I'll sum it up in 2 words .... IT STINKS.
I'm glad they're advertising again but I was sitting with my sister-in-law and one of her friends as it came on. It took me 10 seconds into the commercial to realize what they were advertising and I have 2000 posts on an Opie and Anthony msg board. Those 2 had no clue after it was done and I'm trying to explain. the XM flies up but I dont think it says "Satellite Radio" or anything else. It looks like something a college kid graphic designer threw together.
I dont know what the fuck XM basis decisions on, love O&A, Ron and Fez and Fungus 53 but can they actually try to sell their product without being obscure?

Is this the one that ends with the Snoop Doggy Dogg song?

XM needs to wake up and realize that no one gives a shit about music on the radio anymore with the advent of IPOD. It's all about unique & exclusive content like ONA and that fruity Oprah channel. That should be the basis of their marketing campaign.

The ADs annoyed me the first time but i don't mind them now...they definately stick out and that's all they need..

...and yeah if they could pull more Audible deals or even pay-for Podcasts for their exclusive stuff (R&F, Oprah, etc) I think they could definately find a new market...

the fact that Opie and Anthony aren't on the new commercials just goes to show you that even over 2 years later they're still failing

Did you also happen to notice the music bed for the commercial was from "The Natural"? Although the graphics work borders on cheesy, it works because it is a virtual replay of Robert Redford's homer at the end of the movie, complete with exploding lights.

The only new one I've seen is the MLB one with the theme from the Natural in the background, and think it is pretty effective. Much better than the drivel they had been putting out.

So why would they advertise O&A and Oprah? They are not exclusive to XM.

I think it's a pretty neat baseball commercial, but I don't think it does a very good job of selling XM to the hardcore baseball fans.

Actually they both are exclusive.. the last 2 hours, and Oprah's show is only heard on XM.. that's exclusive and a selling point..

I disagree, but I think XM has done a shitty job selling it.. I don't own an IPOD or MP3 player, because I don't want to sit there trying to obtain and load my own music. As well as deciding what to listen too.. I like XM as an alternative because I pick a genre and everything is taken care of..

Fuck the IPOD, that's what I say..

Oprah better start wearing XM T-shirts on her show for that paycheck. As far as I can tell she personally does about 2 hours a month new content for XM.

I've seen better attention spans from a class full of ADHD retards than what I see from a lot of people in this thread and the hudreds of others just like it that continue to bitch about O&A's lack of advertising attention from XM.

As long as I have had XM (more than 18 months now), advertising focus has been on the platform as a whole and not any one property. I assume that XM believes it is better to attract an audience for the diverse offerings that it has available, not for one talent or property. One case in point is the TV ad from several months ago with Snoop Dog looking for his bling while walking through the DC studios.

The latest campaign does the same thing but a little differently. Each of the commercials may focus on a specific property or talent but we are getting them all instead of a specific one.

And for those of you who want to jump up and down and scream from the tops of your lungs that the current ads do not include O&A, think back to E-Lo's last appearance on the show when he announce the name change of the channel. He confirmed that a new ad featuring ONLY the boys would be airing some time in November.

When it's all said and done, remember one thing. People smarter than you (and me) with much more experience in advertising, market research and demographics are promoting the product the best way possible. And let us not forget they have to answer to a higher power --- the shareholders.....

I like the one with the Natural Theme and the baseball. The one with the music just shows alot of variety on XM.

Its a start certainly from what they used to be doing, because honestly I couldn't name you one "old" XM commercial from before.

I don't think i've ever seen one before if they had one.
