The 2 inch long pistol fires a small pellet. It's a novelty weapon that is expensive to produce and almost entirely non-lethal. Yet a CBS reporter and an ATF agent says there's no legitimate reason to own such a weapon and speculate that it helps terrorists.
Sorry, Ant. But CBS is trying their best to outdo Fox with this stupidity.

He said the gun is a miniature, detailed copy of the Colt Python revolver. He sells it for roughly $5,000 to gun collectors (though he added that most of his guns are encrusted with diamonds and gold, so they can cost $30,000).
He said he has sold 50 miniguns, all to only one area of the world. “Contacts in the Middle East asked me to make a miniature of Colt Python," said Erard.
I suppose if all 50 of these li'l guns were smuggled onto the same airplane, they could be used to put out the eyes of all the flight attendants, open the bags of peanuts and put holes in the leather upholstery.
At $5,000-$30,000 a pop, it seems like a rather expensive way to create such minimal "terror".

Miniature or full-size, if it's made of metal, it'll set off the alarms if they try to get it on a plane. Unless it's like John Malkovich's gun in In the Line of Fire, I don't see it being a problem.

You give the screening equipment (and the screeners) too much credit, sir. My WRISTWATCH has more metal in it than that li'l pistol does and I don't have to take it off going through security.

This looks like something Bugs would point at Yosemite Sam, he would then laugh, and then get blown to smithereens by the pea shooter of a weapon.
How silly...

Gun powder or not, It's all about muzzle velocity, weight, and energy delivered. You really couldn't do much damage with one of these. It's a 2 grain projectile travelling at 400 FPS. It delivers less than 1 foot pound of energy. It'd have a hard time going through your jeans or making a hole in a tin can.
For Comparison, a CCI .22 short, witch is about the smallest conventional round you can get, is a 29 grain projectile travelling at 1080 FPS delivering 75 foot pounds of energy. That's almost 100 Times as much.
Here's a .22 Derringer. Pretty small and much more usefull.

A friend of mine used to have a pen that took a single .22 round, and it was a load of shit. He was lucky it did not blow up in his face.

FUCK! We must ban all guns now since they have come out with a $5,000 collectors item that was probably sold to rich fucks in Dubai who waste countless millions of stupid trinkets.
I swear, people are retarded. There are cellphone guns out there that fire 22/25 caliber rounds that actually can kill you. When I was in law enforcement I had seen a bit about cell phone guns that look like the old Nokia phones circa 2000 and the top row of keys would fire individual bullets from the antenna region of the phone.
Who gives a fuck about a key chain gun that fires projectiles slightly faster than a pellet pistol. All you do it move and then beat the fuck out of the person that has the gun. No big deal. Well, I'd simply pull out the compact .45ACP that I carry and we could compare pistols while I pointed it at their skull. I bet ya mine would win.
I don't think ANY gun should be illegal in the USA. If you have the money and you want to buy it then have fun. Automatic firearms? Go for it, buy a pair of MAC10s if you want homie. All the politicians do are scare people so they can get elected. Thats what they do about guns like the .50 BMG rifles in states like California, Oregon and also in Denver, CO. They try to ban guns that aren't even used in crimes and cost too much for most people to own.
A bolt-action .50BMG is going to cost $2,000+ for cheaper brands. If you want a Barret semi-auto BMG then it will cost you $8,000. How many people do you know are going to go drop 8k on a rifle so they can shoot at someone? NONE! The guns have never been used in a crime but dumb fucks try and do ban them.
I really hate the news and I work for those faggots.
