(KDKA) NEW BRIGHTON Officials are re-evaluating their plan to let the remaining cars burn out after a train derailed and burst into flames over a railroad bridge in Beaver County late Friday night.

The initial plan was to let the cars burn out, but now there are renewed concerns that those cars could explode.

Fire crews are watching the cars burn now as officials formulate a new strategy. Firefighters have moved further away from the still-burning fire as a precaution.

Officials are considering spraying chemicals on the fire, but no decision has been made as of yet.

The derailment left burning rail cars dangling over a river, authorities said.

Route 65 re-opened just before 6 a.m. this morning after being shut down overnight.

The eastbound, approximately 80-car Norfolk Southern Railroad train was carrying ethanol when it derailed above the Beaver River at about 10:50 p.m., according to Norfolk Southern spokesman Rudy Husband.

No injuries have been reported.

The American Red Cross, Hazmat and the DEP remain on the scene.

Approximately 600 people were evacuated from the area. The evacuation originally covered six blocks, but has since been expanded to 12 blocks.

People who are evacuated from New Brighton are being sent to the United Methodist Church at Sixth Avenue and 11th Street, while those on the Beaver Falls side are being sent to the Patterson Township Fire Department.

Emergency officials say the fumes aren't dangerous and that the area is under evacuation for fears of more explosions.

Yeah, I think it would be a good idea to put that fire out. Stupid people.
