Watched this on HBO and raises quite a few questions, although they proved the machines could be tampered with their scenario was far fetched. They would have to get a valid card, put the program on it, switch it out, then erase any evidence on the card of tampering. Seems impossible and not worthy of the response of the woman at the end of the film.

Still it raises questions on the security of the machines and seems that there should be more safeguards for our election process.

I didnt see it, but I love a good conspiracy and republicans winning in close elections where the diebold machines are is just too odd to completely dispell rumors of tampering. not to mention the loud mouth ceo of diebold said at the time he will deliver ohio for bush.

Well the results from last night now make this movie look even more full of shit than when I first watched it.

As a software engineer, and a "white hat" hacker I watched the "HD" documentary....everything they said is 100% true and doable and the equipment to do it isn't very difficult to procure. In fact, I have most of the stuff in my house right now....

BUT...it would be EXTREMELY difficult for most people I've seen running polling places (*cough*old people*cough*) to have the knowledge of changing internal bits inside a "Diebold memory card" (that part made me crack up everytime they called it that).

I also found it hilarious that Diebold was saying there was "no executable code" inside their "memory cards." bwa-ahahahahahahahaaa........riiiiiight, you just keep saying that. :D

I got to see/use the newer Diebold model yesterday...noticed they used a smartcard that the person watching over the machine places a one time key onto it that appears to only be good for a few minutes before you have to place it into the machine. They also watch you place the smartcard inside the machine before walking away. Playing around in the interface I couldn't find any kind of exploit....their new touchscreen systems are pretty nice...appear to be running WinCE (since I saw another one in the corner with a crash screen that would be associated with WinCE).

Just my $0.02,

Yeah I thought diebold was lying to save their ass but to do what they did in the movie requires a lot of people in on the scam and anyone can turn them in for it and they would spend a lot of time in jail.

Typical tin foil hat over reaction to a non-issue
