Best Buy is as useful as a bucket of shit without the bucket. I pre-ordered it from them (only because I got the T-Shirt and a 1600 Points card for $5). So I called today to find out the status. They told me it might be today, it might be tomorrow, it might be the next day. So they have no fucking clue (gee, what a surprise)...

From what I read, Circuit City, Best Buy et. al. should be getting it November 12th. November 7th, today, it was to be delivered to game boutiques (Gamestop, EB Games, etc.)

Don't know why they'd do that other than to give a little spike to boutique sales.

OMG.... I played all night last night and was very impressed. Goodbye Halo2 Hello Gears Of War. This is officially my new addiction. Only thing about the game that i would change would be to add more Multiplayer games. Theres is only three types and i would love to see more. But i guess thats what marketplace is for. And if and when they do come out with new content for it i will be there with MP points in hand. Anyone ever wanna go to battle with, or against me just send an invite.

I went to Gamecrazy this morning and picked up both Gears of War and Call of Duty 3.

So far I've only played GoW for about an hour. Very gritty and bloody stuff...just the way i like it :icon_mrgr . I'm not sure I agree with the 9/10-10/10 scores I've been seeing but its certainly a very good game :xyxthumbs

I'm just starting the krill level where you go for the vehicle. I'm really enjoying the game but again, I'm still not convinced the 9/10's and 10/10's are justified though.

it gets so much more gooder...the cover mechanic is nearly flawless. and the chainsaw on the gun animation is ridiculous, i love it.

I cancelled my afternoon appointments and played it most of the day. It is fucking incredible. So much fun. The controls take a little getting used to, but once you do it is very natural.

To the guy who says he isn't sure if it justifies a 9/10, what games do? I honestly can't think of a game I have enjoyed more.

i'm going out in front of the fenix house in chapter 5, to meet the other two dudes in the APC. and the two rocket launchin big dudes come out, and then an emergence hole springs up. and you got 30 secs after you kill the two big dudes to get to the apc. i glanced at a guide and it said to take 1 of the big nigs out and then sprint to the apc. i'm tryin that but once i get to the emergence hole i get my big ass pwnt. anyone got a suggestion?

Don't get me wrong, I think the game is great! I just think many of the reviewers were/are caught up in the hype. Epic is very press-friendly with no doubt many close professional relationships forged over the years. Very few journos are truly neutral. "Gaming journalism" is still in its infancy. Questionable PR tactics similar to payola etc isn't unheard of. I'm not saying thats the case entirely with GoW but it does have an affect.

The game is a stunning technical achievement but a far as a storyline it *probably* won't be as memorable in the long run as Halo is/was simply because Halo gave equal weight to both story AND combat.

That's a great point. Some video game companies threaten to pull advertising if their games get a bad review. Unfortunately most gaming magazines give in. There are still a couple objective "journalists" out there. Vicious Sid from Gamepro is really good and he loves GoW. I trust his opinion on most games.

Cliffy B is the biggest promotion whore out there as well. The game has been WAY overhyped, but it is still phenominal (thanks jimmy). The game is way too short from accounts I have read. I think they rushed it so it would come out before PS3 and build hype for GoW 2, which they are making.

Gears of War seems to be ripe for Expansion and Marketplace Add-Ons... I sense there will be at least one expansion purchase you'll need to make before GoW2 comes out.

I am not usually a huge fan of shooters, but I LOVE how difficult this game is. The fact that you need to take cover and you can't run and gun makes me happy, and wish that I was able to do this in other shooters as easily as I can here.

i'm just about finished with it, i've prolly put in 11-13 hours in casual. i tried playin some online co-op with franchise earlier and we tried hardcore, shit just takes much longer. i was readin that on insane mode you can only get outta cover and fire off 3-4 rounds before getting pelted.

multiplayer is growing on me. at first i thought it sucked ass. but the more i play it i'm really digging it. i would highly recommend atleast playing campaign for a while to get the hang of the cover mechanic and reloading.

I'm a bit into the third chapter now, which is kindof a bummer considering that there are only 5. I'll be done with this in a week unless the online play is awesome, it'll be going back for a trade in.

It's really, really good, but not something I could see myself wanting to play through again, Wish it were longer. Then again, the online play could be amazing so I shouldn't judge yet.

I am having fun with it but I really suck at it right now. I played for maybe 30 minutes or an hour and am almost done with the first act. The graphics are truly amazing and the controls are complex, but friendly when you learn them. There are a lot of controls to learn though.

The weapons are better than Halo and the graphics are better than Halo, but I am not sure how the multiplayer is. I personally hated Halo 2, but loved Halo. gears of War is much better than Halo 2 in my opinion.

A buddy of mine brought this up last night, we played it and FEAR for about 5 hours.
This game rocks, the co-op mode is awesome.
Also, I never knew there we're so many high pitched whiny brats on xbox live. I may have met 3 people over 18.

It's one of the reasons I don't enjoy playing on XBox live. I can't stand playing with teenagers and children. Ugh.

I'm enjoying the game so far. The controls do take time to get used to, especially moving from object to object for cover. Overall it's a lot fun and the environments are diverse enough to keep my interest. The gun battles are also a shitload of fun.

That's the main reason to keep a full friends list and play only custom games. That's about all I do anymore...and I barely have time to finish SP games...I'm always getting invites to play multiplayer.

Just got this game. Everyone got me so excited about it, I picked it up yesterday even though I send the shit box in for repairs on Monday. Have to say I am not all that impressed with the control of the game. Who knows... maybe it will grow on me, but I don't like not having normal run and jump configurations. Maybe I just have to get used to gameplay. Don't get me wrong, I definately like it, but it just didn't live up to the hype I have heard. Like I said though... that will probably change once I get used to the movement of the game.

I beat it this weekend with my cousin and maybe it was easier with 2 people but it took us like 5 times and then we somehow beat him. He shot constantly until the bats flew off and then I would hit him with a crossbow and we did that like 5 times and then just shot the shit out of him and he died. BTW the time we beat him we stayed back instead of rushing up idk if that will help.

I beat him on casual this past weekend on like my 4th try. It was real easy, I didn't even use grenades or anything, just the lancer (assault rifle with shotgun). I'm going through the game on hardcore now though and I'm sure he'll be a tad more difficult.
