Not only that, but what about the poor JV and Elvis fan? It seems like the bboys are intentioanlly going long on CBS. Don't they realize that JV and Elvis then have to play about 15 minutes of commercials to start their show? How fair is that to the loyal JV and Elvis listener, who expects their show to start at 9? Not fair at all, I say. It is almost like the boys are calling JV and Elvis faggots, and making it clear to them who is the boss. Do the boys really think they can end their show whenever they want, and JV and Elvis can't do anything about it? That must really make poor JV and Elvis feel like douches. The dream talk at the beginning of the show really got the phones ringing and people had some funny stories of pissed off wives and girlfriends dreaming about their guys cheating. "The Bridge" director was a good guest and over at XM the "who is into Krista" shit was fucking funny as hell.

Back to back killer shows, without question.
Thursday was a non-stop onslaught.
Friday, though not as brutally funny,
took the show in a couple of great directions,
which were just as entertaining, since it is
not always just about the funny.

The Bridge stuff alone could have made for a half a great show.
The Krista stuff was a tremendous finisher.
I'm not the biggest Ross fan, though Kelly had a great day.
Not being beaten up by Jimmy all morning let him flex
a little more and it worked well for him.

No complaints here.
After that monster Thursday, they could have phoned it in on Friday.

As far as Thursdays show. I loved it. I have only heard the CBS portion of Fridays show, but have the XM side on my Inno, so I will listen to it today.

Not trying to be ass-kissing. Just trying to be supportive of a show that always makes me laugh. Some of the posters here do not know how hard it is to be consistently funny for 5 hours a day. Just because a quip you spent 20 minutes thinking up and rewriting happened to get some clappy hands does not mean you could do anything close to what the bbboys do.

Sometimes they have a down show. Sometimes there is filler. Sometimes they do things I don't like. However, I cannot remember the last time I heard a show where I did not laugh plenty of times. Even when Twitchels is on.

Allow me to elaborate with my point of view and maybe you can kinda see what I'm talking about...

I listen in 2 waves: first live in the morning from about 9:30AM to 10:30AM. Pretty groggy at this time, and I recall Jeffrey Ross killing with some real cringe humor fat jokes, and not laughing as much as "holy shit did he say that? FUCK..." and laughing on the inside. My thinking is "god damn he's funny I hope he's on more", but he didn't feel very backed up in terms of comedic support because Bob Kelly kept bombing, and you & Ope were trying not to kill her. At this point I had to start working...

Then I listen to the replay and don't recall any dream talk at the beginning, just some Mets discussion, which went directly into the Bridge discussion. I purposely didn't listen to the Bridge discussion for spoiler reasons. I then returned to the show around the XM walkover, nothing interesting there.

Now I listened closely to the reply at this point, because I wanted to get a better feel for Jeffrey Ross who is a great comedian and will hopefully be back often.

I feel the show had amazing potential for FUNNY but let me down for the following reasons:

During the Fat Chick Portion: Robert Kelly repeatedly bombing with bad jokes and bad timing. Yes, Jeffrey Ross threw out some great lines during this section, BUT the fact that Robert Kelly dominated this portion (and his suicide story wasn't that good) really killed it for me.

ROBERT KELLY ASIDE: I am not a Robert Kelly hater. Unlike others who post here, I am willing to give every comedian a clean slate for every show. For me, Robert Kelly works best when he's paired with Jimmy Norton. Jimmy will absolutely SMASH him into pieces and Robert just goes with it. My favorite Robert Kelly show is when Pat From Moonachie smears his dirty anus all over Robert's phone and you photographic. My favorite moment from this show is when Robert is puking in the bathroom and lil Jimmy walks into the bathroom and starts pissing onto the floor of the stall where Robert is puking. Fuck that was incredible stuff. SO my point is, Robert Kelly can be funny, but when he's the main 3rd mic, he doesn't fit into the show as well because Lil Jimmy Norton isn't there to smash him and keep him in check. Robert Kelly is a great victim, but as an aggressor he comes off as an ass. His call in from Buffalo with Ope fucking with him WAS GREAT.

Back to the show...

