Since 8:00 this evening, helicopters have been hovering over the North Shore of Staten Island (near the Goethals Bridge).
They are VERY loud and don't seem to be moving.

Does anyone know what may be going on. I've checked the police scanner but no info is being given over the air.

Any cops around that can look into this?

The real story is a Cadillac Escalade was speeding down the highway, swerved off the road and slammed down to the road beneath the bridge. The truck was a twisted wreck and barely reconizable as a SUV much less an Escalade. Driver died. No one was hurt.

Well, there were actually separate accidents that caused all the activity a few days ago:

It was a deadly night on Staten Island last night, when two accidents, two hours apart killed two borough men.
A 40-year-old Prince's Bay resident crashed his sport utility vehicle on the Staten Island Expressway, causing his vehicle to dangle from the guard rail at the South Avenue overpass. He was pronounced dead at St. Vincent's Hospital, West Brighton.
About two hours later, a 24-year-old Stapleton woman driving westbound on Forest Avenue, plowed into a 41-year-old New Brighton man crossing the roadway.
The woman, who was charged with DWI and vehicular manslaughter, was allegedly driving nude and drunk.

I knew the guy who got killed on Forest ave, former ADA and a lawyer. Guy got hit so hard he went flying and hit the telephone wires above the street. Then the naked cunt sideswiped a car and flew over an 8 foot fence. She was high on Ecstasy, Purple Haze, and when the pulled her out she was singing "Money Power Respect" by Lil' Kim.

I bet the guy was in the middle of crossing and thought "holy shit, is she naked?" and stopped in the middle of the street to confirm what he saw. His last thought before the moment of impact was "Holy shit, she is!"

NEW YORK A speeding, out-of-control car driven by a naked woman fatally struck a pedestrian and collided with another vehicle before sailing over a fence and landing in a shopping center parking lot, authorities said.
The driver, Taliyah Taylor, 24, was pulled out of the car by police following the accident around 11 p.m. Wednesday, said William Smith Jr., a spokesman for the Staten Island district attorney's office.
Taylor, who apparently was high on ecstasy and marijuana when she crashed, faced manslaughter charges and was being held without bail, police said. A spokesman from the district attorney's office said the charges could be upgraded after an investigation.
Taylor, while being led out of a building by police on Thursday, denied any wrongdoing.
"I didn't do nothing," she said.
Taylor's car struck Larry Simon as he was crossing the street to meet his brothers at a bar in the city's Staten Island borough, Smith said.
The car kept going and collided with another car, causing minor injuries to its occupants, police said. The collision launched Taylor's car over a 6-foot (nearly 2-meter) fence and into the shopping center's parking lot.
Simon, 41, was hurled into the air, and his legs were severed from the impact with the car, Smith said. Simon, who worked as an assistant district attorney in the borough from 1997 to 2000, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Taylor was wearing a seat belt and was not hurt. She is due back in court Tuesday.
