My subscription to McAfee Security Center (integrated firewall, virus scan, and spam killer) is about to expire and I am debating switching to another service, any recommendations or suggestions?

In the past you all have given some great information so, thanks in advance!

Right now I'm using eTrust by Computer Associates (CA) for spyware, firewall and antivirus. They have a collective program for all of the things you listed, and I have never encountered a single virus since installing it over a year ago.

Here's the website for their complete Security Suite - http://home2.ca.com/DRHM/servlet/ControllerServlet?Action=DisplayProductDetailsPage&SiteID=caconsum&Locale=en_US&Env=BASE&productID=50709600

$70 for a whole year, and it gives you 3 register keys if you want to give two subscriptions to friend or family. Pretty good deal.

i would either check out NOD 32 or Trend Micro Internet Security (or what they are calling it now)

AVG Antivirus (Free)
Spybot Search & Destroy (advanced features need to be configured - host file loaded and TeaTimer) (also free)
Windows Firewall enabled (McAffe disables it).

If you think that free software cannot outperform paid software (and you are wrong if you do) then you can use the AVG Anti-Malware package which is $45 for 2 years

You will be amazed at how much performance you gain back not having McAfee installed. I have also had to clean viruses from many systems that relied on McAfee.

I also avoid Norton on my clients' computers because of how it affects system performance, not to mention that many viruses know how to disable Norton. It also peridodically blows up and won't update or uninstall.

I got sick of paying for that crap. I've been using AVG (free) for over a year now with no problems. That and I run Lavasoft Adaware SE once a wk for spyware etc, also free. AVG also works along with your windows firewall instead of shutting it off. If your gonna pay for something, Trend Micro PCcillian I think is the best.
