Someone should just quickly go over the voting time frame and what you need to do on the phones and internet.

Keep everyone old and new up to speed. To be honest I'm not 100% on what we have to do every step of the way. I just saw this thread again last week and started calling like a maniac.

Lines open at the beginning of each show for viewers to vote for their favorite couples and stay open for 30 minutes after the end. The whole country can vote.

One couple will be knocked out of the competition each week, starting with week one.
The couple with the lowest overall score is knocked out of the competition.

Online voting remains open until noon (Eastern Time) on the day of the results show.

2) Vote your Maximum allowed votes

3) DELETE your PATH Cookies for the site

4) Go back to Logon page

5) Goto Step 1


If you use Firefox, I download an extention called "Web Developer" that will allow you to quickly and easily delete your PATH Cookies for the site. If you use IE, just go out to your Cookies directory and delete all the RECENT cookies that just got created in the voting process.

well i didn't want to say this before because i didn't want to bring anyone down and cause people not to vote, but i've been thinking about this since last week, and i really think Jerry is going home tonight. he was in the bottom two last week with Joey Lawrence, and i think it's safe to say that Joey probably won't be in the bottom two this week but it's obvious Jerry will. Joey's too good of a dancer to be in the bottom two again.

it's a numbers game, really. this is probably gonna confuse a lot of people, but i'll try to explain anyway:

if anyone else but Joey is in the bottom two this week, and unless whoever it is was on the bubble and very close to being in the bottom two last week, then Jerry is going home because he's probably still in last place. the only way Jerry will survive is if so many people vote for Jerry this week that there's a HUGE margin between the number of votes he gets this week and the votes whoever else is in the bottom two this week to compensate for both this week and last week.

last week's skipping the elimination and the fact that they're combining the votes has pretty much made the odds of Jerry staying a lot worse, more or less guaranteeing he'll be eliminated this week.

last week's skipping the elimination and the fact that they're combining the votes has pretty much made the odds of Jerry staying a lot worse, more or less guaranteeing he'll be eliminated this week.


Unfortunately, i have to agree with you.

Jerry finished 4.38% behind Joey last night. That means, even if they had the EXACT same amount of votes last week(which i'm sure Joey had more), Jerry would still need 438 MORE votes per ten-thousand votes to stay in. I'm doubting it'll happen, but hopefully had enough to tip the scales.

The way the judges handed out points to everyone BUT Jerry makes me think someone gave them a talking to.

There is nothing to say you're sorry for. I was on last night and quite a few times I wanted to let them have it. I finally ended up just signing off. I expected them to be on last night after Jerry was eliminated but I didn't expect ABC would let them stay on long and have the run of the board.

Very understandable. They really need a monitor, at least till a few hours after the California airing, which is probably the time when the traffic is heaviest. As I wrote on another thread, years ago I used to post on The X-Files' site, and if anything offensive was on, it was removed in minutes. Even the trolls were beginning to post that they were surprised they hadn't been kicked off yet!

Very understandable (is that a word lol) I felt the same way and left also. Couldn't respond to a good post without those nasty people butting in. Don't feel bad, alot of us felt the same way ;)

do you mean banning IP addresses as in 'nobody from a certain server would be able to post' or getting trolls banned from their IPs?

if you mean banning entire IP servers I agree not only is it ineffective, it's unfair. But getting trolls banned from their IPs is effective but it takes time because the IP usually only responds when you produce mass evidence of troll crap from lots of regular net citizens, then you have to repeat the process because the trolls usually have multiple IPs. But for the determined it does work and of course it helps if the effort is organized.

I came on at about 9pm (central time). If you were on here you couldn't miss it. For 2.5 hours I kept bumping good threads and still couldn't keep their perversions off.

There is absolutely no reason that abc cannot have a full time moderator. I volunteer as a moderator for a site which I will not say because trolls may visit. It's a strictly winter site. It is so easy to delete a thread, I just don't get it.

You have expressed everything that I, too, was thinking & feeling; I was on the verge of leaving this board FOR GOOD because I was so highly offended by the vile things that were being written here! But as many of us have said repeatedly here, keep ignoring these people, keep reporting them, and just BE PATIENT; eventually, ABC will remove them from the board! (I must say, though, I was surprised....and impressed.....at how rapidly the posts were removed last night once there were repeated complaints! And peaceonearth, you have NOTHING to apologize for.....MANY of us shared your sentiments! Keep up the good work, everyone!

I think the mods forget that the east coast is 3 hours ahead of west coast. That is how long we put up with the crap before anything was done. They obviously had no one moderate until at least 10:00pm west coast time.

That's for you to decide. For the most part this board is fun and clean. However, on nights of broadcasts, there is a group of degenerates that post vile hateful filth. The moderators are always slow to get it deleted. Last night because of the Jerry Springer issue was especially bad.

All is forgiven. No one blames you for losing it. :D I think a lot of people were getting frustrated. When that kind of thing happens, ignore those threads, bump positive threads, and report offensive users. It's the best way to fight them. :)

From what I could gather from the message board this morning the mods/mod whatever didn't show up til around 10 or 11 eastern time which was about the time the show ended on the west coast.

There's threads over there of users wanting ABC to shut the board down. Sounds like all those earlier posts of "we beat Wackbag" got shut up pretty quickly. One more time good job last night.

I think I got banned at 12:30am EST. I wasn't even to hardcore. A couple racist jokes, racist song lyrics, a few AIDS jokes and countless insults to midwestern soccer moms. All and all we did good.
