Mainelli To Free FM? - 10/25 - Not local but interesting. Radio And Records is reporting rumblings that NYC area radio vet John Mainelli is being considered to program CBS's Free FM talker WFNY in NYC. You'll recall that Mainelli, who once programmed NYC talkers WABC and WOR, got canned a few months ago from his NY Post radio columnist gig when Howard Stern complained about his report that Stern would soon be jumping back to broadcast radio. Sirius Stern used to be heard on WFNY, back when it was WXRK. Stay tooned.....

If true, think the Boys had a hand in this?

I think Mainelli is perfect choice for that role. He knows radio.Not that I am a PD or even the radio biz But move Jv and Elvis to afternoons. 9-10 Ona Best of tough choice there because the station would want 9-10 be live. And than afternoons bring in Star and bucwild this will draw some hispanics over but this guy has a name and a draw..in the end it is about money and ratings Star brings that. Plus I have xm and won't listen anyway...But great move bringing in Mr. Mainelli

That would be my 1st choice. I just don't see that happing. Because I am plain selfesh. CBS has hold of one show not into them having hold of both. I do hope R&F go to 3-7 starting 11/20. We will see...
