extent is progressive's lineage going into death metal and both combined, create music equally aggressive as it is cutting edge on musicianship. I see lots of you guys talking about these new bands and I'm lost, simply because I'm highly selective when it comes to death, in fact only recently accepting it.
What are you guys seeing in metal as a whole, from cutting edge death acts, to a renaissance of great music? Where do you think we're going?