FAT CHICK DATING GAME: This had *HUGE* potential, but again, Robert Kelly just stepped all over EVERYONE, and especially Roland. Instead of letting Roland die, as Opie pointed out, he just jumps in and tries to smash Roland, thus letting Roland off the hook.

Even the best moment here is Roland saying "HELL NO". You hear 2 people beating him up on it, then finally Robert Kelly jumps in and says the exact same thing AGAIN, just less funnier. And Robert Kelly trying to kill the Nosferatu bit by saying there are no bald vampires?! What kind of stupid fucking comment is this?! Nosferatu, the movie starring Max Schrek is a BALD FUCKING VAMPIRE who looks like a Jew. Holy fuck this was annoying. And lastly, why is it that Otter & George is the only one who has called Roland out for his homo-ness? Saying he looks like a gay Napolean (great line). During this dating game, a barrage of Roland homo jokes could have happened, just seemed like a great missed opportunity.

So it was Robert Kelly who just ruined this show for me. Not because he's not funny, he just wasn't funny on that particular show with that particular dynamic. To me the show is all about dynamics. Having him on the show as just the guest comedian with Jimmy on 3rd mic is going to be good stuff. Having him on the show on 3rd mic with a guest comedian who doesn't smash him just didn't work for me. Like I said, he works much better as the victim, but when unchecked, he comes off as a bit of a dick and not very funny.

So no disrespect to your opinion, and I'm not trying to smash the show, and I wasn't even trying to trollingly smash the show with that initial comment. And fuck, if you are reading this, can you please get Louis CK and Otter & George on more, please? Holy fuck those 2 are easily the funniest two comedians you have on. And getting Jeffrey Ross more often would be great, especially if Lil Jimmy Norton is around. Would love to hear more of him.

As for your performance, I think you did a good job, but you were in a tough spot with Krista. She seemed like a really good egg, and you guys had to play the good cop role (I think Ope was actually doing it for real, as Gregg Hughes and not the actor Opie).

The dream stuff was great. If you missed that, you missed a lot of show.

Sure Jeffrey Ross seemed a little tired, and I wish he'd let the fat stuff go after a while. Even though he still got a lot of good lines in, I was sort of wishing he'd drop it at some point - I think he was just too tired to focus on anything else. And sure, Bob Kelly said some lines that sucked, and did a really bad George Takei impression, but so what?

Jeffrey Ross is a really funny comedian, and Bob Kelly is funny - even when he's not puking (sometimes, anyway - I think he has a really funny voice), although I think he's at his best when Li'l Jimmy's there.

I thought it was a really good show. You can't pick apart every nuance of it - you pick off all the funny.

He probably is a great comedian. Never seen him live. That doesn't translate to being great on the show. Vos is a fucking amazing comedian but a lot of times it doesn't translate as well on ONA.

All of what I said was just my opinion, and I am definitely not a bobby kelly hater. I like his victim stuff, not because of the mere fact that he's getting shit on, but rather because of how he rolls with it and plays off of it. I appreciate his talent and style in that role more than the bully/dick stuff.

His suicide story was ok, it reminded me of a good Jimmy story too much though, and Jimmy does a much better job of throwing himself under the bus than Bobby did. Just didn't seem that funny by the end.

This forum is full of Bobby Kelly haters. I'm not one of them. I think he's awesome with the right studio dynamic. That dynamic wasn't there on Friday. This is just my opinion and I can see how others might have enjoyed it more. I was also in a shitty mood Friday, and that might have clouded my perception a bit as well.

do you think mr ross is going to be back at all? I know him and Howie have had a relationship in the past and in my opinion he was good, but seemed a little uncomfortable. Probably his first time on the show so it took him a while to get adjusted. I think Jeff is ridiculous and would love to see him come back in studio.

I really don't mind the soup talk on the show. I think it is funny hearing Anthony get passionate about his soup. Either irritated that the one he wants isn't there, or making sure that he gets the one he wants before anyone else.

Have to shake my heads at those who complain when the boys decide to leave after 11, which is 8 my time since I'm in California. I'm glad that they have been on this long and haven't fucked it up and been shitcanned from xm. Whenever Otto and George are on it cracks me up, hell Otto's laugh alone is comical. I don't get to hear much of ron and fez and the boys on mondays, wednesdays and fridays but thats what the weekends are for.
