Its out today so I figured I'd get a thread going.
This one wasn't made by Infinity Ward, the guys who did such and amazing job with the first and second ones. Hopefully it does't follow the same tack that Medal of Honor did when that series switched devs.
Also a bummer that there will be no PC version of this but Infinity Ward is supposedly working on a new IP which is what the PC guys will get instead so hopefully it'll all even out in the end.
anyhoo....CoD3....discuss.

IGN gave it a 8.8. Basically they said its nothing new but still a solid game that WWII game fans should definitely check out.

If the Wii one had online play I'd get it. Not gonna play an FPS with a controller like the 360/PS3s.
Too bad it's not on PC (for awhile).

I bought it yesterday but I got caught up in Gears of War which is fantastic and continuing my FF12 addiction. I turned it on and tried to play online but I couldn't find a game to get into. It was almost as if I was the only on playing.

I cant wait to check this out, love the first two. Too many games coming out at one time and not enough money! If only my kids could live off water and crackers.

I'll be picking this up eventually, but GOW has my full attention for the time being.
I'm surprised there is no PC version.

GOW is amazing. The reason they aren't going to port it to PC is to sell more 360's.

That's the whole reason it's exclusive. I've heard that the lobby setup for CoD3 is only a little above the pre-patched CoD2. Not that GoW's lobby is much better. Really, do developers think that the only reason Halo 2 is consistently the #1 XBL title solely because of gameplay?

I meant I was surprised there was no PC version of COD3. GOW is the type of game that will sell systems.

The aiming mechanic in this game is perfect. When you zoom in on the target the reticule will subtly rest over the nearest enemy without making it feel like you are being led. I don't know how they got this effect but it makes you feel like an uber-skilled bad-ass.
I still prefer a mouse but if they can make every console shooter using this aiming system it would go a long way towards making the genre less painful using a gamepad.

They can if thats all you give them. It is really amazing how little food a kid needs to cling to life as you bask in the glory of new games.

Amen brother. The best online experience is Halo 2. The party system is amazing, and Microsoft should make this the standard for online play over Live. PGR2 & 3 (Playtime mode) has a pretty good lobby system as well. I can race for hours with the same group of players.

Ok, I got in some serious play time today with this.
i admit at first I wanted to not like this simply because Infinity Ward didn't have a hand in its development but I've found that they didn't need to. treyarch has done a great job of emulating IW's style of gamemaking to a "T". I'll even go as far to say that because of the sublime aiming mechanic the game is JUST AS fun as the CoD2 version on the PC.....honest. If I have to find fault its with the graphics. Sorry, but developers still haven't gotten to the point where they can equal a PC game's fidelity (excepting Gears of War of course).

picked it up from bestbuy today, got a free movie with it. just played a couple of rounds on xbl, pretty fucking cool. only problem i have is using the scope, as soon as you shoot, you lose the crosshairs. it's hard to tell if you made a kill or not.

Anyone play the multiplayer on 360? I find myself playing it more then GOW. The BF2 like War mode is fucking fantasy. I love the size of the maps, but i stinks it's hard to find a game with alot of people.

I played COD2 on the PC, and I understand the story is the same, and it was lots of fun.
Now that 3 is out, you can probably pick up COD2 pretty cheap, so you can start with that.

Absolutely not. Buy both if you can afford it but if you can only afford one get CoD2. The graphics are generally the same but the CoD2 version, particularly the Russian missions, are just phenominal.
hog_Juice, I agree, the multiplayer for CoD3 is excellent. Matter of fact I haven't touched any PC online for several days now as I've been playing it almost exclusively.

Has anyone played the Xbox 1 version of CoD 2 which is called "The Big Red One"? Treyarch did it as well and I hear its quite good. After playing CoD3 I'm still hungry for more WW2 insanity.

I have. It's not bad and is very different from the 360's CoD2.

Its decided then. If I buy a 360 next week, which is almost guaranteed, I'm definitely getting CoD2 with it.
