The boo-ing was out of hand last night. That really was a sore spot on a great show. Here's my thoughts on why it happened:

First, Shubert's set started out ok but he was all over the airplane jokes and was hacky. It was the same material he's been doing for 10 years and he got ripped for it. The worse part is he grew up a block from me in Northeast Philly and I know he had alot of family and friends there, I'm sure it was a big night for him. I really felt for the guy.

People got a little restless during Patrice's set but he was rambling and then came back strong at the end.

To the main point, they went to a 20-30 minute intermission after Sagat's set. The place was on a high after he was done, he absolutely killed up there. The break totally killed any momentum and energy that the show had. I think O&A showing all the vids kind of got the crowd into attack mode.

Dom Irrera had great material and started out on fire, the people I was around laughed the harder at a few of his jokes than anything else in the show. He kept going to the well on some jokes touching on race and immediately people started getting restless and boo-ing. I was shocked since he is a Philly guy and one of the most respected comics of all time.

O&A sensed what was happening and tried to stir the crowd up but they you could tell it was very awkward for them.

Bill Burr had little chance out there with the state the crowd was in, and he did some pretty bad material to start his act (Why are there no people with the last name Hitler? Cell phones make my head hurt) and was immediately bood to shit, he didn't have a chance to salvage the act and knew it. I respect him for not walking off and he knew he couldn't go on so he went on one of the most brutal attacks I have ever heard...and he won over the crowd. Absolutely fucking brutalized the place and I loved it.

I was worried for Lil Jimmy but he came out and did a great set with no boo-ing. You could tell he was a little worried about how the crowd was coming in with 2 straight guys getting killed up there. He was clearly the most polished of the comics and went through a great set.

I think the length of the show, the intermission and the fact that it was a Saturday and most of the crowd was drinking all day and absolutely bombed is what caused it. The guys were trying to setup jokes but the crowd's drunken, no attention span mush brains couldn't follow anyone who even attempted to setup a punchline. It was brutal but there was much more to it than people just being assholes or the comics sucking.

yeah, Shubert's set sucked so he did deserve to be booed, but you can't help but feel bad for a guy bombing in front of 10,000 people. Irrera spent too much time on the Irish stuff. he spent a good portion of his set doing the Irish material, then once you thought he was gonna move on, he came back to it. that may have been due to the boos he was already getting and got rattled by them, but then the boos really started raining down on him when he went back to the Irish stuff a second time. he tried winning the crowd back by going with the "Go Eagles!" stuff, but the crowd was too far against him at that point.

the worst thing to do when you're a comedian is to not fight back when you're being booed or heckled. if you don't fight back, the crowd will just walk all over you no matter how funny you are.

If you're the guy I'm thinking of, I think I was behind you (not the yelling guy) - over near the right rear side of section 104... I saw you and that guy in front of you yelling at the douchefuck with the phone... I almost punched him in the back of the head, fucking ignorant asshole... between the texting and the talking to his friend all night, I wanted to smash his teeth in by the end of the night.

I didn't boo Schubert... I felt bad for the guy. He should have dealt with the crowd's bullshit. I was shocked that people boo'd Dom - I was humiliated by that... Dom is a fucking legend - but I thought he was good for the most part. I boo'd Bill Burr, but only once he started smashing us. I thought Bill was great, but he did start out with some horrific material.

I think part of the blame lies on Voss and the other comics for continually bashing Schubert... I think that kinda gave the crowd a feeling of power. Then again, at the New Years Eve show I went to, the crowd boo'd Colin off the stage and Voss bashed him, and nothing came of it. I definitely think that there were people there who didn't know what to expect / came expecting the wrong thing...

But one thing we do NOT do in Philly is boo people before giving them a chance, and boo people who don't deserve it. There was a lot of stupid bullshit going on in the back (at least behind Section 104)... I've also read some other posts that indicated people were booing chicks who walked by and didn't flash their tits... which may very well have triggered some unfair booing of the comics by other people who otherwise wouldn't have boo'd.

The majority of people in the arena were well-behaved. Those fucking jerkoffs in the back just kept it going... when the comedian on stage lets shit like that continue, eventually the whole crowd will turn, especially if he hits a few bad bits.

Billy gave the douchedrinkers in the crowd the smashing that they needed. I kept waiting for Patrice or Dom to lash out at the crowd and give them a good whupping, but it never came. That was a bad decision on their part and it cost both of them. Vos could have smashed the crowd, too, but he didn't.

The intermission after Saget killed the momentum from his set, which hurt the show...

I was embarrassed last night by the way the crowd behaved. I know O&A went back to the lawn to "party" because they were hoping to distract the fucks out there and get them to behave. It worked, to a point, but it was too little, too late.

Yeah it was. I'm a Philly fan of sports, and even the town to a point. Every time I hang out in Philly (I live an hour north), I have a great time. Get treated well down there. That is a good point. You appreciate things when you actually have to pay more than 10 bucks for them. Any unemployed asshole can get 10 bucks from somewhere, even the male population of Philly.

Make sure you have to drop like 20-30 bucks on a ticket and you're making sure only people who WANT to be there are there and only people who know what it is. It does indeed seem like a lump of human garbage who either got free tickets or were just there for a cheap party got it.

I'm a long time O&A fan, originally from North Jersey now working in Philly, and I gotta say... last night was the worst display I've ever seen from these union-labored mouth-breathers. I sat on the left side of the lawn with 7 other friends who all loved the show (we all bought our lawn seats early, at $25 a clip - suckers that we are). There were 30-40 doucherags in front of us who booed anything they could... they even booed an empty cup, because, well, it didn't have any beer left in it. Makes sense.

They even started 2 fights. One was with a guy who told them to f off when they asked his girl to WOW, and one was within their own crew. I mean, who starts a fight at a comedy show? There's a time and a place for a haymaker, don't get me wrong, but it's not in the middle of a Bob Saget set.

I only joined this board today in an effort to vent my frustration with these morons. And please don't discount the entire lawn section - 85% of us went to have a good time and sit in dirt.
